Welcome to Thrawn week!
The Non-Canon Expert explains Thrawn's theory for how the Empire was defeated by the Rebellion in the Battle of Endor, and describes the steps taken by Thrawn to ensure that his campaign against the New Republic did not meet the same fate.

Welcome to Day 3 of Thrawn Week everyone! I just picked up my copy of Thrawn: Alliances and I’m about to jump into it. I am very much looking forward to seeing what you all think of it in the coming days.
I hope that you all enjoy today’s video and thank you as always for your tremendous support!
Star Wars Reading Club we are definitely going to enjoy this video, and also the future lit vids that are coming in this astonishing Thrawn week.

Just goes to show, if the Support dies, everyone else is screwed. Always remember to respect your Support.
I would if they'd remember to pull the jungle minions properly so my carry can farm.
(Disclaimer: I no longer play mobas, my terminology is likely years out of date)
It can also say that Mon Calamari ships and the rebels as a whole had better shielding than the empire. therefore, without supporters Tank>Damage
Imagine how powerful a force sensitive thrawn would be. Hes already pretty damn impressive without powers bcuz of his intelligence almost completely makes up for lack of force sensitivity.
Now imagine if he had force sensitives (jedi or sith) at his side, manipulated into doing his bidding.
Now we need a video on that force-sensitive admiral
Thrawns EU history is awesome, just wish we could have seen more. One of many reasons we should push for the EU to be continued as an alternate timeline.
Mindflayer911 astonishing to say the least.
Didn't Thrawn die in Legends ?
SW PL yes but there wherr clones and the chis where a power toward the end of the legends ark
He isn't dead yet just lost in space with ezra his disappearance is why the empire fell to shit
I'm living in hope he is in episode 9 . The resistance suvivers run into a BSG-esk fleet of chis suvivers and team up to finally win against the first order
Battle meditation seems like a double edged sword. Extremely deadly when used, however devastating perhaps more so against you when removed.
only if it ends abruptly, also the way it is used in the modern star wars is very different from its intended use normally you would have dozens if not scores of force users maintaining the battle mediation to improve its effectiveness and while also allowing it to be enforced through multiple users.
@@irontemplar6222 Do you have any sources for that claim? As far as I recall, almost all cases of battle meditation were performed by a single person (Bastilla, Naga Sadow, Palpatine, Caedus, Odan-Urr, et c.) often with the aid of some sort of meditation chamber, and those that weren't were performed by a group of 2 or 3 practitioners.
At any rate, it was still considered to be a rare skill (Bastilla was wanted by both the Jedi and Sith for her skill with it) so I doubt there was ever a time where scores of practitioners of the skill were alive at any one time.
@@Lilferiby old republic mostly.
However if you read up on battle meditation on the wiki last I checked it said as much.
It's not that it cant be preformed by one person it's that doing it through multiple people widens the area of effect and makes it more difficult to end it abruptly harming the people affected by it.
As far as it's been described, this seems to be the case mostly when the Sith do Battle Meditation. I don't know what happens when a Jedi loses Battle Meditation, but the effects have been show most often with the Sith. Sith Battle Meditations seems to have the more benefits than Jedi's, but it also seems to have the most drawbacks when lost
Naga Sadow's Battle Meditation almost allowed the Sith to conquer the galaxy, but the interruption irreversible caused their defeat. Darth Malak's fleet formations at the Star Forge were nigh unbreakable with Bastila Shan, but her return to the light caused the fleet to break up
They lost because they didn't intensify forward firepower!
The Battle of Endor was made an even bigger mess after the fact in Legends. Four Grand Admirals supposedly participated, even though Piett was very much in command in RotJ, Palpatine using Battle Meditation was retconned into Nial Declann... one could consider Battle Meditation playing a role in that battle a retcon in and of itself, but it always made sense to me. Palpatine likes being in control, would have seen himself more suited to controlling the situation so that everything occured exactly as he envisioned... it works for me.
