    I've been having the same difficulties a couple others are mentioning. I have a Scarlett 4i4, I've checked and re-checked the routing but I seem to only be able to get feedback.
    Is the fact that I'm monitoring using headphones from the Scarlett a contributing factor?

    Hi Hologram, Im running microcosm in mono mode receiving a mono input from my interface. Everything is working correctly except for the fact that when i load the External Audio effect preset onto whatever instrument in ableton, I hear what seems to be two of the same signal overlapping at the same time with a slight delay. Is there any way to fix this in mono mode?

    Hi. I have Scarlett 8i6 first edition. Scarlett mix control interface is different. Anyway I setup line output 3 with DAW3 and line output 4 with DAW4. In Ableton I can hear the sound without selecting 1/2 in "audio from" in the external audio effect. What's wrong?

    • @HologramElectronics
      @HologramElectronics  11 місяців тому

      In the Focusrite mixer app, you might be monitoring inputs 1/2 (direct monitoring). In any case, I don't think something would be wrong with the pedal, and I'd recommend reaching out to Focusrite support for further troubleshooting - they'll have a better idea of their legacy products/software.

    This makes no sense when routing in logic. They way my microcosm is set up in the io is the output is 9/10 and the input 1/2. For reference my prophet is on 7/8. I can get the microcosm to play sound no issue. When I route the track to 9/10 because of the way my setup is configured and then create a new audio track with the input 1/2 I get no sound. This is the way I would technically do it. I can’t get it to record the microcosm audio though. Any tips would be greatly appreciated? Please get back to me ASAP

    If I go out of a mono pedals and go in stereo mono (TRS In) do I have to use a TRS or TS cable to connect the two?

  • @jryuwah
    @jryuwah 2 роки тому

    I’m having problem with connection. I have my stereo to mono cable going out from 3/4 from the (back of my interface ) plugged into my microcosm’s “Mono/Stereo TRS input” but when I go out from “output L and R” into the two inputs on the front of my interface I get the most terrible feedback distortion. Are you sure it takes a standard guitar cable into the front of the interface?

    • @HologramElectronics
      @HologramElectronics  2 роки тому

      Happy to help - yes, you just need standard unbalanced instrument cables to run from Microcosm's outputs to your inputs. You're experiencing feedback because you've created a feedback loop somehow. Outputs 3 and 4 on your interface are likely receiving DAW playback 1/2, not DAW playback 3/4. See 1:09

    Turns out that to route my microphones into Live or a guitar and be able to feed that incoming audio into this routing, I am going to need MORE inputs.
    I have a Saffire Pro 14 which just has 1/2 & 3/4 IN/OUT... so it makes feedback if I use input 3/4 it seems :( I wish it wasn't like this, that the input of 3/4 could be routed to 1/2 output and then 3/4 output is separate...
    Anyone reading this have suggestions? I think I just need a new soundcard (mine has firewire 400 to 800 cable into an 800 to thunderbolt 2 adapter as it is... very old!) that has 1-8 IN/OUT physical input jacks

    • @HologramElectronics
      @HologramElectronics  2 роки тому +2

      I can't say for sure, but I think you should be able to make this setup work with your interface. Your interface likely has a mixer software (maybe Saffire Mix Control?). As we mentioned in this video, make sure that outputs 1/2 in your mixer software are set to receive DAW playback 1/2, and make sure that outputs 3/4 in your mixing software are receiving DAW playback 3/4. It sounds like there may be an issue with how your inputs are routed to outputs within that mix software.

    Sadly it just doesn't work like this. Check the Facebook group. Lots of people reporting distortion. I have to pad my interface -8dB to stop the MC distorting internally. Everything is set to line level. I don't have this problem with any other outboard gear. (Strymon, Eventide, Neunaber, TC Electronic, all working correctly at line level). To say this is disappointing in a piece of equipment at this premium price point would be a massive understatement. Quality control need to buck up their ideas!!
    I'll be posting a video about this on my channel soon.

