Yes definitely, in Germany atleast. I have met old people who are quiet racists. I don't want to excuse their behaviours, but some of them have never seen people of other skin colour, have never been anywhere else other than their little towns, are lonely and sick etc. They can throw nasty words at you but you know how we're well taught in Africa, you dont insult elders, you just ignore them. And with time, they will stop. As for the young people who are just ignorant, once you answer them in their language, they're so ashamed, they won't continue their stupidity because they recognise your intelligence. Beat them at their game, that's it. Racism and prejudice is there but be yourself, dont be apologetic of who or what you are, confidence is important and you'll earn the respect you deserve. Most people don't know much about Africa and our culture, they feel intimidated or otherwise but hold yourself high. I live in the worst part of Germany with my children and we happily move around with no fear, the police are just a button away and they do their jobs accordingly.
You need to come to italy #home of racism

Send all of those pesky white colonists of European descent in the Americas (ie USA, Canada, Brazil and Argentina), Carribean, Africa (ie South Africa, Namibia, Angola and Algeria), Australia, and New Zealand back to Europe. All people of colour in those European colonial countries have been suffering for too long with white racism and it's time to liberate all Indigenous peoples through reparations, self-determination by cultural, economic & political empowerment for social & racial justice, increasing the demographics of Indigenes to a significant level, and repatriation of colonised land largely owned by rich able-bodied white men to remove European colonial influences.

We have our ancestors DNA and since the beginning White people didn't like Black people. They started killing them and copying them. People don't study history enough to understand this. White people are mutant offspring's of Black people. They couldn't take the sun and ran to Europe. They got angry at Africa's wealth in natural resources because they didn't have any in Europe. They realized through violence and mental slavery they could take Africa and the rest of the world. Because of recessive genes they lack a certain level of empathy. The violence inflected on indigenous people around the world is evidence of that. The way they let the poor live is evidence that too.

Dear Africans wherever you go always focus in making a strong unified community.
Africans unite no matter where you are, unity is strength.
Dumbest statement ever that is liked by people who have no idea about life in other countries.
If you do it like Jews, it's certainly a possibility, but often it's not like that....
If you do it like the blacks in the US, the Turks in Germany or Africans in France.... uneducated lazy people who have no desire to integrate and therefore hide in the community and blame their failure or the failure of their own children on the (new) country in which they now live. There is a reason why almost all successful people (not sportsmen) distance themselves from these communities or avoid them completely (except when it is politically useful).
Unity is not a strength, unity is a weakness of the lazy losers.
Be a "lone wolf" (together with your family), work hard, integrate, resist the illusion of making it easier for yourself through "unity", "forget" your culture and embrace that of your new homeland, don't see yourself as a proud African but as a (future) European (if you want to remain African, stay in Africa), etc.