Personally I've never been a fan of battle meditation, the first time I was introduced to it was in KotOR (not sure if that was its first appearance?) and it... sorta worked I guess, Bastilla was this special Jedi with an unique power that made her an important asset for either side, it worked for the story, but then, after that, pretty much everyone could do it which diminished its uniqueness, and I still wasn't a big fan of how it was visualized, or rather: how it _wasn't_ visualized.
Battle meditation is just this thing that we're told is happening and we're led to believe that it is true, but someone could very well lie about it and we'd believe them, it could just be a placebo. When I think of what battle meditation is, I'm reminded of the game Metal Gear Solid 4, where some people had nanomachines in their bodies that linked their senses together, which allowed them to do some coordinated stuff like this: ua-cam.com/video/9t81vWtgcC8/v-deo.html . I wish battle meditation was presented like that, a very clear visual indication that people are unnaturally linked together and how it benefits them.
But either way, I don't know about the battle of Endor, but I think the Emperor's death was definitely a deadly blow to the Empire in both continuities, his will _was_ what held the Empire together (I'm speaking metaphorically though) and both the Remnant and the warlords, and the First Order would spend decades destroying themselves in his absence.
Nihillo Rubra Exactly. It can be compared to a championship sports team playing without their team leader. Ppl will say it’s only one man, but if that one man is such a contributing force as Michael Jordan or Tom Brady, it’s surprising how the entire rest of the squad amounts to practically nothing in their absence. I think that’s why the rebellion was more concerned with targeting and eliminating the emperor as opposed to the empires various bases or the imperial fleet. They knew if they destroyed the emperor, the rest was essentially a package deal, as neither the empire or its policies it would sustain for long without his direct leadership.
Frank Dees I think a lot of it can also be implied from dialogue in the movies themselves. Vader came to inspect the construction of the second Death Star, the officer dude was like "we're working on it, it's hard and takes time" and Vader told him that the Emperor was coming and that he wouldn't be as kind as Vader is (which is ironic, given his propensity for choking people to death), that led to the officer doubling the construction efforts.
If you took out Vader and the Emperor, the high ranking imperial personnel wouldn't be as... driven... as they were. Fear of the Emperor's influence kept people subservient to a single cause: his.
@@NiiRubra This ability is actually quite a bit older than you think, honestly I really like it because it makes logical sense given how the force is presented.
Battle Meditation as an ability has been talked about in a fair bit of EU material, especially stuff that deals with OLD OLD OLD canon. One of the earliest stories I remember mentioning it was one of the early/mid 90s comics Tales of the Jedi or something like that where it told the story of the Great Hyperspace War that happened 5000 years before the movies. In that book the Sith Lord Naga Sadow waged war on the Republic where he mainly stayed isolated in his Sith Meditation Sphere doing battle meditation to improve his forces skills from across the galaxy, including augmenting his forces with illusory ships and beasts.
Bastilla in KOTOR was special because she was particularly skilled in Battle meditation, not because it was a unique skill.
Legends is so beautiful. If only it was in Canon. It would solve so many answers that have not been solved.
Have not been solved yet.
Nirate Goel 😂
Legends fanboys like to deny fact that only small part of it was actually good and rest of total crap. So no, Legends isn't this perfect fiction that they think it is.
Johannes Mäkilä *Expanded Universe
Johannes Mäkilä true to a certain extent 👍
Thrawn knee the Yuuzhan Vong would be the greatest threat in the galaxy once they come so it was for that reason why Thrawn Joined the Empire in the first place, if Thrawn was still alive would he have defeated the vong?, well yes but history repeats itself, and Thrawn was killed by his own bodyguard in the end.
Parker Parrish Yep. EXACTLY like the emperor, killed by one closest to him in the most critical battle of his entire leadership reign.
