I like it, I think Magnaflow exhausts compliment the inline six engines nicely. It gives them a bit deeper tone without being super raspy and annoying. They do get deeper over time and the sound becomes a bit more "crisp".
Nice quality exhaust lighter than stock, flows better than stock and with a slightly higher exhaust sound which is great when you want the benefits of aftermarket without the decibels.
I use exhaust putty when putting in band clamps on the joints. Once you do that the magnaflow will light up nicely. Its a proper flowed exhaust so pressure is key.
Hey man, it's nice to see you gaining so many subscribers, I remember watching your vlogs picking up your first project e46's, keep it up, and thanks for all the free information and help!
I put the 14815 muffler on my 528i Touring (only muffler replacement, all other stock components still in place) and it wasn't any louder than stock right after install. I was not happy!!! After a few hundred miles of driving the muffler "broke in" and is now a nice sound which is what you experienced. Muffler only is a little quieter than what you have with the full cat-back. Great vid -Tim
Nah, as an E39 owner myself, the Magnaflow sound is much deeper. The stock sound is downright wimpy on a 6 cylinder variant. The Magnaflow system gives the sound a richness like you've given the engine an extra half-liter of displacement.
@@Linoge279 exactly. The difference in exhaust starts to come to life only when the stainless steel decatted headers are in as well. Otherwise all of the exhausts sounds the same being it more bassy and thats all.
KillJD also have a b30, mine was a lot louder with stock exhaust and the open valve in the rear muffler than other 330's for some reason. In my car it actually hurts your ears. Outside the car it sounds amazing. Because of the drone I'm gonna get headers + eisenmann race muffler
@@PlaytowinT Ah to be fair, my car is a 325Ci with a 330Ci swap. Stock 325Ci exhaust tho. No muffler flap to start with. Got rid of the muffler and it sounds great. In fact, I was a bit disappointed in the sound after the muffler delete, especially what I paid for it lol. Now I love it. I probably don't hear any droning because I'm always blasting my music :)
Gavin definitely weld tips, i did the same thing and got pipes welded from the muffler delete to the end with tips for 120. your car will drone like a bitch if you don't weld pipes
so on websites like carID they say like "aggresive/loud" and "moderate" as descriptions of the muffler noise, just wondering how that translates to real world driving.... I'd like something a little more thrilling than stock but not over the top where it's annoying the neighbours...any thoughts?
I would add some huge speakers, record a Supersprint cat-less race system, then play it back really loud on my stereo as I drove by lookin real cool 😎 yeah, dats it. You were very kind regarding the exhaust system sound. I can’t hear you! 🤬 My guess is that the owner will watch the VID....ouch! Good job 👏🏾 as always and vroom-vroom 🚜
Was there any difference in engine response or MPG? Not sure I would buy this exhaust for the sound alone....you can get a better sound just by doing a back box delete! Though I suppose it saves some weight and costs less than a replacement OEM exhaust. Expected it to sound a bit more sporty though. I would say its makes a good OEM replacement but not really a true sports exhaust.
Yes please lol I have a 2004 zhp 330ci. Gotta pull the headlight out and heat it up in the oven so the adhesive would melt but I'd like a professional tutorial lol
@@justswippin2693 do NOT stick it in the oven. Not good for reflectors etc. Use a heatgun and apply the heat carefully. Whilst you opened the headlights anyway, go replace the plastic reflector holders with aluminum ones, so they won't break in the future.
I’m looking at buying a magnaflow exhaust set for my e46 I know nothing about making upgrades for cars. Could you just buy the end bit do a resonator delete an just have the original stock bits on the car? Some people may laugh if they read this but truly know nothing haha
You can just have a muffler shop remove your stock muffler and weld on a magnaflow or other aftermarket muffler if you don't want to replace the entire exhaust system
ShopLifeTV well obviously sounds like you know something well I’m trying to recreate the sound on someone else’s e46 that just sounded absolutely insane he said he kept the original headers had a sport cat with a resonant delete with the magna flow muffler.. what’s a sport cat would be a massive help
Chet Ubetcha you mean just the exhaust system, because I wanted to give a deeper sound. I was looking at just changing the muffler for an after market.
Depends on what you are going for, ill be playing with some option on my s54 sedan trying to tone down the rasp. Best budget exhaust system seems to be Megan racing
Loool seems like a waste of a grand to me, my friends and I threw $70 ebay headers on my E39 530i and clocked/rewelded the flanges on the stock catback and it sounds better than this
Get rid of the cats. I put a full magnaflow on my 328 with headers and it’s wayyyyy different. The cats make this a dumb purchase. Spend another $200 on eBay headers and it’ll change it completely.

GOOD THING I RAN ACROSS THIS VIDEO WAS LITERALLY ABOUT TO BUY THIS SET UP , THANK YOU !!!! OFF THE CART !!!
yeah iv'e seen a few e46 owners return their magnaflow full exhaust. Good thing you researched a bit
Ya no offense this exhaust sounds like shit tho
They take about 400 miles to get louder because they have filler inside of the mufflers and resonators
Mfs spent 1k just to make is sound like a stock 2003 Nissan Maxima

Magnaflow muffler has fiberglass stuffing inside. It will get louder over time once the material inside the muffler burns in.
Yep. A little bit too quiet. I think deleting the rear muffler it'll be right for an e39. Btw this is a very mint e39.

same here except i have racing dynamics muffler. i find headers make a big difference aswell. i also have supersprint resonator.
W S any video?
kent570253 yeah just search “Raw E46 sound! Eisenman and supersprint exhaust“

I had it on my 330 ci, its the best sound for the m54!
look up uuc tse3 then see if you like that better then the magnaflow
One grand for something’s you can’t here I’ll pass great installation by the way.
Hey man I like your channel. Good Job!
Do you suggest buying and installing headers at the time of installing a full Magnaflow system?
I straight piped my z3 and just threw two magnaflow mufflers on the end after 6 months of neighbors crying about it
My little brother straight piped his M52 and its actually quiet AF, I was surprised.
Martini is a wino mine is an m54 if that makes any difference, I also have ebay headers on
Just brainstorming here..... it's stainless, why you need to be having rustproofing on the joints?
Nice vid. Sounds pretty good (via video) for the M54 application.
I would just do a muffler delete for 40$ no big difference lol but great work u guys!!!!

Muf delete offers no performance benefits

Did the exhaust get louder after time ? It usually takes like 3-400 miles with these magnaflows to get louder.
yes its quiet!! that is essentially what you want! I am not quite sure why you guys all want the broken up spund of cherry mufflers! No sense at all!

As quality as Magnaflow kits are. I got the same results on my E46 325 by just chopping the rear-most muffler off with a sawsall.

E46 m3 exhaust recommendations?
Electric Cutout before muffler with cat less headers is best/ aggressive sounding setup for an e46 m3.

get a Borla exhaust system

does the stock oem header got cats?
