I am hoping for another insanely cinematic experience like PoF was, but with the amount of PvE content that S4 and EoD had. And yes, it should be darker... way darker than most other GW2 storylines. Icebrood Saga's disappointment is still haunting me. But that dramatic cackle sounded promising indeed.
Also the more lore there is, the more videos you could make about it! And i am dying to get more narrated lore videos from you. Love those to bits!
We don't have long to wait, and I'm hoping the next expac will be the start of a new glorious era for Tyria. Also you're too kind!

Menzies would make for an interesting antagonist, certainly. There's a small fact in the lore of Balthazar from GW1 that might hint at a potential motive (for his renewed incursion into the mortal world, as well as his hatred of Balthazar in GW1): Balthazar arrived in Tyria carrying the head of his father, who logically would also be Menzies' father. Revenge, or some far darker purpose?
Having blasted through Guild Wars 1 last year before starting GW2, what I'd really really like to see... is a Caverns of Time-style expansion where they recreate the best missions from the first game. Because there's so much cool stuff in that first game that would be brilliant to see with the new graphics and animations.
Basically like a highlight reel of the major historical events - either with the players literally going back in time and somehow maintaining the timeline, WoW-style, or simply having mystical flashbacks where the players effectively experience the memories of the first game's heroes.
And what I'd REALLY love to see is a return to some of the nightmarish, unsettling stuff that was in Nightfall - like the mission where you're running around a fleshy landscape fighting crazy-looking demon things.

Hey Fornax! I'm curious to hear what your expectation are for the next expansion? Perhaps a short video listing the things you want to see added? I know we were told no new elite specializations, and with this rather sudden announcement, I'd love to hear from you on what you want to see along with maybe what you expect to see (optimistic vs pessimistic style).

i loved your take on it! it's always awesome to hear people's theories. specially for me as I didn't play gw1 it's so cool to hear people explain the lore from that game and how it intertwines with gw2. regardless of the prediction comes true or not it's a great video!

True! Maybe some aspect of him survived. It could be any of the Gods but yeah I think we could well be heading into the mists.
the things I hope for the next expansion is
1. housing
2. more weapons to the classes, maybe link more weapons the elite spec. would love dual pistol, rifl and bow. short or longbow does not matter and more with my necromancer:)
3. maybe naval combat
Yeahhh, I anticipate housing so much bcs of how ANet is dealing with most stuff that came a bit ordinary and made them unique and stylish (like, fishing and mounts systems are really cool even tho these things were out here for quite some time)!!!
Need elite specializations. I'll take that over anything else.

Temper your expectations for this expansion , the time frame is way to short to have new elite specs and as many mechanics as EoD or prior expacs.

they said, no new elite specs anyway, and they will release the whole feature list, not on expansion release, but time after time.

Me too, I'm so happy to have new story, setting and game features to explore, and so soon.
I’m really anticipating Envoys. They were criminals that after death were made to guide souls into the Mist. Like, Shiro after he died, became an Envoy. So the potential of 4 of them coming back all together would be really cool! (And potentially VERY dark, right after we had sweet moments in recent chapters - it seems like the way they want to go (remembering how it went with previous stories (cries about Eir ahahah)))
The possible hints for that were that souls are more often seen in Echovald (and other parts of Cantha) and seem to continue roam the land. It really looks like smth disturbed the way the souls were led to the Mists (and it was stated somewhere in the books or probably some npc’s in Cantha).

Two people I think it could be.
Who I want it to be is Shiro, who is now on track to have returned like he promised long ago like he did the first time. Especially since theres no Grenth watching over the Realm of the Dead anymore to make sure they dont escape. Not to mention hes a fan-favorite antagonist, and we've had a bunch of cosmetics during EoD for Shiro, so they have new and updated models for the outfit and perhaps even the weapons already in the game. Not to mention Factions started off with people going mad and crazy as well before being turned by the Affliction, and this was a sensation that both humans and animals experienced. And so now theres a bunch of people going insane around concentrations of a certain kind of Jade, becoming extremely hostile much like long ago. Alot of it lines up to be Shiro, especially since we're in Cantha.
Who it could also be is indeed Menzies. He is a relatively unknown antagonist and would warrant the "A New Enemy" line in that teaser.
What I would love though? Shiro, Menzies, and Dhuum reuniting to wage war against the godless mortal world once again. No more Grenth to stop Dhuum, no more Balthazaar to put Menzies in their place, and no more Dwayna to thwart Shiro's plan for revenge.
I doubt we'll see Dhuum. The Hall of Chains raid deals with him post-Grenth's peace out.
I think they would not free Shiro, bcs revenants are calling to his powers. But what really could be - is Envoys, who were villains like Shiro in life but after death were made to help the souls get to the mist. Recently, they kinda stopped. If I remember correctly, there were notes throughout Cantha saying that smth is wrong with how souls are handled (? There are a lot of wandering souls in Cantha currently, but that might be unconnected).
Envoys definitely have powers akin to Shiro, and them coming back all at once might be sick and very dark.
@fenarycalfest8732 Well, they could still do Shiro, the revenant echo is like, imagine you took a screenshot of an active conversation. The echo is that screenshot and the person is the conversation. Both can exist, and the person can still keep moving forward, changing and such. You just got them from a certain point in time and space. But either way, the Envoys could be interesting still.

as someone that don't know the Guild wars old lore this just sounds cool and may it be a Worthy Foe. Balthazar In Path Of Fire is a good villain hope they at arenanet can make someone similar in pure enmity.