Are you married to the wealth that belong to the wicked? And now find it difficult to depart from its fruitages. Many of the innocent are on death row . Indeed the true reward of the wicked is now arriving and there’s nothing they can do to escape it.
This is very much a touchy subject, and there's probably very few grasping the value of what's posted, not that any of us are any better than next, It’s just that GOD grants understanding as to what it means to hate the spoils of the wicked, and many of the poor are awaiting that understanding, because no one enjoys continual pain, no one. And this is why most blacks appear awkward when they put on the wealthy garments of these people, because their clothing isn’t made to fit black folk properly or the poor who’s ‘ROOT’S’ are sown in pain.
Any place of wealth on this green earth, especially with the infamous place we call (America), you'll constantly find input or propaganda in every form of media, literally being shoved down the throats of it's citizens, that the fruitages of blood money which is presently under disguise as earnest money, keeps you from the agony that plagues the poor.
They are constantly encouraging a listening ear to fall in love with what they have achieved, making it your purpose in life to pursue there big blood money booty.
Just as their forefathers, the slave owners raped and had immoral and sometimes vicious intercourse with the African women of yesteryears, so the same today; they are raping the foundation of who we have become by the grace of GOD via much suffering, encouraging us to have relations with what they value. Thus breeding children who partially think as they do, which is to have a devotion toward wicked things and systems.
So many are eagerly pursuing this rush to get fools gold, that they fail to see the seriousness of all the innocent lives slaughtered and given in exchange for it. It's as if the agony and treachery that has been done, and is still being done for the sake of comfort, has an invisible shield or loop hole utilized by its perpetrators, one that will even allow it’s secondary participants to get a piece of the action, with out being touched by the one who gives life to all humans.
Indeed the torture and blood spilled over the past four centuries plus, by a nation that still walks about proudly with out considering it’s standing before the Life giver is a foolish walk to engage in.
It is truly a painful yet sweet reality, to know that suffering goes hand in hand with those who are to enjoy GOD’S goodness, after the wicked and their followers are removed.
By now it should be very obvious that those who take seriously this proud growth are unable to free themselves from the handcuffs on their hearts, that causes them to do and enjoy what is evil, the very things that our Creator detest.
Psalms 37:7-12
“Be still before the LORD and wait patiently for him; do not fret when men succeed in their ways, when they carry out their wicked schemes; A little while, and the wicked will be no more; though you look for them they will not be found. But the meek will inherit the land and will enjoy great peace. The wicked plot against the righteous and gnash their teeth at them; but the LORD laughs at the wicked for he knows his day is coming.”
Psalms 49:5-13,18-20
“Why should I fear when evil days come, when wicked deceivers surround me 6 those who trust in their wealth and boast of their great riches? 7 No man can redeem the life of another or give to God a ransom for him- 8 the ransom for a life is costly, no payment is ever enough 9 that he should live on forever and not see decay.
10 For all can see that wise men die; the foolish and the senseless alike perish and leave their wealth to others. 11 Their tombs will remain their houses forever, their dwellings for endless generations, though they had named lands after themselves. 12 But man despite his riches, does not endure; he is like the beast that perish.
13 This is the fate of those who trust in themselves, and their followers who approve their sayings. 18 Though while he live he counted himself blessed- and men praise you when you prosper-19 he will join the generation of his fathers, who will never see the light of life. 20 A man who has riches without understanding is like a beast that perish.”
Proverbs 21:15
“When justice is done, it brings Joy to the righteous but terror to evildoers.”
Ecclesiastes 8:8
“No man has power over the wind to contain it; so no one has power over the day of his death. As no one is discharged in time of war, so wickedness will not release those who practice it.”
People don't want to lose their jobs. European racism is very subtle and not direct like in America.

We all have to be strong💪🏽💪🏽🌍 Love you all Africans.
I'm a British guy and I have a Nuer friend from South Sudan. We talk about a lot of things but I don't ever remember using the word race. We talk about our lives here, what his life was like before he came here and I'm always very curious about Africa. I definitely think that having more intercultural conversations helps people to overcome any awkwardness they may feel about the unknown, though I'm thankful not to have had hardly any of that. Stereotyping exists within every country as well, and while it can be funny sometimes, it can also be hurtful. What I would encourage anyone to do when talking to a foreign person is to ask more open-ended questions. Instead of the somewhat thoughtless "Do people still throw spears in your country?", how about "What's something about your culture that I might not know about?"?
Allowing people to have control over the story they tell you is one of the most respectful things you can do for someone. There are clearly some racists everywhere, though I think they are thankfully in the minority. After that, there are just people making stupid jokes without thinking. They may be being thoughtless and doing harm but they are also probably not trying to be racist. The definition of racism I go by is "stereotyping with the intent to cause physical or emotional harm". I would say they should try harder but also not be immediately seen as racists by those on the receiving end, as frustrating as it can be to deal with so many people making that mistake for the first time.
For example, English people have many jokes about the Welsh and sheep, which, said in the wrong context, display the same disrespect as jokes about Africans. Overall, I would say that open-ended questions, and bias-free interest work the best both ways. People from the receiving country can display a genuine interest in those from the diaspora community, free from the biases they have learned, and those in the diaspora community in turn can display an interest free from the bias that asking someone about their origins, as I often do, is anything but genuine human curiosity and the hope that someone can teach me a greeting in a language I don't know;)
As a linguaphile, I've had some great experiences surprising Africans with greetings in their languages, and we all thought it was hilarious!
❤️