    • @HologramElectronics
      @HologramElectronics  2 роки тому

      Certainly, there are different headroom levels across different gear. As we mentioned in the description, shooting for a -9db maximum peak is ideal, even when in Line Level input mode. If you find that the output volume of Microcosm's effects are quiet after attenuating the input signal, you can compensate by increasing the Effect Volume (holding Shift and turning the Mix knob up).
      Feel free to email us at support@hologramelectronics.com if you'd like to troubleshoot with us further. Thanks!

      @@studieslessonstheoryetc141 This seems to be the way. Some don't have any issues, while some have issues with headroom. Bizarrely, for some it's like me and the line level lacks headroom and so there is clipping on the input, but for others its the other way around and they have trouble getting enough signal in. It's a recurring complaint on the Facebook group with no solution as yet and Hologram not acknowledging the issue (as you can see)

  • @andrew6889-p5c
    @andrew6889-p5c 2 роки тому

    Why don’t you release a plug-in that does what the microcosm does? Why would I want to use the processor in your pedal rather than the far more powerful processor in my computer? Also, why would I want to convert digital to analog back to digital back to analog and back to digital again? You make amazing stuff, but this isn’t close to the frontier of what’s possible.

    • @studieslessonstheoryetc141
      @studieslessonstheoryetc141 2 роки тому

      If pedals using DSP is an issue for you, that's not a beef with this pedal specifically, but with basically all DSP pedals - that's a personal preference. There's plenty of reasons for outboard gear that use DSP.

    Been loving this as a guitar pedal, but it's definitely found a more permanent spot on my desk!
    One question - and not really trying to pin you down on IF this will ever be included in a future firmware update, realize y'all are busy - more just wondering if the pedal currently is built with physical components necessary for me to hope that one day the update could happen to implement this:
    MIDI automation is great, being able to write in moves, but what would be great is if we could physically perform our moves on the pedal and have that midi automation record into the DAW in case we want to make some slight corrections or changes. So yeah - it's definitely a feature request, but right now I'm just trying to figure out if the pedal has the physical build necessary to detect physical input and send the CC from the midi out portl - if not the case at least I can stop holding my breath. Thanks again for a solid pedal!

      Edit - we made a video covering this for Ableton and Logic Pro X: ua-cam.com/video/FhFk9c48VkE/v-deo.html
      No problem! We might make a shorter video that covers this, but in the meantime, here's how to do it in both of these DAWs.
      Logic Pro X: Go to File > Project Settings > Synchronization and then open the MIDI tab. Check the "Clock" box on the MIDI device that you'd like to send clock to
      Ableton: Go to Preferences > Link MIDI. Turn "Sync" on for the output of the device that Microcosm is connected to.
      Make sure that the MIDI out port of the MIDI device is connected to Microcosm's MIDI in port. Hope that helps!

    super cool outro track, thanks for the helpful vid!
    quick question: i have a focusrite scarlett 2i4, would the unbalanced line outputs on the back of that unit work with microcosm? like if i had a dual line out to mono 1/4 into microcosm, and normal 1/4s for microcosm into the interface?

  • @jojogotbeats
    @jojogotbeats 2 роки тому +2

    Hey I got confused at 1:00, you state that the microcosm’s left & right outputs are connected to inputs 1 & 2 on the Scarlett. How is this possible when the trs cable you show in the video only has 3 jacks (1 for input & 2 for output)? Is there a third trs cable involved?

    • @HologramElectronics
      @HologramElectronics  2 роки тому +1

      The TRS cable is used for the input. Microcosm has a left and right output. We ran two standard 1/4" cables from the left and right output of Microcosm to the input on the interface.

      actually line inputs 3&4 on the back of the box, not 1&2, which would be the front inputs (which maybe could be used, but I believe are usually reserved for recording in)?

    • @APB520
      @APB520 2 роки тому

      OK, looking more carefully at yr vid, it does look like you r going into the front of the box, rather than using line inputs 3&4. Is there a good reason not to use the rear lines instead?

    • @HologramElectronics
      @HologramElectronics  2 роки тому

      @@APB520 it's probably better to use the inputs in the front actually. These are high impedance inputs, which will interface better with Microcosm's output impedance. You'd have a worse signal-to-noise ratio if you run Microcosm into line/balanced inputs because you'll likely have to increase the gain quite a bit in order to get a stronger signal.
