    If this was made into a netflix series the first half would be disfigured by esoteric video game references which would not further the plot in any way. Second half about a mysterious envelope, hyped into nirvana, shown, stolen, bathed in the blood of the innocent AND THEN NEVER TALKED ABOUT AGAIN. Final episode, helping a chick you have seen ONCE in the entire series and no one cares about. If there only was a family member in the higher echelon of a company to make this high-speed-train-wreck directly crash into my frontal lobe and die. THANK YOU IT IS GAME OVER NOW.

    Knowing that I didn’t tend to break rules often so didn’t get in trouble much and was the 5 year younger baby sister it makes me wonder if my brother ever thought I was our parent’s ‘golden child’…
    Thinking he might have felt that way scares me and breaks my heart that I could have caused my big brother that kind of pain. I love him. If anything I was his little shadow that worshiped him and thought he was smart and awesome. When daddy wasn’t home I tended to stick to him instead. And I never told anyone when he did something like skip school.
    He never got found out because he still came home with A’s and B’s!!
    He’s freakin smart and learns fast.

  • @goatkiller666
    @goatkiller666 9 місяців тому

    I felt pretty out OP platonically stealing the golden child’s wife and kids. That’s some good revenge right there. She got baby-trapped, and didn’t deserve the anchor of that whole family holding her back. Saving the brother too… not so much. I guess he’s as much a victim of his parents’ poor parenting as OP was, but… this feels like all OP did was oust his parents and become the de facto patriarch. But the parents are still in their careers, still have retirement funds, and now are no longer carrying the golden child’s mistakes. They learned no lessons, and they got no comeuppance. They were just rendered irrelevant. That’s kind of a revenge, but revenge only works if the target knows about it.

  • @Carehuea
    @Carehuea 9 місяців тому +1

    Every single time I hear these stories, OPs always make the exact same mistake:
    I went their ay hole estranged family reach out to them once again, after years of no contact, OPs always has something like “curiosity, got the better of me” or even more ridiculous: “I needed some answers“ or “I needed them to admit their past mistakes“
    Invariably, though - almost 100% of the time - the meeting never meets OPs expectations.
    They are left there, disappointed, and very often with their traumas reawakened.
    All it does is show how foolish and naive OPs were and thinking that ay holes can change.
    I know we all just want to be loved but, dignity and self-respect trump s..hit..ty treatment from people who share your DNA…

    In this story, he's dealing with relatives, and the wife clearly doesn't mind OP being treated like shit. It took Reddit comments for her to reconsider her stance. OP really should look into counseling/therapy.
    OP doesn't owe them anything, and the parents created the whole situation. Now they want help? Keep the same energy that they had all those years ago.

    Man... OP just kept burying that video game analogy. Like it was a cudgel that just kept hitting me... Like in a video game where bandits come over to smack you in the head.
    Sorry couldn't resist.

    For everyone saying this is fake I actually heard this story years ago before AI was so exciting to all the redditors and social media platforms. BUT that last part was edited by AI if I had to guess. For one I remember the SIL as having like 4 or 5 kids and saying she felt trapped having kid after kid. I also remember that the contents of the envelope where explained better. As for the final update. I knew when it got that choppy upbeat trying to sound human casual that AI probably at least contributed to that. Bc I don't remember that being apart of the original story. Think I'll head over to Reddit now to see the real thing from years ago. Not sure why embelishing is even happening.

    nitpicky point of order: You do not "flip burgers" at McDonald's. They use a clamshell grill that cooks the patties on both sides at once. BTW OP should join r/raisedbynarcissists, as both his parents clearly are.

    I would just want op to be cautious with Sophie. Yeah she is SIL and mom to his niece and nephew but with his financial position and her and him working together closely. Im worried about something romantic happening, especially since he was the “rich savior” in this situation. I don’t want his kindness to end up ruining his marriage. But maybe its just because I’ve watched too many of these stories idk.

    The kid busted his ass to be successful, the parents are jealous, his brother is jealous. Or appear to be. I would not even go to the dinner. I think it is a set up. Your wife is a smart lady , but maybe a little naive. I ,as the black sheep of my family understand most everything.i was not as successful, but biught a home, had cars, always had what was needed for my kids, i lost my fath to cancer, i have not talked to my mother in 10 years. I know what OP has gone thru, all least his early life