Frank Dees well, it was pretty fucking stupid of him to be torturing his apprentice's son in front of him during a huge battle knowing Vader's history of rage when he feels his family is in danger. Never understood how Palpatine could be so smart and then do something that stupid.
todd brown Like Luke told him, his overconfidence is his weakness. He always seemed so sure of his power, that unlike Vader who’d simply kill another in rage and be done, he always wanted to torture while bragging and smiling at his victims, like Luke, Mace Windu, etc. He even laughed during much of his battle with Yoda. This man believed he truly controlled the outcome of EVERY situation.
I would live in an empire ruled by Thrawn.
You are one of the greatest Star Wars UA-camrs of all time. PERIOD!
Personally my favorite star wars youtubers are literally on the same level. The two battling it out for my number one spot are SWT(Star Wars Theory. And in toe, is Star Wars Reading Club... And Mike Zero is where i go to drink some "tea" lol
I really would’ve loved to see episode 7 be thrawn fighting against the new republic
The Republic lasted for a thousand years, and the Empire for a mere 20. I think he's too smart not to realise that the Empire was a failure, and why. It makes no sense to me that he would support an Empire 2.0. It would make more sense for him to fight FOR the New Republic.
We should've always gotten the; Heir To The Empire 'Grand Admiral Thrawn' trilogy instead of the Disney mumbo jumbo we're getting now. sigh!
@@Aewon84 Thrawn also concidered the Old Republic weak. How long it Lasted was irrelevant. What mattered to Him was ensuring that what rose up was Strong enough to fight the coming evil he spent decades preparing for.
And a New Republic forged in the image of the Old one wasn't it.
As always, wonderful video Star Wars Reading Club!
Watched RotJ again recently. Would day it's a case of the Empire being too cute in tactics/strategy, though Emperor always walked fine line. Vader sensing Luke on shuttle but not the Emperor also points in Sith capacity to use Force diminishing just as Jedi had if RotS in where Light side is re-ascending, as military Force because they'd been on top with military initiative for so long there's an issue that unlike say Clone Troops of Clone Wars era they don't know how to adapt to radical shift in circumstance and loss of initiative
I left a like for *normal battle stresses*.
I can imagine what Thrawn felt after the second Death Star failed for much the same reason as the first! As Palleon mentioned, I wonder too, however, the fact that stories must have happy endings, tends to be detrimental, as can be seen by the Empire.
I suspect however, that the Empire lacked proper leadership, particularly given the death of the Emperor after he focused on Luke for the duration of the battle!!!
That is why I love the Chiss, the Empire of the hand, and so on. They don't suffer from issues of force debuffs, or of facing the risk of such a think! Thrawn knew well to use both the force and tactical mastery against his opponents, while the Empire used most often just a force buff.
However, given the awesome firepower of the Empire at Endor, I still think that they only needed to open fire with all weapons and then wipe out the remaining rebel force.
And as always, GLORY TO THE EMPIRE OF THE HAND AND TO THE GRAND ADMIRAL, THRAWN!
Gianluca Borg The emperor didn’t just wanna win the battle. He wanted to slowly torture his opponents to death. The battle would’ve been won almost instantly if Vader or Thrawn was in charge. Whereas they would’ve had one purpose only to win, the emperor always loves to win while bragging and smiling the entire time, like against Luke, Mace Windu etc.
Sidious didn't lose against Luke, he was killed by Vader. He also didn't lose against Windu. He came close because of Vaapad but Mace would have tired sooner than him, such was the disparity in strength. What he did was on purpose. He manipulated Anakin, turned him to the Dark Side. Had he killed Windu outright, he might not have managed to make Anakin his apprentice. Just a couple of minutes before, he cut down 3 Jedi Masters in the matter of splitseconds! It's all in the novelization. Read it if you don't believe me.
Dreadnought I’m not sure if you’re replying to my comment or the other person, but in the case of mine my point is like I said in my last sentence of my comment. Sidious likes to win his battles while both smiling and bragging during his entire Victory, like he did while bragging unlimited power while defeating Windu, and telling Luke his feeble skills are no match for the powers of the dark side while electrocuting him. He didn’t just wanna win, he wanted to humiliate his opponents while he won.
