I have the same rifle but replaced the Weaver scope that came with it with a Vortex Vanquish 4-12x40mm with Leupold rings, very accurate with CCI A17 ammunition. Great video 👍

It was hard to tell but I'm guessing the reticle can be used without the illumination? Like the drop is still there in black when turned off?

If you want pure long-range accuracy, would you prefer this rifle or the shorter barreled SAVAGE 93R17 FV-SR?

For me you answered your own question, for long range accuracy the 5” longer barrel on the B17 FV in the same 1 in 9 twist rate will out perform the shorter barrel on the model in question. The B17 FV is also almost 1 lb heavier than the model in question, typically heavier guns are better performers as the range is extended.

Hi Jamie, You’ll notice on the paper that has the reticle information “near range in yds” on the left column and “far range in yds” on the right column, I only went over the right column in the video but that left column should give you the info your looking for.
I can’t comment with great accuracy as I have not shot targets at 25 yds but in my experience when your zero is 100 yards your shot placement at 25 yards using the 100 yard zero will likely be a bit low as your barrel does not meet up with your scope until 100 yds. It shouldn’t be too dramatic of a low point of impact but at 25 yds with a 100 yard zero I would anticipate around an inch low at 25yds. Point of impact rising on the target 25, 50, 75, until it meets the scope’s zero at 100 yds.