Loved this video, it's fantastic to hear how everyone feels about racism, in the setting of Germany. You hear these things, it helps people think twice about hurting feelings. But not to dwell on these things too much, if someone else is insulting.
Let's work hard for the money and go back home build and develop our continent period..... 💯
We Africans are a shame. Our descendants have ran away to all over the world. We are like a population of street kids who demand to be accepted in other people's homes/countries.
Every white households got One.!!
Because African Politicians are corrupt. They do tradecontract with Europe which fucks the economy of they’re country. The only good African leader I know is Ghana’s. And of course Madibi 🖤💚💛
Yes, if you want to stay African then stay in Africa. If you want to become German then move to Germany, but don’t expect other countries to accept your foreign culture.
It's the Stockolm syndrome. Colonization alienated us. We idealize the West and believe we absolutely need to be there, being unable to see the treasures and opportunities we have in Africa.
We insist on human rights where we are not wanted, what a shame!
Chinua Achebe, a renowned African author, poet and a novelist said “Until the Lions have their own historians the history of the hunt will always glorify the hunter”. Africans need to script their own narrative. It is not worth for Africans to inject efforts into trying to change the mindset Europeans have about Africans. The perspectives that Europeans like Germans have about Africans cannot be changed because the mindset of a group of people begins from childhood all the way to adulthood. Notwithstanding this, I suggest that Africans stay unapologetic of who they are. To vote out corrupt leaders in Africa, tag your blackness with productivity and excellence, encourage entrepreneurship, engage in industrialization and socioeconomic projects and educate the youth. Develop your continent to the extent that when Europeans come to your continent you give them a taste of the treatment pill they give you when you go into their countries so they know how it feels like. This should not be misinterpreted as hate or revenge but when you call for rain, be prepared to deal with the mud. When you call for thunder, don’t forget you can’t escape the lightening and when it rains, it will definitely shine someday. This is a simple and fair analogy.
Young people: Get your education abroad. Afterwards, GO HOME! Take your knowledge home and grow your nations! Whatever it is you like about those countries, you can create in Africa even more! Stop growing/building other nations. Grow your African nations, unless you are prejudiced against them, of course. None of those nations will appreciate your contributions more.
Exactly. Instead they stay and complain for handouts and politicians utilize their desperation via false narratives to further their goals. Foreigners need to understand that systemic oppression begins with them and the capacity they allow themselves to be used.
It’s the politicians jobs that are getting millions to do that.
Correction don't build "African Nations" build the African Nation.
You cannot just build; that is very naive to say. We all know politics play a major role in having actual opportunities. If there were such options i would like to believe we would not have to venture abroad in order to begin to build
Sadly the most of them don't want to make their (former) homelands a better place. But even more sadly a lot of them want to make their New homeland more like their former country.... crazy...
A lion will always be a lion where ever in the world its born. In the human experience, people just need to accept diversity and excerise mutual respect.
Like Africans accept diversity? 😂 even today they discriminate white South Africans, calling them non Africans and colonizers, but when they are in Europe they want to be called Germans.
What is so great about diversity? Western cities all look alike now, all full of the same ethnic groups from elsewhere. We should maintain our different cultures.
To all my black people worldwide... I love you❤
Pink Skin Can't Handle The Sunlight First and foremost, we must now move away from the usage of colour to describe peoples, tribes, tongues and nations! We are living in a time when everything is up for revision and everything has to be redefined as it pertains to skin ‘colour’. No skin created by God is white or black or yellow or red. There is no white person, and there is no black person anywhere on earth. So, saying that Julia, the writer from the magazine is ‘the only ‘white’ person’ in the group of people you interviewed, is incorrect: she is actually NOT white, for God’s sake! Her skin ‘colour’ is more of pink! There are no whites and there are no blacks! There are Europeans from Europe, Asians from Asia, Africans from Africa. Associating people from African background with “Black” is associating these group of peoples with death, evil, and aggression, rebellion, emptiness, gloom and sadness and negativity: The experience of Moses, the guy who worked with Nokia in Finland corroborates this. Let’s STOP the negativity that has been stuck on us as People of African descent over the centuries. We are not black, we are not a negro, we are not coloured: skin is not named by colour. Don’t say you are black and don’t call anybody white, it’s incorrect. It is wrong to say and believe what is a lie or what is false.