I wasn't addressing that. I am stating that there is no conceivable way in which he could have lost against Windu or Luke one-on-one. Windu was too weak compared to him, even with Vaapad and Luke was not as strong as he would later become. Torturing his opponents before death, sure. No surprise when you are as consumed by the Dark Side as he was.
Rereading your original comment, I see I was addressing a non-existent issue. Apologies.
Dreadnought No problem. While I don’t believe any lightside user could’ve matched his strengths in the force, I think there were a few duelists that could or did in fact match him blade to blade regards lightsaber duels. Even though Sidious insisted he used lightsabers for the purpose of humiliating the Jedi, he never actually humiliated one in either battle with a lightsaber even though the movies show only two. It seems all his battles that began as duels, always ended with him grinning while resorting back to force lightning.
Captain Pellaeon is such an excellent character. Disney would do well to follow in the example of Thrawn and Pellaeon and realize art is a powerful, telling, and influential thing. One of value that should not be tarnished by overconfidence or shitting on those loyal to them. It's almost like you can gleam that from the franchise itself and it's why it remains influential to this day.
Normal battle stresses are a pain
To be fair, not only the Empire lost the benefit of battle meditation, but they also suffered from bad strategy from the beginning. No Interdictor cruisers present to stop the Rebels from getting away and the big punchers stayed put for hours where they could have benefited from battle meditation the most to charge the Rebels down, at the very beginning of the battle, during the moment where confusion was on the Rebel side. The Empire would have had a lightning victory, and the Rebels would have been eradicated for good in just a few minutes. Thrawn wouldn't have made this mistake to begin with and would have proceeded swiftly, with deadly accuracy and determination as he usually doe and would have won the battle in five minutes, battle meditation or not.
No it still would have taken hours because shields are really good in star wars.
Iron Templar especially mon Cala shielding.
As for the battle, there was ONE interdictor, that’s it.
For normal battle stresses, then. Great video. Thanks.
Thrawn was an extremely intelligent one he tends to know more than he lets on
Well, I guess that's a better explanation then "they had some rocks thrown at them"
It’s a recurring theme in Star Wars about the folly of gaining power and then overly relying on it. It’s what the Emperor was all about, and it led to his downfall.
I get the feeling that the imperial fleet was designed to work around battle meditation. The lightly armored fighters, the focus on heavy battleships with limited escorts, the stiffness of the command structure, all these factors would make the Empire unwieldy in battle.
The TIE fighters are far too vulnerable to lucky hits and momentary lapses. The lack of escorts would make Star Destroyers vulnerable to Destruction in Detail if not for precise fire coordination. The stiff command structure means junior can't adapt on the fly while shoving a massive burden on senior officers.. By rights, the Imperial Fleet should be floundering in larger battles as small problems snowball into disasters and yet the Empire excelled in large scale combat.
Battle meditation, however, means that small problems stay small problems as soldiers simply ignore chaos and complications, completing their orders with machine like efficiency as officers are gifted with unusual foresight about the state of the battle.
This is the fact I remembered years ago
The Eu was better and the Disney cannon does have some good bits but Star Wars we knew is the real
This really explains a lot at endor
Great Reading my friend always cool Here Thrawn was a Formidable opponent 🖒🖒
So there we have it!!!!
This is what I love. Legends.
Really I deserved to be in the Sequels more than Hux.
I think you dodged a bullet but not being in the Sequels. Let's be honest, they would have not done you any justice.
Thrawn is beast with genius intellect.
Do any of you Star Wars Reading Club fans like myself like Stupendous Wave.
Nah, It's tiresome to read "my favourite lightsabre is anakins" in the comments all the time because he never actually finishes the Giveaway.
Taseric 100% true! Literally 98% of his fans besides me, write what lightsaber they want in the comment section!
I want Mace Windu's lightsaber! Oh...wait, wrong page
The videos were more fun when the comment section wasn't about the giveaway and they shared thoughts and suggested videos
Borastheantichrist 😂 👍
So....was Luke using "Battle meditation" in the last Jedi?
