Hey man! You are legit. I am a amateur boxer from Germany, and from experience all that flashy stuff doesnt work. What does work is the basic REAL school of boxing. Technically sound guard stance and balance. Hands up as soon as you are in range etc. Keep it real, all them fans stop being fans the moment they put on some gloves and get clocked once doing some flashy mayweather stuff. Big respect to you. You keep it real and only practical. Love that aproach. Keep what works and throw the rest. Peace.

Even some guys who train I see put in way to much stock in what they see in the highlight reel and not the rounds of work the fighter did to open those cool finishes up. Not sure how many times I sparred and people just spam a low percentage move over and over. Granted I did the same when i started but a few blows to the head taught me not too.

iv'e always been taught to defend a left hook as the way you said but i only use the philly shell rarely if someone swings like an idiot out of anger. i find that when someone cant land a punch on your defence they get angry/sloppy and start throwing the windmills which are perfect for the philly shell to counter. i think the reason why floyd was so successful with that defence is because people get angry and that's when we all mess up our fight game. i just don't get how some of these kids wont use there hands to block or use there elbows in a cross defence which many old skool boxers used. i used a cross defence a few times in sparring and my friends were saying its not fair because they cant get to my head but i said go to the body. when they go to the body that's exactly what i want them to do as i can easily go upstairs after catching there low hand usually a weak jab. i also think i know some of the fight channels you are on about as they are just pure crap. i was born in 1990 and was lucky enough to have a dad that trained for years and said the basics are the key over and over again just perfect them.

I think it also has largely to do with how used to convenience and instant gratification the majority of the people in our country are today. Most don't seem to have functioning attention spans anymore.
Edit: The White people you're describing suffer from Racial Insecurity. People who are the most critical are most frequently projecting as you certainly know.
I believe that the majority of hostile White "fight fans" who only show support for white fighters and trainers, or who tear down black fighters and trainers, deep down don't think that white people can really do it.
I don't think they believe that white athletes can compete on a level playing field, and so they hold "their" fighters and athletes to lower standards.
They don't see that in doing so they are slapping themselves in the face.
They seriously undervalue the power of the will to adapt and win under adversity. They avoid adversity, and you always hear them use absolute statements like 'you and I aren't so and so' that betrays their limited black and white thinking.
This group of whites aren't the type to think, I want or need to be better, so I can or will no matter what or how long, or how difficult.
And so they as a people become a reflection of the limitations they place on themselves and project onto others.

Because it looks good. People like flash. Basics aren't sexy or fun but basics win fights. I think slipping and weaving punches would be better on the street than in the ring and here's why.
    1. On the street you aren't likely going tobbe fighting someone who can throw good punches and so it will be easier to slip or duck and than fire back while staying in the pocket as where if you are sparring you are dealing with someone who knows how to box and will be faster. On the street you are dealing with people who have little or no training so slip and roll will work.
    2. On the street there are no gloves so covering is not as easy and being hit with knuckles still hurts. If you roll under you don't have to absorb the blow at all with knuckles.
    3. On the street you are likely going to deal with someone bigger and heavier than yourself because bullies and assholes don't usually start shit with people bigger and stronger than they are thats what makes them bullies. Fighting someone 50 or 60 pounds heavier than yourself blocking can still hurt so make them miss if you can but still keep those hands up!
Those are my thoughts on rolling and ducking vs blocking.

Boxing should reward aggression. I prefer Loma and Pacquiao to Floyd.
Floyd rides a bicycle like it's the tour de France. Lance Armstrong had one ball; Floyd has none. I prefer a man with a loss who challenges himself to one who dodges challengers in order to preserve his "record".
