Lunatik Marc's vocals are just too light for 80's Freddie. By '82, Freddie wasn't even singing Love of My Life in the original key anymore. Nor could he emulate the head voice he had in the 70's. There's a reason why all the Freddie impressionists copy 80's Freddie's live vocals. It was much easier. Marc's the only one I've listened to that can come close to Freddie's 70's vocals.

People are paying way too much attention to vocals. Listen to the people playing the instruments, it is so freeakingggg good that it almost sounds like the exact song. Overall, ALL of them did a PERFECT job. I just can't stop watching this video.

I was never a bowie fan until he recorded this with Queen...all those years ago I couldn't believe it was Bowie singing with Queen. Why didn't they have freddie singing Bowie's part and Roger doing Freddie's original part? History. Marc and Tristan I close my eyes and hear Freddie and David.

John Deacon was also randomly playing that legendary bass line, then they went out for pizza, and he forgot it completely. Thankfully, Roger remembered it afterwards. That iconic bass line probably doesn't even exist now if Roger didn't remember it.

Funny Fact: Marc said “Let’s kick it” at the beginning before the music started, this is curious because it’s the same line Vanilla Ice says just in the beginning of Ice Ice Baby, song most known for having exactly the same bass line of Under Pressure. Some say it’s a copy, some say it’s just a coincidence, but for me is just good music, that’s the important thing here.
Being a Freddie impersonator in a studio or a small venue is very different to carrying it off in a stadium. Brian and Roger do NOT want a clone. It would be an insult to Freddie to use this guy in Queen. The shows are a tribute to Freddie and the music, not a cover band .
I was determined to hate this cover because in no way could anyone possibly do Freddie Mercury and Bowie justice. I'm blown away, this is amazing. It's like them but smoother. I love it.

You really have to see him live to make any judgment on his showmanship. To say it isn't there, just because he's playing a guitar or piano and performing it solo to a camera is a disservice to his talent.
His band Downhere won the western Canada festival award very early in their career. That might not be a very prestigious or famous award, perhaps, but I think it demonstrates that he knows how to put on an amazing show.
Most of those comments are repeating criticism from QuEx days. Marc has worked hard to improve his stage presence and performances. This past year, crowds have been raving about the shows.
Saw Marc Martel in Sydney late 2019 and it was the most sensational experience of my life. I was born in 1993, 2 years after Freddie passed away and it's the closest I'll ever get. Still on a high from it. So great! Would give anything to see just one concert Queen+Marc Martel

I’m fortunate to have seen MM with Queen Extravaganza years ago and with the Ultimate Queen Celebration last year and both times were amazing. I’m loathe to get into the whole Lambert vs Martel debate. The only thing I can comment on is how I feel when I watch these two artists perform. There’s no questioning Lambert’s chops but when I see him perform with Queen, it just strikes me as an Idol performance with Lambert putting his own spin on things. Sounds ok but I don’t feel anything. I appreciate the skill and craftsmanship but It just doesn’t resonate. And that’s with the remaining members of Queen backing him! With Marc, it’s something else. I’m in tears practically the whole show. Hell, I’m crying when I watch these videos. Maybe it’s simply wish fulfillment, growing up listening to Queen (I’m 53) but never having seen them live. Obviously Marc’s vocal likeness to Freddie is extraordinary but it’s also the humble nature in which he goes about things. He doesn’t prance around on stage pretending he’s Gods gift (which he is). He just says he’s a fan and wants the audience to have a good time. And to feel... thanks Marc and the rest of UQC team. Well done!!

I also wanted to say that after careful internal deliberation I do proclaim that Marc Martel just may be my current favorite vocalist on planet Earth...and not just singing Queen! I have watched countless videos of you together as a group and him alone and I have run the true gamut of emotions...smiled, laughed, cried, sighed, sang along, stared in wide eyed amazement and shaken my head in utter disbelief (in a good way)...it makes me feel a somewhat bittersweet sense of nostalgia but also a sense of knowing that these songs and this type of talent and the execution of it will hopefully never be lost. This is just me saying thank you in the only way I am able to.

Lunatik Marc's vocals are just too light for 80's Freddie. By '82, Freddie wasn't even singing Love of My Life in the original key anymore. Nor could he emulate the head voice he had in the 70's.
There's a reason why all the Freddie impressionists copy 80's Freddie's live vocals. It was much easier. Marc's the only one I've listened to that can come close to Freddie's 70's vocals.

I think it was on the Queen documentary where Brian said they were drunk with Bowie when they did Under Pressure. John Deacon was also randomly playing that legendary bass line, then they went out for pizza, and he forgot it completely. Thankfully, Roger remembered it afterwards. That iconic bass line probably doesn't even exist now if Roger didn't remember it.
I saw them live, Tristan sounded just like Bowie and Marc like Freddie. It was crazy.

Marc said “Let’s kick it” at the beginning before the music started, this is curious because it’s the same line Vanilla Ice says just in the beginning of Ice Ice Baby, song most known for having exactly the same bass line of Under Pressure. Some say it’s a copy, some say it’s just a coincidence, but for me is just good music, that’s the important thing here.
He knew Ice before Under Pressure, so I think it’s deliberate. 😂

Being a Freddie impersonator in a studio or a small venue is very different to carrying it off in a stadium. Brian and Roger do NOT want a clone. It would be an insult to Freddie to use this guy in Queen. The shows are a tribute to Freddie and the music, not a cover band .

People say he isn't that much of a showman but in my opinion hes showing a lot more confidence here than some of his other songs and I'm loving it!
You really have to see him live to make any judgment on his showmanship. To say it isn't there, just because he's playing a guitar or piano and performing it solo to a camera is a disservice to his talent.
His band Downhere won the western Canada festival award very early in their career. That might not be a very prestigious or famous award, perhaps, but I think it demonstrates that he knows how to put on an amazing show.
Most of those comments are repeating criticism from QuEx days. Marc has worked hard to improve his stage presence and performances. This past year, crowds have been raving about the shows.

Saw Marc Martel in Sydney late 2019 and it was the most sensational experience of my life. I was born in 1993, 2 years after Freddie passed away and it's the closest I'll ever get. Still on a high from it. So great!

I’m fortunate to have seen MM with Queen Extravaganza years ago and with the Ultimate Queen Celebration last year and both times were amazing. I’m loathe to get into the whole Lambert vs Martel debate. The only thing I can comment on is how I feel when I watch these two artists perform. There’s no questioning Lambert’s chops but when I see him perform with Queen, it just strikes me as an Idol performance with Lambert putting his own spin on things. Sounds ok but I don’t feel anything. I appreciate the skill and craftsmanship but It just doesn’t resonate. And that’s with the remaining members of Queen backing him! With Marc, it’s something else. I’m in tears practically the whole show. Hell, I’m crying when I watch these videos. Maybe it’s simply wish fulfillment, growing up listening to Queen (I’m 53) but never having seen them live. Obviously Marc’s vocal likeness to Freddie is extraordinary but it’s also the humble nature in which he goes about things. He doesn’t prance around on stage pretending he’s Gods gift (which he is). He just says he’s a fan and wants the audience to have a good time. And to feel... thanks

Only person I will pay money again to see in concert who performs Queen songs the truck driver passing by knew it was amazing too! I can’t get enough of Marc he never ceases to amaze me! I was having so much fun at the concert I went to that I didn’t want to leave a few minutes early