Thrawn is a very good tactical leader. If Thrawn only had freighters , he would find a way to use them.
I think that it was just because of the Empire's overconfidence. That's why Vader executes so many of them and plus the Stormtroopers are really that well trained because the Empire prefer quantity over quality. It would have helped if the Emperor brought set some of the Imperial Royal Guards.
Like the pair that he sent on break before the fight?
What went wrong for the Empire, is simple, they underestimated their enemy and it cost them dearly, when Lando said to engage the ships closer, it threw the Empire's plan into chaos, as the plan relied heavily on the Star Destroyers remaining in one place while the Death Star was to take out the rebel command ships. Of course the destruction of the shield generator was another factor as the so called Elite soldiers were overwhelmed by Teddy bears who have home turf advantage!
I think the Emperor's biggest mistake was not letting the Death Star 2 be completed before revealing its location to the rebels, I mean the Falcon, a X wing flew right into the core of the station and blew up its power generator and then flew out, if only the Death Star had been completed, I'm sure the battle would of gone differently, thou the Emperor's death at Vader's hands would of thrown the empire into chaos and whoever in charge of the Death Star would likely gamble on taking charge of the Empire and likely force a confrontation with those opposed to them and likely the result would of seen the destruction of much of the imperil fleet!
All finished this new book. Took all day, but it was a good book, a little short with only 26 chapters. But I really enjoyed how he spent time with Anakin and gre to respect him and Padme, then later on how he dealt with Vader's personality issues never making the connection Vader is Anakin.
Classic Glue im reading it now. I just cant get over how the book starts. They all go out to the outer rim to go on investigation and in both past and present timelines they give no reason as to WHY they are going... Just were ordered to check "something" out! Who writes a story like that lol
cAn you make video on the fate of Sev? or overall the Commando trooper squad.
Doesn't Stupendous Wave kind of sound like Star Wars Reading Club? I thought that they were separated from birth like Luke and Leia 😂
Zack Johnson subscriber 66 caused them to be sent to separate locations
da da da, da da da, da da da daaaaaan
I study the art of war in order to perfect it. To that ends I developed a new Star Destroyer with plasma infused harpoon guns and on-board processing plants to deal with any fucking space whales.
It doesn’t say much for the personnel in the Imperial Navy if the loss of a 40% boost meant they lost when they outgunned their opponents 10:1. Other critical factors included the immense superiority of the Rebellion starfighter force, the concentration of fire power in a relatively small number of vessels, and the Empire’s choice to deploy only star destroyers without anti fighter ships. The Executor and the ISD were like tanks and very susceptible to small, quick ships (infantry, if you like). The Empire brought nothing but tanks to the battle and were defeated by combined arms.
Honestly the new admirl doing it makes no sense back when it was palatine it made sense because abruptly ending battle mediation has a rebound effect and it takes awhile for people to recover from it.
I'm surprised Thrawn wasn't aware of Nial Declann being force sensitive.
That would have been tough. Heir to the Empire came out in 1991 and I think Declann's was first mentioned in 2003. Cannot really blame him for not knowing about a character who had not been thought up yet. Then again, that would be so Thrawn of Thrawn to have devised strategies and theories regarding people who did not even exist yet
So pretty much, the Imperials cracked and panicked once Palps died.
*Squad Broken*
The reason the Empire lost at Endor is obvious.
The Emperor held back the bulk of his forces to keep the Rebels from fleeing, so the Emperor could have Luke watch as he destroyed the Rebellion's capital ships one by one using the Death Star's main weapon. This was done in an attempt to turn Luke to the Dark Side.
This allowed the initiative to go over to the Rebellion, who attacked and destroyed the Empire's most powerful capital ship, the Super Star Destroyer.
This, coupled with the unexpected defeat of the Empire's legion on Endor and the resulting loss of the Death Star's defensive shield, cost them the battle.