They've confirmed that elites are on hold for the foreseeable future. They want to expand gameplay in other ways. We'll find out in a few months what that looks like.
I dont think so.They struggling balancing to old expac professions thats why they give up on that.But how they'll replace them with?

Some players have speculated, because Balth had Lyssa's mirror, and because she was reluctant to strip him of his powers and bind him in the mists, that their relationship was more than mere peers.

Not a fan of the evil laughter (or chuckle) as a teaser. We've had a dozen powerhungry evil laughing antagonists. If the protagonist haven't faced and killed elder gods, raised one from an egg, and already killed a god that Menzies struggled with for his multiple lifetimes, maybe I could take his threat seriously, but not with the Commander. I would much prefer a wise antagonist, or an intelligent one. Jormag was almost there but slipped badly, the Void was (as it should be) empty and void of personality. I'd like an interesting villain again now. The worse of the bad godbrothers would be just a nuisance...
The only way I can think of to make that plotline interesting is if the Commander just snaps and goes mad at this point, beating Menzies into a bloody pulp in the first instance of the story, due to the psychological burden of the past decade or so. Because come on. Beating a demon is in no way a sufficient substitute of years of therapy that we would likely need after all that happened.
Menzies sounds cool but I would prefer if it was someone completely new. ANet is big on milking nostalgia but with the end of the dragon cycle I want new stories, not warmed up ones.
Ditto. This was just my gut reaction and I love it when the devs subvert my expectation. Here's hoping for a new, new big bad.

But... Every expac needs an antagonist. What is the point to explore New lands if not for threat?
@@player554 not sure if its ironic or not.. but there are Tons of storylines and activities worth developing that don't need "the world is in danger" or "big bad army of numbless minions"
Discoveries o new cities and civilizations, detective work, racing, fishing, hunting quarries, a wedding, another wedding, developing new rutes with cut off lands, arquelogical exploration of lost cities, vacations, fighting giant piñatas, building a resort... etc etc etc...
if housing was in the works, commercial exploration in order to secure exotic goods is another.
not saying the world saving is necesarily bad... but, it has been the central story plot for over 10 years. it can get a little tiring.

Killing Balthazar's brother doesn't seem a huge issue at all after killing Balthazar himself xD
Well technicaly Balthasar where not even a god anymore. So he might not been as mighty as the time he where a acutuall god. The magic he lost was basicly old magic absorbed to get the magic not stolen by the elder dragons. Means he had some magic but he maybe was not even close as mighty as he was as a god. Means his brother now could be ways Dangerous for us than Balthasar was Back then.
Tho I would actually love If there will be some darker themed maps in the colorfull Map of GW2 cause i Loved the darker Gothic Style theme of gw1 but yea thats total my opinion xd
Youre reaching so hard with this video, theyve told us to expect a new fractal before the expansion, its very likely the new fractal. considering theyre tight for development right now theyre also very likely to reuse assets, so id predict this is a new fractal in the deep using gyala delve tunnel assets with kanaxai as the main antagonist.

Also "Valhalla", i dont think you know what this is, sounds like you only know game/book-lore of it
The "real" (or at least real world of Valhol) is a place for heroes, yes, but also villains, in fact the only real requirement is that your decent at fighting, die in battle and remain unchosen by Frejya (she choose the first 50% of the Val (the honoured slain), in which case you are taken there by Odin, where you fight each other to the death each day, and drink ale and mead and feast all night
As a real Norse Pagan (as much as one can be) it wouldnt be my choice for eternity
I dont know enough of the Game lore, because im still relatively new here, but Abaddon (irl lore) was the first to bend the knee to Lucifer - someone might correct me on this, i am no christian, so its not my area of study
All that being said, it all looks and sounds pretty good
Hope they weave it all together a bit better, having just finished the main story (pre LW & Expansions) i find the weird inconsistinces and well just overall bad writing lets this game down
Random people just suddenly join the story and we are assumed to be friends. The inventor Goor (or was it Voor) actually had the balls to explain to me what the V.O.E.D. was, and how HE invented, yet the very first story is that I invented it - its pretty much the only reason i was in the story, then he shows me it and tells me he invented it
And thats just 2 things that come to mind here and now

Can we stop calling them expansions because they're not going to be "Expansions" they're going to be "Downloadable Content". These expansions aren't going to be as built as an actual expansion so we can really stop calling them what they aren't. A spade is a spade at the end of the day and ESO has already proven that DLC works perfectly with its player base and I'm assuming that's exactly why Arena Net are jumping on that ship.
Im taking a wait and see approach and using the language the team does. That said, DLC, and season pass could well be better descriptors.
@@FornaxTheHerald I mean you're one of the better content creators when it comes to executing language used, especially in this particular circumstance just they are not wanting anybody to "devalue" the concept yet the concept is and always will be DLC. I understand why they are doing it, after all its business.

Be greatful you aren't playing on the Chinese servers, in terms of quality of life fixes, they are basically still on launch gw2.
