Another great video. I find it is always re-visiting locations after awhile and seeing what changes have taken place. I have noticed that trend with one e-bell being faster than the other a lot recently, And I don't understand why that is. Judging by what I have seen and by this video, I think the slower ring stands out better!!! I guess that is one advantage.
This is strange. But the Griswold Lights mounted on the pole with the incandescent set of WCH lights is where used to be Montrose of Penrose LED lights. It's strange how Kiwi rail did this. Maybe to save cost by retrofitting to old lights cause the LED broke. IDK
This video was uploaded almost exactly one month after I had been to this crossing and filmed a video of this level crossing. It may be my favourite one in the Wellington area, for the old lights.
I know they’re gone now, but I think I might actually know where those incandescent lights came from. If you look at this video of the Hutt Valley Line in 2009 (ua-cam.com/video/c-HcUM7HQ9A/v-deo.html), the Upper Hutt crossing had incandescent bulbs attached to the alley lights. By the time you filmed your 2020 video of it, they had already been replaced with LEDs (which are now also gone). I’m guessing they did a parts swap with those two crossings.

Alex, when you moved your camera @3:25 to show the side of the incandescent lights, your camera caught the WCH e-bell that’s got the faster ring
Me too

We'll never know, but it no longer matters as this level crossing has been upgraded now, so these lights are gone.

3:23 you could hear the faster one a little bit when you put the camera next to the side of the crossing
Alex: older griswold barrier units
Americans: g.a.t.e.
Here in the US, incandescent lights aren’t too hard to find, although they are uncommon.
They are extremely common on CSX and NS
Extremely common on the Seattle Subdivision too
Gisborne Has Incandescent Lights
Also, if you think the WCH Ebells in this vid ring slow, that ain't nothing compared to these: ua-cam.com/video/Rfczp-EbAWQ/v-deo.html
I’ve also got a video of WCH ebells ringing at around the same speed as the one in your comment ua-cam.com/video/sy9ZSKQOCmo/v-deo.html
gotta love these slow ebells