So, it was that the Emperor's attempt to carry out two incompatible missions, using the destruction of the Rebel fleet to turn Luke while holding a dangerous foe in place, that cost the battle and the war.
Plot armor. Deus ex Machina. Not enough concentrated forward firepower.
I have always wondered how Thrawn compared to Tarkin. Who is the better commander?
Logan Marlow Thrawn is smarter and better in every single way.
Logan Marlow there is no way of telling! Their intelligence is equivalent to one another. One of the only ways we can find out who is kind of better in some way is the by knowing both of their IQ's. We can make some kind of determination from there.
Legate Alucard how tf do you know that in all respect 😂
Logan Marlow it is Commander Cody lol 😂 LMAO!
Becouse Thrawn doesn't use the Tarkin Doctrines which basically means to win war with mass numbers and cruelty. Thrawn knew to quietly kill rebels so they never gained popularity he woupdnt have blown up a core world out of fear
So the Gakactic Empire just simply lacked Sidious' unlimited power
I don’t know if I buy Thrawn’s explanation....often times battles can decisively shift due to random, fortuitous almost lucky events which cascade into major turning points. The Endor Battle only really turns when the Executor crashes into the Death Star, and that only happened because a flaming A-Wing crashed into the exposed bridge (the biggest weakness of a star destroyer), which then cause the ship to to enter into a hell-dive. But until that point the Imperial Forces were actually winning...
Hmm, some battle meditation...40% more efficient ?? haha, rrrright...that would mean that the stormtroopers' accuracy was even worse than we thought lol
Thrawn the show/movie would be dope
Wow cool !
So how does that explain the Ewoks owning the battle on the surface?
An Ewok force-user doing battle meditation?
Or they were just super pissed-off at the Empire.
Thrawn, the best Star Wars Character that ever existed, and best of all, hes not a lightsaber swinging wizard
Excellent content overall, but that clipping intro music desperately needs fixing since it's the only fly in this ointment.
We all know that the key to the Battle of Endor was the Ewoks. Nothing more, nothing less.
I miss the EU cannon we have now just isn't the same
Danny Allison i'm still vague on it all but after mere dabbling in Star Wars EU i can tell this Thrawn fellow is immensely better than Hux...but Disney SG seem to be more interested in SJW ideology than engaging stories
NUFCMVFC Disney only owns Star Wars. They have NOTHING to do with the creative process. That would be Lucasfilm and Kathleen Kennedy. She's single-handedly responsible for any feministic influences in the new films, but she's on her way out. One way or another Episode IX will be the last film with her in charge, and she will have no creative control.
As for Thrawn, yes he's a way better character than Hux. So what? They are both canon. It's not like Hux is some feeble attempt to replace Thrawn.
Roderic , Hux is like a feeble attempt to replace Tarkin , at most.
So... the fleet died of withdrawal?
Would it be possible to have a battle in hyper space? Like if a star destroyer was chaseing a enemy ship and some how it gets close to the enemy while in hyper space would it be possible to have a battle in hyper space?
Julian Ruiz I'm pretty sure the only way that is kind of like that is if a Hyperspaced ship comes within range of an interdiction cruiser, which can pull ships out of hyperspace.
Had less to do with the force an more Todo with force chocking the leadership untill every officer was worried about doing things wrong so they did little without direct command. With such a direct control of the navy the leadership failed to win the battle because they were not àsked to win the battle.
Does that mean Thrawn and Ezra survived?
That is legends. Or not-fully cannon in the disney time-line
You need Buffs to defeat the rebels??
Why was there a jedi master guarding palpatines secret storage?
Because it was a cloning facility and he was a clone from a clone wars era Jedi. Remember Palpatine wasnt known as a Sith at the time, and he commanded the clone army.
ekoms108 sure but cant jedi talk to each other through the force? Doesnt explain why the jedi master joined Thrawn attacking the new republic?
