I fully understand the premise of someone disliking Christmas because it encourages kids to only do good things for something, but in perspective a good thing is still being done, whether for selfish reasons or not.
Smeerenburg (meaning Blubbertown) is on Amsterdam Island in northwest Svalbard. It was founded by the Danish and Dutch in 1619. Today it is an abandoned settlement It was a centre for whaling during the 17th century. Due to the extremely cold climate, there are a few remnants of this area's historical past that are relatively well preserved.
I'm so SO glad you reacted to this film, and thank you for sharing your honest and unfilter feelings. It was so wondeful to see you not only correctly predicting the outcime of the film, but STILL finding it tender and moving. Imo it's a sign of a great reactor when you can connect emotionally to a piece of work like this. ❤ EDIT: Margu is the sweetest little girl, she gets me everytime too. Her, and the last line: "Once a year, I get to see my friend." DESTROYED. 😭
I never heard of this film, but I'm really out of the loop. I watched about 9 mins of your video here, and then I was like wait, this looks really special and I need to go watch the movie right now and THEN watch the reaction. So that's what I did. Thank you so much for recc'ing this movie. I got teary eyed at least three times. And then came back and finished your reaction, and got teary eyed again when you did omg. So glad I stopped to go watch the movie first lmao. How fun was it that the Saami people dressed Klaus like THEM. Is that why nutcrackers look the way they do? I couldn't help but notice all throughout that Klaus has a Viking look about him but it was the ponytail that made me realise it. I read on IMDB that Smeerensburg was based on a real town that existed in Norway in the 1600s. And I looked up the Saami people and they are real reindeer herders.
I am so glad you decided to watch it first cause I think it was just such a special movie and glad you thought so too. And yes so emotion which was one of the best things about it but also so cute. And I saw a couple of things too where it was based off which was so interesting
One (if not the one) of the most under rated Christmas movies I've ever watched. It is since my first time watching it, my favorite Christmas movie. Thanks for reacting to this emotional movie.
I'm glad to see your reaction to this film and am happy that you liked it, it's my fave from the first watch. It has it all, comedy, drama, MadMax-esque chase :D deep emotions, and it's not overdone, it's balanced, not too sweet, not too sad, yeah, I love it :) Have a great Holiday, may Klaus bring you something nice. ;)
I'm glad you liked this movie!! It's definitely one of my favourites it's so beautiful. I'm not sure why he's Santa Claus in English, but at least in Spanish (and probably many others but not sure!) Santa would translate to Saint, which is a title one only gets in death. That would probably explain it, and i think it's such a nice detail that he's only called Mr Klaus in the movie and not Santa then... (since after he dies he's not named again! but in life he was not Santa yet 🤧) Also, the director is Spanish and we pronounce Santa Claus as "Klaus" like in the movie, I'm guessing it might've been deliberate :D
I was touched by the movie--and by Ethan's challenge to find words (haha) when he shared his happy-cry emotions. Fine job, Ethan. Thank you. Have a good Chrissie.
My two favorite Christmas films that are actually appropriate year round are It's a Wonderful Life and Nightmare Before Christmas. You'll have two totally different reactions.
Got to this late. Looks marvelous. I'll definitely fave it on Netflix for next Xmas. Loved your reactions. You held it together better than I; I looked like freakin' Niagara Falls!
if you wanna feel really warm inside and cry untrollably again, pls watch Maudie staring ethan hawke and sally hawkins, you dont have to watch it on the channel but pls do watch it, such a beautiful movie

Yeah I think it is great just to see people doing good things in general

I have still only seen it once (twice maybe in editing) and it is still one of my favorites, I think about it so often and how amazing it is
This was a lovely reaction. All the feels from this movie. That last line - perfect delivery, perfectly swelling music - gets me every time.
The movie is just too beautiful and sweet

It's so good! I so so surprised I had never watched it or heard many people talk about it because it has become one of my favs

I actually have a reaction to nightmare before Christmas. Was a very fun movie
I adore the animation in this movie! So much effort put in to make it look the way it does!
It is beautiful

In that area Santa Clause (Saint Nicholas) was known as Sinterklass. Clause>Klass>Klaus
This movie is truly sweet and makes me cry.🥹 But it’s also so weird and hilarious.😂