Thank you for making this video. I am a Black American and it is good to see Black Africans in Germany and hear about their experiences. I was in Berlin visiting my brother and got to meet Blacks from all over the world , I regret not taking time to ask them things like they have talked about here. So, thank you for the video.
Africa has a bright future with these smart Young people.
Greetings from the diaspora from the Netherlands! Lets keep the conversation going!✊🏿
Wow the Jamaican lady said “Immigration is a hero’s journey”. Thank you for this, I feel even more energized. Good luck to all my fellow young Africans wherever you are.
She is very well spoken and i can very much agree with everything she said
Around 16:00 for years now here in USA if someone ask me where I'm from, I reply planet Earth. That usually gets me a strange look, and no other dialogue
Very interesting perspectives. It’s good to know how and what other Diasporans think.
I appreciated everyone being brave and participating in this video. I especially identify with the Afro Germans. It makes me remember how I am treated like a foreigner in my own country in the USA. I can never completely be myself, blend in and relax.
In the wake of all that is happening atm in your country, I thought I would give it a go and take a deep dive into that "race"/racism-matter, in the wake of which I stumble upon many of these "Being black in " - videos.
What I found: There are differences between the videos by people with African descent and those by African Americans.
It was obvious that the black people from the US are a lot deeper into the whole reasoning because of their experiences for generations and their fight. Thus I thought it to be good to have the US-debate influence our less developed debate in Europe.
But on the other side: Even though the Eugenics of the 19th/20th century was the same on both sides of the Atlantic and it was actually Europe that has colonized nearly all of Africa, it felt like some of the African Americans in these videos were dragging a very heavy pack on their back and did not adapt their thinking at all to what is after all a different situation here.
I guess what I would like to say is: Come on Europe, this is not only a problem of the USA like some of us would have you believe. But to those who get that what happens in the US is a chance we have to take to do it better tomorrow anywhere on the planet: We have to find our solutions to our problems. And don't import that race-terminology, because there are no races. That is what racists believe in.
I hope this is of any interest for you ;)
Best wishes from this white boy haha.
Actually an interesting conversation would be if it is at all possible to be an afro german. Or Afro Chinese ect. I believe that there is probably only the USA (maybe also Canada) where u can become a full member of the (tribe). Because the community believes that u are part of it when u are born there. That does nowhere else exist. Maybe the rest of the world (every other nation) could learn from that approach.
go back to africa and make your own country great .

With my education i was able to make some money in the west, now i use that money to invest in cameroon,
creating opportunities for young cameroonians.
The key to a good life for any african anywhere in the world is a good education,
Cheikh Anta Diop used to say to young Africans "Armez-vous de science jusqu’aux dents".

Racism is a strategy of control and dominance!
Racism is the ideology of white supremacy.
I like your comment but one thing is clear: White supremacy is one manifestation of racism. There are MANY others.
An other reason for racism is "not knowing"... Things people don't know they often fear.... Therefore I think dividing races is not benefitting antyracism.... to meet each other and exchange is eliminating racism.
In my country we are more and more so much mixed from colours and cultures.
I think next generation will be much more less racist than today....
If you grow up already in kindergarden with all colours of children and make friendships with each other, how can you later be racist??? No, you won't!
@@Flex2212 Race as a human categorization, is a european(white) concept created in the context of "Scientific racism", a pseudoscientific belief of white europeans that empirical evidence exists to support or justify the hierarchization(discrimination) of different groups of human based on their phenotype.
White supremacy is not one manifestation of racism, it is racism.
There are many others hierarchizations(discriminations) of human based on other concepts, like the caste system in India.
Both could have similar effects, but are not equal.
i.e. nazism is a further development of racism, based on the degree of being white, blond whites(aryan) being at the top.
@@Visionary_of_Love being mixed will not prevent racism, because racism is the hierarchization of human, based on their degree of being white.
So if you go to Brazil a very mixed society, you'll discover one of the most racist society in the world.
@@dicker70So you defin racism as a matter of hierarchisation??? I would defin it in just valuating/judging, excluding or discriminating somebody on behave of exclusively his race... you don't agree?
And if it is so; then it is a fact, that for exemple due to what some black people (what's depending on where they grew up) experiented from a group of white people, they judge or even hate not only this group of people, but EVERY white, what I define ergo as racism too....
For your brazil exemple I think I have an explanation referring to my first theorie I mentioned above:
Even if they are a melting pot of many colours too, you say, they are VERY racist: I said, racism can be caused of not knowing each other (strangeness) ... and if you exchange with eachother, like when small different coloured kids grow up together, as they do in my country, there will be less or no racism anymore... (they build friendshps since childhood, seeing each other as sisters and brothers, (what they actually are anyway....))...and cant be rasist anymore.
Even if they are so multicultural in Brazil: DO they grow up together???? ...Or is there rather somekind of ghettoisation, where all the colours grow up only in THEIR own coloured community????
Interesting discussion and some great points made, especially for me, as a man of mixed Afro and euro heritage.
Living in the US and finding that I don’t feel welcome here or in the UK and thinking of traveling to Ghana and to hear the Ghanaian say he feels more at home in Germany is strange to hear.

I live in Ghana 🇬🇭. We are trained to adjust to every environment.
Could have two reasons:
#1 If he lives in a leftwing City like Berlin, he won't have problems... people want to be friend with him just because they want a black friend (similar like some women want a gay friend)
#2 If he is hard working and speaks german the people like him or at least will accept him.
But after 2015, unfortunately, it became more difficult, for two main reasons...
A) too many black immigrants have attracted negative/criminal attention to speak of "individual cases".
B) Before 2015, Germany made cuts in pensions, education, etc. in order to reduce German debts... and suddenly was an average of 15 billion € per year is spent on foreigners who never paid taxes? Now it's "only" between 4 and 5 billion €, but if you compare it with the around 7 billion for germans welfare....
B is also the most common reason you will hear, even from already integrated (blacks). "I don't like them coming here and living off our tax money."