Thrawn is a genius!
would you want to tell people you lost to goofy looking bears think about it
The real cause of the failure, in both EU and Canon imo, is the fact that the Emperor simply doesn't belong on a large-scale battlefield. He's an awful military mind more concerned with matters of the force than matters of troop distribution and logistics and tactics. If the emperor was less concerned about grandstanding and more concerned about just killing his opposition the rebellion wouldn't have stood a chance. Not to mention how his poor leadership basically created the rebellion in the first place. He should have just delegated all non-force related decisions to others.
Ewoks are savage af dude thats whats up tho
Could we have the First Order, Resistance, and newly discovered Chiss Ascendancy fight a preliminary Yuuzhan Vong Scout Fleet in Ep. 9 ? That'd be the coolest sh*t since the Darksaber ! Plus even if they win this would be a massive with wake-up call for the galaxy. "Just because is called the Unknown Regions does not mean its empty."
I think that Snoke has pre-recorded orders and told Hux to trigger the Yuuzhan Vong invasion, and a part of the First Order follows Hux' orders, but it's just one fleet in the First Order, the rest follows Kylo Ren who supports the Resistance and then goes into exile, Rey dies in the war, sacrificing herself to save Kylo
what's the name of the jedi master in this video ?
Only like 2 months late but... Master C'baoth as seen exactly 4 min into the video
The Clone Wars is Back!!!!!!!!!!!!!!👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍🤠🤠🤠🤠🤠🤠🤠🤠🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🦅🦅🦅🦅🦅🦅🤠🤠🤠🦅🦅🦅🦅!
Is the executer class SD really designed on that way? I mean the whole ship was disabled and down by just ramming through its bridge. Come on now, shouldn't SD ships designed in a way that even if the bridge is destroyed it should be able to fire on its own?
I feel like if Vader was as open minded as his master he could have found a way to use all previous cloning technology to clone wars little cells he had to make a clone of Anakin Skywalker until it had the same Force potential he wants had a course the Clone would have to be unconscious but still I'll call when I know last and use those mechanics to regrow his limbs however he was too attached to the light and to close minded because Palpatine every time he had a chance to overthrow him in the comics he never punish them for it he actually rewarded him for it so there's that
Wait...why would a Jedi help Thrawn? Or be guarding Palpatine's stuff?
Because Thrawn offered to bring him Jedi apprentices-- Luke and Leah (who was pregnant with twins)
Read the book or comic adaption. He's a dark Jedi, and insane
Why did a Jedi help Thrown?
That jedi in the books isnt really a jedi anymore, he is a dark Jedi and to top it off he is mad, some side effect of him being a clone. So he really joins Thrawn because of the primary motivation for dark siders: to gain more power.
But why did the jedi master C'baoth help Thrawn to begin with??? You didnt explain that at all. I had to rewind repeatedly bc it threw me off so bad.
what if Thrawn was a Sith or Jedi?
Have thrawn died in the comic?
i mean the empire couldve won endor if they ordered the isd ships that were keeping the rebels locked in, into the battle i mean the rebels were getting wrecked it wouldve been way worse with a bajillion turbolasers shooting down the main fleet.
Thrawn rulling apart of the empire makes no sense consider how racist the Core worlds are aganist aliens.
Legate Alucard. Dude they fucking are!!! I don't think that's talked about enough. Like kinda a big deal in star wars universe.
Thrawn only controlled a small part of the Empire, and that was because the Moff Council was hoping to use him, and gave him limited resources.
As to the racism, there is a reason as to why he was the only non human to become a grand admiral. That rank was given only by Emperor Palpatine, and the k ow that it would only be done for a good reason, however, that doesn't mean that the remnants of the Imperial government would use him properly. Just think how the Thrawn Campaign would have gove if he was given full control of the Imperial military, instead of just a small fleet
Racism is a bit weird though. If you like an individual enough people can put aside the persons perceived inefficiencies to accept that person and even their race for a period of time.
It just makes him more badass to rule despite the racism. It's like you haye my kind, but I'm so good you don't give a shit. Fuck racism.
