Dw why didn't you invite an economist in this conversation..clearly an expert in economics would interpret the economic benefits that Africa has gained and the disadvantages in a more informed manner
Collaboration is only mutually beneficial when you collaborate as equals. Elsewise it is just exploitation. Kenya has only had 57 years of independence. It took the US from 1776 to 1859 to stop deciding political office by way of duel. That's 83 years, in a country where the people decided their own borders. Kenya's growth is going to take time. It is not going to be instant. This isn't a matter of blame, this is a matter of understanding and context. From where Kenya has started, it's growth is tremendous. Keep going and be proud of your accomplishments.
Honestly, I understand about losing a victim mentality. Doesn't make me like or appreciate or excuse British violating African people and others they've colonized. I think countries like Singapore did the right thing. They were ultra-disciplined and made themselves into economic powers. Africa needs an economic power that is not South Africa. Rwanda is trying to get there but I don't think they're big enough.
Any investment funding comes with more than interest. The more you take/borrow the higher their stakes . That’s part of any nation climbing up the ladder .
Africa has been on foreign aid longer than most Canadian/British taxpayers have been born. This while exsoldiers and the mentality handicapped live, sleep and die on the bitterly cold streets of Canada. Our Canadian politicians and bureaucrats on their way to work, stepped over the homeless. Let that sink in. Why? Enquiring minds need to know.
I think when it comes to development and growth we are taking the easy way out. We don't invest in our people to promote economic growth and development.

Better this kind of debates spread and to be held in every village, town and big cities in Africa. To build strong awareness & constructive responses from the people and leaders
I don't like the way the interview has been ended, and the conclusion that was made at the end. This topic is a very deep one, and cannot and should not be treated so lightly and so casually and left hanging there in the middle of nowhere, with no real idea or perception on how one should confront this situation that Africa is in.
Pluri-languages are a blessing for us, yet we as African refused to come together to speak a unique Afro language, cause our leaders refused it back then when it was proposed. and everywhere I go, we had to Salut each others into our colonial languages, meanwhile , Chinese, Indians, Arabs speak others languages too, yet they're proud to speak their own maternal languages in others face with no mercy, while we everything we had to said between ourselves, others understand.
I love how he described what he said. She is not playing a role in the neo-colonialism. Cause of your interest within the broadcast and she is targeting.
No one is forcing grants or fellowships on people I thought that was a bit disingenuous. Everyone makes sacrifices to advance in their careers that isn’t specifically a colonizer doing that and it shouldn’t be discouraged because eventually they’ll stop giving grants if it’s looked at negatively Edit: there are some narratives I didn’t like. I don’t think white people see themselves as saviors or that were better than anyone. Obviously some do but she went very quick from demonizing white supremacy to supporting black supremacy and I think that thought pattern is very very dangerous. Also I think having a framework of freedom and a constitution isn’t a white thing more over it’s just a human benefit! Please help us work on repairing our relationship! Much love from America to Africa! Rise up and be free!
