    Trauma doctors are responsible for treating bone fractures, cuts, internal injuries, burns, and shock. They also perform surgery to repair blunt-force injuries. Their job often requires operating on several critical injuries in the same person in order to save the person's life

      Very interesting. I didn’t know this. I’m a medical social worker. So I find this stuff cool.

    I come home from work and do NOT feel like studying at all. But, I have to push myself to become a nurse. It helps to know I'm not the only one.

    Girlfriend... after watching you power through this tight schedule, made me realize how lazy I am. Let me get my butt up. I'm glad your results are negative.

    Your vlogs are so insightful on what it’s like to work through a long stretch of tough shifts! In one of your videos, could you talk about how you get your body through long days and weeks? Specifically sleep schedule(if that’s even possible during residency) and when are good times to eat during a busy day.

    How do you mentally deal with responding to different trauma cases?

    • @WhiteCoatChronicles
      @WhiteCoatChronicles  3 роки тому

      Good question. Anything could literally come through the door. You just have to be prepared to provide the best care regardless of what kind of trauma is coming through. Afterwards, you can process what's going on mentally/emotionally. But in the moment, your focus has to be on stabilizing the patient.

    • @WhiteCoatChronicles
      @WhiteCoatChronicles  3 роки тому

      talking it out with your colleagues is helpful as well.

    I'm wondering what are your thoughts on the new vaccine? Also, if you would agree with people taking it as early as in a month or two?

    • @WhiteCoatChronicles
      @WhiteCoatChronicles  3 роки тому +3

      I think it’ll take a while to get reliable data on the efficacy and the side effects of the vaccine. Which makes it kind of scary to take so early. On the other side, a solid vaccine is really the only hope for turning this pandemic around and normalizing things.
      I wouldn’t want to take it until it’s been out for a few years tho.

    • @ameliav.5808
      @ameliav.5808 3 роки тому

      @@WhiteCoatChronicles Agreed!
      Do you think they will try to require healthcare workers to take it like they do flu vaccines? That worries me. I feel like that wouldn't be right or ethical to try to force a brand new vaccine on anyone.
      But yea a vaccine is really the only answer but I dont like that its rushed

    • @WhiteCoatChronicles
      @WhiteCoatChronicles  3 роки тому +1

      @@ameliav.5808 well with the flu vaccine, if a healthcare worker didn’t take it they would be required to wear a mask at work. We’re already doing that anyways, soo 🤷🏾‍♀️. I don’t think it’ll be mandated to take immediately though. Doesn’t seem right.

    • @ameliav.5808
      @ameliav.5808 3 роки тому

      @@WhiteCoatChronicles some of the hospitals in our system actually required it this year. If you didn't have it by a certain date you were suspended without pay which I thought was extreme 😬 (for the flu vaccine I mean)
      But yea I definitely agree it wouldn't be right to try to mandate the covid vaccine if it does really become available within the next few months

    • @ameliav.5808
      @ameliav.5808 3 роки тому

      And right, everyone will still be required to wear PPE regardless

    • @WhiteCoatChronicles
      @WhiteCoatChronicles  3 роки тому +1