It's worth noting that the Core world racism was something that came in the wake of the Empire's rise. It was institutional more than it was cultural, for the culture of Coruscant was very much influenced by aliens for generations under the Old Republic. I think that the Chiss being "near human" type aliens also have helped ease some of the problems Thrawn may have faced.
Great video, but you didnt acknowledge that C'boath was a clone. Also you butchered his name, lol. I always heard it pronounced Suh-both. But I and many others could be wrong. lol. But to each their own.
1st name I've heard mispronounced "Pellaeon"..short e in todays audiobooksand sounds better not short o at the end. unless you're a fan of the early audiobooks then add a C in the middle of Coruscant and kep using the short o of Pellaeon
Let us be honest here. Thrawns government would have been better then the republic's that lead to the last Jedi.
Well, useless to discuss the influence of battlemeditation for the battle. After all there is the simple fact that palps wasn't meditating at that time.
why did a jedi help thrawn?
It was a clone of a Jedi, wich had gone mad
The reason was simple... Thrawn offered him Jedi apprentices--Luke and Leah (who was pregnant with twins).
thanks both, that clears things up
It's quite a simple matter to deduce how the Empire lost at Endor. Arrogance, hubris and overconfidence (aka Palpatine's idiocy) are what GAVE the Rebels a victory. Yes, GAVE the Rebels victory, they earned nothing, they got lucky for the above mentioned reasons, that's it. Had the Emperor listened and had the entirety of the Imperial Fleet INCLUDING but not only the infamous "Death Squadron" (Vader's Fleet led by SSD Executor) defending the Death Star II then the Rebels would've got fucking rekt very easily and very quickly. Moron Palpatine just wanted to showcase the Death Star II's power (idiot) and was WAY too overconfident. Plus, y'know, Vader killing Palpatine thus severing his Battle Meditation buff he was using throughout the battle to amp the Imperials.
Is this canon??
no
Clones can't be jedi.
Thrawn alone is a more interesting and cooler character than all the new characters in all of Disney's bullshit "Star Wars" movies combined. They had a treasure chest of decades of material to work with, but they decide to decannonise it all to make Mary Sue vs Emo boy and kill off the remaining interesting characters for no fucking reason (Solo and Obi). Fuck Disney.
It's shit like the Emperor not using his battle meditation for the battle, but some no name admiral who apparently mastered a rare Force ability on a grand scale. To attribute it to Palpatine would of shown how power he was.
This is why Legends was dumb.
There are some great moments in legends, And then there are the Stupid shit Like the amount of Super weapons just left Lying around the galaxy.
Better then Disney canon where sidious ran away from twileks in Lord's of the sith, wtf?!!
Your fucking cool dude. I don't care what they say on Reddit. Lol
I believe the "High Ground " may have something to do with their defeat.
Daniel Yahudah Israel more like home field advantage in favor of the Ewoks as far as the ground battle goes. Superior tactics and technology only works if properly used and one of the first tenets of war is to never fight your enemy on his own ground. He will know the terrain, resources and how best to fight on it than you will.
Ignorance, they lost through sheer ignorance... they believed they could just box them all in and shoot fish in a barrel. Had the full fleet just moved in closer and actively targeted rebel ships they could have decimated the rebel flag ship.
Sidious and Vader should have just killed Luke off the bat or at least kept him locked up until after the battle
Comment
is this EU or cannon
its your mum
Sometimes I wonder if you have actually read the books. Thrawn did not expect a clone of C'Baoth but he expected Mount Tantiss to be protected by a dark jedi loyal to the Emperor. I mean you can't even get that right ffs.
Imperial forces losing on Endor because they lost Palpatine's Battle Meditation power is the fan wankiest thing I've heard in Legends yet.
label it legends dude
Battle meditation is a stupid explanation.
Please put Legends in the title next time
Dude do you actually read the books? I swear everytime you say something from a book you get at least part of it wrong. Thrawn expected to find a dark Jedi at the mountain, not C"Baoth. He didn't even know the Jedi had been cloned. Christ get it right.
