- Today, I am making golden crispy fried potatoes for an easy dinner. I can't stop making this potato recipe and crave them as a meal. The best part is that it only takes a few ingredients! If you love potatoes like I do, then you definitely will like this easy recipe. The potatoes come out golden brown with crispy, crunchy edges. It's the perfect combo of textures, crunchy on the outside, and tender fluffy potato on the inside. Crispy, easy and very tasty recipe!

5 small potatoes
cooking oil for frying

Boil to make em soft, fork tender, ice bath or cold water to stop the heat, dry em, you can dust in flour, or seasoned flour. Then fry em in tallow, duck fat, pork lard or olive oil.....thats how a lot of us professional cooks do it... crispy outside, soft side

When I was growing up, we called these Mama's big fries. Usually had them with either homemade hamburger or fried chicken. To reduce the cooking time, she would boil the potatoes for a few minutes to give them a head start and reduce the frying time and oil absorption, then put them on a few paper towels while getting everything on the table, again to remove excess cooking oil. She made sure we got as equal as possible. Usually, one big on and on medium one to start with and divide them until there were all dished up. Simple things are the best. 🍟

I cut mine in thin slices. First cut the potatoes in half lengthwise, then each half make really thin slices. I usually cover with a lid, and turn them occasionally until cooked. They will be soft at that point. Then remove the lid and allow to brown, turn and brown the other side. Remove from skillet and drain on paper towels. Season and serve.

LOVE potatoes!! My 16 yr old grandson loves it when I make fried potatoes with bacon bits & onions. I start out cutting up bacon & chopping some onion & start frying them together, add more oil if I need to then toss in the potatoes…for my son, it’s minus the onions. My younger siblings were talking to me over 50 yrs ago, asking when I was coming home, they wanted fried potatoes, told them mom can cook them & got told mine were better 😂 I think I got home about 3-4 wks later, I was at Keesler AFB for tech school.

Oh gosh, this looks so good! You and I have the same potato tooth, lol! Lately I've been steaming, then oven frying with salt, pepper and oil. Steaming, letting them cool and then shaking them in the steam basket before putting them in the oven gives those fall apart, crispy bits and exterior. Oh Lord, I think I know what I'm having for dinner tomorrow lol!!!

I peel my potatoes then rinse and pat dry. I put them in a microwave container cover for about 1-2mins then I slice and fry them in the oil and they cook faster without needing to put a lid on just turn them when golden

Sometimes I parboil them first, which results in even crispier potatoes.
I love baking my fried potatoes they won't soak up oil quick and easy preheat oven 375° in small bowl mix a little veg oil, paprika, seasoned salt dip each quarter sliced peeled or not potatoes place in sprayed oil cooking sheet bake for 20 mins until golden brown yummy!

Potatotooth is such a great phrase. I completely agree that sometimes all I want is a heaping plate of potatoes. The ones that my husband & I both ate piles of, was oven fried sweet potato cubes. My best friend had trouble stopping herself too.

My mother & I used to have fried potato sandwiches for breakfast, lunch or dinner from time to time. You would probably want to slice the potatoes into thin-ish rounds & then fry them to your desired doneness/crispiness & season to your preference. Put mayo on a couple slices of bread, pile on the potatoes & enjoy your sammich! :)