Most of these narratives are refueled by people and ideologies like Ibram Kendi. There is a tone present in black debates in the US that has started to fester in Africa in regard to colonialism. It is a toxic mixture of victim mentality, the concept of systemic white supremacy and colonizers as never-ending and inherently white, so consequently things are being said in public that if a white person said them about a BIPOC, they would face charges for racial discrimination in most countries. I have a radical impatience for the whole mantra of decolonizing the mind, build Africa from within with the abundant wealth, stop depending on foreign aid and come together yadda yadda hallelujah. - No continent is more tribal than Africa - No continent has more armed conflicts. This has been true for decades - Boko Haram / Al-Shabaab etc. as an additional struggle, have changed the dynamics and the dehumanising violence and terror they exploded over parts of the continent are incomprehensible. - The colonizers have long left, some people who were born in Africa and worked, built something all their lives were made to leave and their land was taken. I am very concerned for South Africa and the direction politics have taken, the things that are being said by EFF and BLF members like Malema, by reports of violent crimes, land-grabs and murders as well as an increasingly ghettoized white population is systematically pushed to the extremest fringe of poverty deliberately. South Africa has not learned anything, the end of Apartheid and Madiba’s great work and sacrifice are but a memory. Nobody wants to talk about it but the possibility of South Africa’s economy imploding is so vast in its consequences, that one would think, it would change people’s approach as the economic situation is getting more dire in real time, people are faced with violent tribalism, discrimination and extreme inequality of wealth, living standards, access to jobs and services … this is the biggest, most important and strongest economy on the continent. If it fails, we’re looking at the destabilization of the entire sub-saharan bloc. Granted, there are glimmers of hope - Rwanda is doing simply astonishingly especially given its not so recent history. - Overall, African countries with post-colonial democratic constitutions see them eroding, especially in the Maghreb. Natural extremes are posing an increasing problem especially in the east and the corruption and malice in the collective grab for resources is .. business as usual. This is a cultural problem. The corruption and the lack of understanding and / or will how to properly distribute and budget state funds, is the pitiful evergreen of post-colonial Africa. Running Zimbabwe into the ground was one thing, but South Africa must not fail. The IMF and every power in the world couldn’t fix this if it happened. The reality is, that we’re seeing hundreds of thousands of able-bodied young men leave for Europe, with a utopian illusion about life and society, about the necessary resilience and patience for bureaucratic hurdles, challenging living conditions and limited job prospects. I can’t say this enough, but all this this talk I mentioned keeps being repeated, but never gets implemented. I hope that a generation of young Africans will grow up with the mindset and willpower that is necessary to transcend tribal, religious, racial, historical and geographical differences and hurdles and that through this, the confidence and resources will rise to let many prosper. ☮️
Funny how they kept drumming about what used to be but cut off the man that pointed out China is the new coloniser and that they should be living in present and future.

Thanks Nanjala. You are smart.
~ insightful, introspective & informative Edith! you bring it, & give Us plenty to Consider & shift our paradigms!🧐😜✅
Bring this program to Nigeria please we need to educate Nigeria youth and hear their part of story
So called Nigerians already think they know everything.
Scheaffer Okore is on Point.
When he talks coffee tourism and showing them how we do stuff. I ask Michael. Do they reciprocate?
I think when it comes to development and growth we are taking the easy way out. We don't invest in our people to promote economic growth and development.
shout out to this amazing journalist
I am a year late commenting on the topic 🤣. But what a great debate 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾.
Africa you are ready!!.
Africa you have always been ready.
So much talent and education.
So many of you understand and actually know what needs to be done.
Africa you are ready to take full control of your countries and the prosperous future of the next generation.
Africa need to educate more women so that they can be leaders in Africa.... and women don't compromise if anything happens to their country.
our curse started at the Berlin conference
This is wonderful. Sending my love from the states. 😇👍
Wasn't it Ngugi who wrote Decolonizing the Mind?
It's him
Better this kind of debates spread and to be held in every village, town and big cities in Africa. To build strong awareness & constructive responses from the people and leaders
Edith ..most beautiful journalist.
*I'm Haitian, and I like Kenyan women.* 🥰💓❤❣
Have you met every woman in Kenyan?
Every Kenyan woman?
REALLY???
Tony nailed it. but never forget!
We need more people like the girl wearing white glas she is intellectual who knows what she is talking about
Edith u r stellar in what you do 💝💝💝
I don't like the way the interview has been ended, and the conclusion that was made at the end. This topic is a very deep one, and cannot and should not be treated so lightly and so casually and left hanging there in the middle of nowhere, with no real idea or perception on how one should confront this situation that Africa is in.
I also stopped blaming leaders it's us the pple who have refused to think.we don't want to wake up
Why you need their money when you have the oil and other resources to sell
4 years later and we are fighting for economic independence
Pluri-languages are a blessing for us, yet we as African refused to come together to speak a unique Afro language, cause our leaders refused it back then when it was proposed. and everywhere I go, we had to Salut each others into our colonial languages, meanwhile , Chinese, Indians, Arabs speak others languages too, yet they're proud to speak their own maternal languages in others face with no mercy, while we everything we had to said between ourselves, others understand.