I live here in germany as well. To be candid racism is real. Even though i strongly believe that with recent happenings around the globe racism will definately be subside to it's barest minimum. I had my experiences too but the truth is, recently here in germany racism is not really an institutional thing meaning insitution are ready to help you find your feet and if you are able to jump the integration bounds you can atomatically be part of most of these institutions or system. In Germany racism is prevalent mostly in her social system (individualistic to be precise) and that makes the very needed intregration for people with colour difficult. Yea there are lots of growth and human development opportunities here, that we as african should take positive advantage of. But my fear still remains that all blacks might still continue to face this racial prejudice if we don't start thinking about building our root which is black africa. We should do everything humanly possible to change the orientation of our leader back home and the system itself so as to see the segement of a black african continent that can be termed developed. United Arab Emirates and China has achieved such feet and people from these nations have evolved this racial stereotyping. In my study of of leaving above racial prejudice, i summarized that people treats you according to their perceptions and when linked to black prejudice the perception is we are poor, backwards, uneducated and undeveloped which are lies. Most of our educated black brothers and sisters didn't get that educational foundation in diaspora or western world and we are all doing well in our various endeavours meaning we got extra muscle in our medulla. But the sell out is the non-transformational leadership in black africa. I use black africa not forgetting the fact that they are blacks in other continents but because i want us all to understand that africa is our root 400 years ago slave trade placed us wherever we find ourselves as citizens today be it by birth or as emigrants so for us to restore our pride we must place Black African nations in the map of developed nations, we must not leave our base or our recent domicile to do this but we can keep conscientizing the people, standing against bad leadership and making positive input in her leadership. Organise forum and help in liberating them from sane leadership. Developmental blue prints that can turn our social, economic and political system around for good can also be proposed and pushed into the system. Fight against western exploitation of our economies and ensuring that the African wealth is used to develop Africa rigorously and quickly. The times is now and we need to act fast else we might begin to percieve question like where are you from as form of concieved racial stereotyping or in worst case scenario begin to deny our ancestral root just as some are already doing. God blessed Africa and we should begin to appreciate what we have and use them for our internal growth.

Being a black male, from the US, living in Germany... very interesting to say the least. My theories have been proven right over and over again in this video. Africans are talking about "not abusing the system" , "making them feel comfortable" . "racism only exists if you think about it" etc etc... I have experienced good, bad and ugly during my time in Germany. Unfortunately our African brothers and sisters don't do much to fight the injustice when they just want to conform and scold other's from the diaspora instead of realizing that Europeans have been causing pure hell and chaos in Africa for a VERY long time. Ask yourself this... When the Europeans "conquered" African nations, did they think... "hey lets not abuse the system, lets make the Africans feel comfortable" . HELL NO they didn't! They came for the natural resources, human capital and land they desired... No questions asked, no guilt felt. So yes, Europeans should realize they have caused the pain of millions of people and are only just now starting to see some of the consequences due to the horrible refugee crisis going on throughout the continent.
That's so true.... Thanks

While I do think, that being black in Germany can be the cause of some disadvantages, I think, it is important to distinguish between the two main factors which come into play here:
a) What does it mean to be a black person in Germany?
b) What does it mean to live as a foreigner in Germany/a different country?
Unfortunately, it alsmost impossible to distinguish for a non-German black person in Germany between those two, because if they end up in an awkward situation, they can't really know, whether it was caused by their skin colour or by their different cultural background.
Why do I mention this? I have seen/heard of several examples, in which "white" foreigners in Germany experienced/complained about the very same things, which are described here. Examples:
Staring:
It is not unusual to stare at each other in Germany. I once had a visitor from a different European country in my city and after traveling with her through the city, she almost had a panic attack, because she was so freaked out by all this staring she experienced.
Stereotyping:
If you talk to Russians living in Germany, they will tell you, that they absolutely hate, that they get confronted with topics about bears, vodka and snow/cold all the time.
Why is this important?
If we want to improve our societies, we must understand the real cause of those issues in order to tackle them. Example: It would help a lot to fight the issue of stereotyping, if the people really understood, that comments, which are based on stereotypes, are neither clever nor funny - and that the person (who hears the comment) has heard similar comments several hundred times already.
