I really like the direction that Mike Grier is taking the Sharks which reminds me a lot of my favorite ex-GM Dean Lombardi which is a big tough in your face and tough to play against Sharks team. I miss those types of players from the Sharks like a Owen Nolan or Mike Ricchi or a Mark Smith type of grinder but we have had a few players like that post Dean Lombardi like a Tommy Wingles or a Douglas Murray to a Barclay Goodrow so I am very excited about our future and I hope that we can find that Joe Pavelski type late pick or even a Brock Purdy last pick would be even better haha. Go Sharks!!!!
Getting Igor and Leo at 33 and 53 is amazing. The value that Grier was able to get will be huge for us to keep the pipeline growing as the rebuild keeps coming
Hey Professor, The Sharks cupboard isn't looking like a bachelor's cupboard..bare. It's great t o ppppppppppppppppp...I feel asleep at the keyboard and figured you needed to see. The result was like 15 lines of that. hahaha Time for my old geezer nap! What I meant to say before I rudely fell asleep was its nice to see the cupboard now looking reasonably stocked with prospects. It was a good weekend for the Sharks. Probably a historic weekend time will tell. What we really need are some Justin Braun's, Joe Pavelski's and Dan Boyle types to make this draft epic. Now we hit free agency proper and I hope to see at least one more D man brought in and I would love a rugged 4th liner capable of protecting those young stars in the making. Thanks Professor. @@operasinger2126 Yeah, I totally agree. The issue is whether the casual fans behave when the losing persists. The casual barbarian fan tends to call for heads to roll as soon as anything goes wrong and then they want players gone, coach fired and GM fired. Makes no logical sense given where we are. I think if we can hang around the bottom 6 for two more years and scoop up a few more high quality prospects I think we will be ready climb out of the cellar.
good point to note about Christian Kirsch is after playing in the Swiss Jr league this past season, he'll be playing for the Green Bay Gamblers in the USHL and is committed to UMass for 2025. Coach Carvel does good work there... just ask Mario.
While they did not get the RD at 33 like I wanted I can see why they could not pass on Igor. Some mocks had him going as high as around 16 so that is great value. While we will have to wait a couple of years to see what we have in him, he should be ready to step into a middle-six role straight from the KHL. I was hoping we could draft Ilya Nabokov at 53 but COL jumped on him early. I agree it has to be an A+ from just the top three picks alone. The rest we will see in a couple years if any of them make it to the big club.
I wanted RD too. In terms of Nabokov, the sharks scouts have said they drafted the number 1 goalie on their board. So they didn’t rank him at the top. We’ll see if their #1 guy works out

Biggest needs are RHD and RW at this point. I fully expect Hensler or Tretheway next draft, maybe even Martone to reinforce the RW side