One African one love we need to get together and look for solutions in our Africa I'm right
AWAKEN ..BEFORE ITS TO LATE..
She's really doing it for Africa Allah bless you sister and all Africa
Ameen. and it will be happen Africa will best continent in worldwide inshallallahu ❣💎✅🤝🏽
I love how he described what he said. She is not playing a role in the neo-colonialism. Cause of your interest within the broadcast and she is targeting.
No one is forcing grants or fellowships on people I thought that was a bit disingenuous. Everyone makes sacrifices to advance in their careers that isn’t specifically a colonizer doing that and it shouldn’t be discouraged because eventually they’ll stop giving grants if it’s looked at negatively
Edit: there are some narratives I didn’t like.
- No continent is more tribal than Africa
- No continent has more armed conflicts. This has been true for decades
- Boko Haram / Al-Shabaab etc. as an additional struggle, have changed the dynamics and the dehumanising violence and terror they exploded over parts of the continent are incomprehensible.
☮️
Chinese blind our leaders with money first and we have to vote carefully coz Asian, Western, European are thinking the same
🎯
I agree with that mochoma guy. We cannot continue playing victims 70 years after independence. Let us place the blame where it lies. Our politicians.
Funny how they kept drumming about what used to be but cut off the man that pointed out China is the new coloniser and that they should be living in present and future.
wake up Africa youth please, help your motherland
Africa is not poor , so there is no need for foreign aid in Africa .The problem of Africa is managing finances well.
Such smart and eloquent people.
It seems as though we are having the same conversation around the globe.
YES!!!
As a ‘Black American’ I’m really encouraged and proud of how intelligent and beautiful my African cousin are in this video
WOMEN MUST RULE AFRICA, IN ALL AFRICAN COUNTRIES. TIME FOR AFRICAN WOMEN. WOMEN AND THE YOUTHS!
40 billion in aid 6billion on contraceptives why do you think that is?
How can you even call it aide when it serves the interest of the contributor against your own survival
Sister Scheaffer Okore, I love you so much from somalia 🇸🇴
The guy with a suit a tie has risen above the complaining. The rest of them sound like my sister still complaining she can’t get anywhere because of her divorce 30 years ago! The more Africa cry’s and complains and blames the longer you will get nowhere!
Excellent conversation but it needs to fruition into action and results
..Neo-colonialism at its best.." the language, your first names.."
No one is to be blame, we should just kick out our greedy leaders who have sold us all along.
Foreign aid is a new form of colonization and I blame it on our poor governance .Africa needs a second independence ,from our colonizers and from our AFRICAN leaders .However ,we also need to refrain from the victim mentality . We can not wait for the world to be equal inorder for us to be seen ,to be heard and to apply change on the continent . We are a new breed of Africans , more informed ,more conscious and educated. What is stopping us from implementing change ? It is ourselves who can bring forth change and not our leaders. We need to stop the blaming game. All we know is to blame and to fight behind our phone screens, tweeting ,posting on our instagram and whatsapp stories but no action. All talk ...talk...talk..blaming...blaming ...blaming....Wake up africa !!!!!!!!!! ( Follow me on instagram at kuhle_ngubane)
No there is no room for collebrations period at all.
I simply loved it😌
Afrika needs to become a Superpower!
Political system in Africa stinks,it makes me want to vomit. There is no sense of direction. How can a continent with vast arable land and rivers still import food... that's pathetic.
Sis Nanjala Nyabola knows what she is talking ✊🏿
I love all the women in this programme with their natural look on their hair love you all. That is our identity
YES!
Embrace change, when someone is out to help you appreciate
Afrika is the richest continent on the planet, yets its people are the poorest in the world. Our youths are unemployed, non-healthcare system, poor deplorable roads, etc. Why?, Why??, Why???.
Anyway it's look beautiful out there
