If the WRX tS ends up at $45,000, this trim will be DOA once it arrives on showroom floors and dealership lots. You got the mid-cycle refresh Elantra N for $10,000 less and more performance. You got the GR Corolla while smaller in size gives you more performance, but you gotta be careful you don't go over 85 MPH and the car catches fire. You got the MK8.5 Golf R, but you can no longer get a manual transmission in the refreshed Golf R. There is no Jetta GLR/GRI (no R version of the Jetta). You got the FL5 Civic Type R, but you still can't find one at MSRP without additional dealer markup. Lastly, you got the Integra Type S while it is more in price, you get the most performance and niceties for your money. $45,000 was the VA gen WRX STI Limited money. Subaru will have to give in when they see the VB WRX tS still not being what the community asks for. Their last hope is bringing the WRX STI back. They don't have no choice if they want a next gen WRX to exist in the direction they want to go with it being hybrid or electric or both, but right now it's not the time for either of those right now. Subaru needs to take a risk and get the STI team back to enhance the FA24 or spend the money and go to Porsche and get the 2.5 Flat Four Boxer Engine that was in the Porsche 718 Boxster and use that engine for a VB WRX STI. It made 350hp and 309lb-ft of tq. That would/will be more than enough performance punch for a VB gen WRX STI.

I would argue if your going to modify it for street, only golf R really competes. AWD 400whp is easy on both cars. 45k is the new 38k for this segment. Sucks because you can get used cars that out preform all those mentioned for 45k. M/RS
Great review! VB is a fantastic gen and the tS really takes the WRX up some notches closer to the joy of an STI. In many ways it’s probably a better car than the STI. I still wish Subaru would give us that STI transmission though. But with no STI trim this is definitely the one to go with for the enthusiast.
All I want is a Crosstrek WRX with physical climate buttons. The current all digital setup is a deal breaker as the screen is already laggy straight from the factory, imagine how bad it'll get 5 years down the line.
Its not really that laggy an the things you do while driving like changing temp or radio stations or volume there buttons for or can hit the speak button on steering wheeling an tell it to change
actually the climate buttons are kinda physical. the temperature regulator, windshield heating and rear view heating are plastic buttons. more than enough imo
I know this is a different subject but when is the Subaru ascent going to get a complete redesign and also Subaru should bring back the baja to compete with the Toyota Tacoma, Chevy Colorado, GMC Canyon, and the Nissan Frontier
STI, LSD, DCCD. Acronyms for things 99% of people never use or could even feel if they were missing. The current WRX chassis drives better than the prior Gen STI with all those acronyms but nobody cares because more acronyms = more street cred. The current WRX suffers from lack of steering feel and crap brakes (which apparently is fixed with this version). If you want power to drag race, this is not the car. If you live somewhere with Snow and want to have practical fun in the snow, this looks like amazing fun. Drift around Civic Type Rs and Elantra Ns all day long, while they struggle to gently pull off the line. If you live somewhere that does not see snow, get a BRZ/TypeR/Elantra N etc etc etc.

The STI is meant to be a performance car and has front limited-slip differential, center DCCD differential, and rear limited-slip differential, just like the EVO has and my GTR has and the GR corolla has. But once again, I wouldn't expect a non-enthusiast to know mechnicals.
And even with the lack of all of that you mentioned, the TR and now TS really hold up well against the STI and the current GRC. It’s absolutely dialed in as much as it can be and not far off from the experience of those cars. I think the TR was only 1.2 seconds off a GRC on Throttle Houses track and that’s not having an LSD, being heavier, and being down on 30hp. So I’d say the hate is ridiculous. Enthusiasts drive cars not spec sheets.

The blue looks terrible and I'mnot a fan of the 19" rims for the cars at all, the 18's look better imo, Im buying a 2024 sport MT. Only athestic changes I want is wider tires and an inch lower. Suck I have to spend $5k+ to make it look the way I feel it should. Bring back the STI, these trims are a waste of money.

These cars are getting hilarious. Every year they come out with some new more expensive "trim" that has yet to improve engine performance. Meanwhile a 2018 Mustang Ecoboost is still blowing all these cars out of the water from interior, to exterior, to performance and it came out 5+ years ago. Just get an Ecoboost and be better for cheaper

Yup $44K is insane. GR Corolla and VW Golf R are way better value and quicker. A loaded STi was $45k a few years ago.

The STi isn’t coming back. There’s no reason to bring it back. The WRX is a lot more subtle than previous generations and keeping it daily useable.
