Tom Morello gear: Marshall head with Peavy cabinet
    boss tremolo
    cry baby wah
    digitech whammy pedal
    boss dd-3
    Dod graphic equalizer
    mxr phase 90
powered by either brick power supply or voodoo lab power supply

Fun Fact: The neck pickup in Arm The Homeless is a single-coil disguised as a EMG! So in my opinion back down the gain, go with a bright humbucker (passive) or a strat style neck pickup, ALWAYS use the neck pickup!!

this guy isn't a bad player, but the BD-2 just doesn't push hard enough for Morello's sound. I'd honestly thinking about swapping it out with something like an SD-1 or even a ProCo Rat.

First, lose the humbucker guitars, single coil, neck position all the way. Then use a british marshall kind distortion, Marshall Guv'nor classic works well, a JHS Angry Charlie could work also. The rest is ok IMO.

Tom Morello uses some very unorthodox techniques. The guitarist did about as well as anyone could have trying to recreate Toms sound

The opening to Killing In The Name Of is definitely not an Ibanez or even a flanger. Try an MXR Phase 90.

Who thinks the catalinbread dirty little secret is a much better foundation drive than the blues driver? Legendary Andy Martin when doing pro guitar shop’s riff of the day, used a dirty little secret and the Digitech whammy for know your enemy. I think he also used the CMat-mods brownie for bomb track, and an MXR distortion there for killing in the name of.

I think that an MXR Distortion+ would be better suited for Tom than the Blues Driver.

I think Morello used a proper Distortion pedal, not an overdrive. Can't remember if a MXR or a BOSS one.

There's a rig rundown with Tom saying he gets all his gain from the JCM800

Not tremolo, this effect is make alternated the pickup selector switch, more overdrive (with max gain) and more flanger...

He didn’t use the Ibanez in the intro of killing in the name he used the phase 90

Yes he did at the time of the recording he got rid of it about the time when audioslave was formed bc it was unreliable he said ....all that flanging effects on the first album was an Ibanez flanger just they were crap and would sht out easy he now just uses the mxr phase 90 when playing it live
