🌟 DESCRIPTION🌟
Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth takes place in 2023, and follows former Tojo Clan yakuza members Ichiban Kasuga and Kazuma Kiryu as they embark on a new adventure in Isezaki Ijincho, Yokohama and Honolulu, Hawaii. Following a tip from a former ally, Kasuga travels to Honolulu in search of his biological mother, Akane Kishida, who he thought had died many years ago. Meanwhile, Kiryu is also present in Honolulu in search of Akane per the Daidoji faction's orders, and teams up with Kasuga to find and protect her from various local criminal organizations while wrestling against cancer.

It’s not a large part of the game but as someone who lives in Hawaii, Hilo specifically, I can appreciate the fact that it goes over just how difficult it can be to live on the islands
I appreciated that aspect too. of course nowhere is truly “a paradise”, but for example, I was surprised when the game brought up how Hawaii has a lot of homeless people who’d come from the mainland. had no idea of that (I’m in California).
@@Sune oh yeah, the state gives them cash and they just fly on over without a plan, there are programs over here and the other islands but they can only do so much, that’s not even including the homeless problem just from Hawaii itself
Giant squid and fighting sharks aside, somehow Kasuga bringing Nancy and his hero bat past US custom is somehow the most unbelievable thing to me :D
Hell him getting through immigration with a murder conviction is the most surprising thing. Cause if you got a criminal record you are never getting in the US

I’m convinced that Kaiji Tang had a lot of fun voicing Ichiban in the English dub here! Some of his reactions for various situations and many of the substories just freaking destroy me with laughter! XD
Also this is a massive me thing here and I’m gonna get some flak for this, but personally I don’t think Yong Yea’s bad per se. Yeah, there are definitely some better choices for Kiryu’s voice, but I don’t think Yong Yea’s a terrible choice by any means. He does do a fine job with that calm, stoic tone I think of when I hear Kiryu speak and then some, but to each his own.
Yeah. Tang is laying down a better performance (he's my current heavy favourite to win The Game Awards' Best Performance in 2024), but if they had a dedicated Actor in a Sole/Primary Playable Character Role (and, yes, he's a co-primary) category, I think Yong would have an outside shot.
I think Kiryu sounds cold asf, especially at 13:14:08 and 13:15:25, combined with his looks it's just beautiful

Gotta say this was a really great story and quite the rollercoaster of emotions! I didn't mind the English VO, it sounds like the script was actually written in English and the VO actors did a good job. I choked up at times, some of the scenes were really touching. The animation was great too, very realistic. Agreed that Kasuga was a big-hearted idiot but that did work out for his friends in the end! Giant shark and giant squid were weird inclusions lol Curious to see what happens next for the crew! 🦈🦑🐧
They have the song judgment in the English version, that’s amazing

Something I don't understand and can't be bothered to look up, so I'll ask it here (with the benefit of it being relevant to in game): What do -san, -chan, and -kun mean, and why are they not used at all some times? -san seems to be used for addressing someone older or in a senior position, -chan for a same "level" friend, -kun for a junior. But Kasuga called Aduchi and Kirua -san, but Nanba was just Nanba (and Kiryu called Kasuga without any suffix), while Chitose and Eiji were -chan. 🐧
Two things that I was hoping for: Firstly, Saeko would’ve be Kasuga’s girlfriend, but she rejected him. And secondly, Kiryu would have a happiest life with either Sayama or Akame, but instead wounded up being a 11am inpatient at the hospital. Although I would love to see Yagami and Mafuyu dating again after getting back together 2-3 years ago, get married and live happily ever after in Judgment 3. Cause this is what I’m hoping for.

Man, Saeko is so obnoxious. I feel sorry for Ichiban if they end up together.
Also, the Kriyu and Majima English dubs are trash. I still prefer English dubs for the overall convenience, but they really botched the VA selection for some of the characters. Fortunately, most of the dubs are at least decent.
