And they came in the top 10

Well done girl 👏🏻

The song itself was weird to me. There are parts that I absolutely love and there are parts that absolutely annoy me and i still cant tell if I like the song or not.
And there were two big problemas with the message at an international song competition:
1: It was targeted towards Russian women and at an international stage you probably want to chose a more international message if you want to win.
2: Most of it was in Russian and i love that, but banking on a strong message does not work if the majority of the audience can't understand most of it.
However, I don't think she went to Eurovision to win the competetition, she wanted to make a statement for the women in her country and she definitely did that.
@@maximilianmaier3950 as a Russian woman I totally agree with you. I loved the song and everything, but there was no way a message sent to Russian women durectly and only to Russian women would be winning in an international song contest.
I wasn't ashamed (I repeat - I loved it and I rewatch it whenever I'm feeling down), but it felt like when your grandparents or parents start telling to the group of your (female) friends, what an amazing woman/person you're)) That wasn't polite, I guess. You should compliment everyone)
@@Sotvoryaushaya I definitely get that! I am a Dutch woman myself. I really love the meaning behind the song, but I think internationally, we view it a bit different than if we were Russians ourselves.
We sort of see it like: "it's great that she is empowering Russian women, who deserve to be strong and powerful too, despite living in a traditionally conservative country" rather than "she is empowering us all". I think the jury and voters saw it more in the context of empowering those that might be a bit left behind in other countries. More out of solidarity. Which is still a very powerful message! And of course the part where she quotes "Hey, beauty, are you waiting for your prince?" is relatable for all of us!
@@jitske4719 I also have to say that I don't think artists should get points for their message, because it's a song contest.
I still think it was ridiculous haw many jury points malta got, even though her song was average at best.
After the news that Russia is no longer part of the EBU, I'm happy that this was their final entry.
Believe me, baby, this is not our last performance😉

My god, i can't remember the last time Russia sent a song to eurovision in their language ❤
Its crazy to think that this will be the last Russian entry we are going to see for a long, long time. Well, at least they went out with a bang. One of the strongest Russian entries.
As asean listener, i don't seems she's bad tho. This song good, and the lyrics also like "wahh russian also progressing of woman empowerment despite of like homophobia or etc". Othermore, their rival that years seems so hard like maneskin, and performance uno was carried hard too
When they showed screens with all those people singing it was so powerful.

I understood a little at first, now I understand even more the meaning. Let the change come.
It's sad that people don't get the actuall meaning of the song, and only care for the text and how the song sounds. As I'm russian/serbian I understood the text, it's about all the single mothers in Russia having to cook dinner alone without a breakdown (or if the husband is drunk and asleep already)
We get the meaning of the song without understanding the lyrics. Manizha performed it excellently!
I'd Say that the meaning is more like dealing with all the stereotypes women in Russia have to deal with. Of course it also connects to what you said. But it is also Such an empowerment to women, that the stereotypes do not define us
