I love Stalogy for it's paper, flexibility of use, sturdiness and design. Mine is for daily whatever - planning, notes, art, whatever. I use two Hobonichi Weeks for work and personal. Used to be an Erin Condren girl with stickers and fancy layouts. Since then, I've switched to a very minimal spread. In the Stalogy, I number the pages and add an index at the end.
Thank you for the video ! I LOVE Stalogy notebooks, the paper, the number of pages, the B6 size... It's definitely the best notebook I have used in years.
I love the stalogy notebooks. I’ve been using them for about 3 years now. A6 for edc with a chic sparrow leather cover and an A5 that stays home. This year I switched to standard size at home, well I think I’ve become a paper snub. I hate the notebooks for the standard,,I miss my stalogy really bad and I can’t even tell you why I love them. I’ve never felt more satisfied in one notebook. So I’ve ordered another A5 and I’ll have it cut to standard.
Great review! This is my first year of using Stalogy notebook, and my only concern was ghosting because I'm used to thicker paper, but it actually doesn't bother me at all. I love it! 😊
I’m new to Stálogy. I have a B5 as the space is much needed. Plus having a notebook for the entire year is what I’ve been hunting for. I would love to know how to minimize the ghosting. I’m thinking Stabilo #88 pens and Midliner highlighters aren’t good choices at all. As I surprisingly found out. I’m even thinking of just using Staedtler Mars Lumograph drawing pencils. What kind of ink pens do you suggest for this issue?
Thank you for this review. Currently on the lookout for a good b6 notebook I could use as my planner and hopefully will contain the full year. This definitely looks to be the answer to that. Fully customizable too. 😊
Thank you so much for your thorough review! I just placed an order for the A5 and B6 365 journal ❤️ I am super excited to get them. I’ll be converting 1 into a 5 year journal with a setup similar to the Hobonichi one, and the other I want to use as a personal growth journal. Thank you for your inspiration
So I use the A5 stology and I find the grid is really hard for me to see it's so faint, I was just wondering is the B6 Stalogy grid a little darker than the A5? Thanks
Hey! So based on looking at both of them side by side, I’d say the grid lightness is the same on the b6 and A5. If a rhythmic, I find the b6 grid appears lighter because it’s a .5mm grid and not a .4 mm grid! I hope that helps!
@@KaitlinGrey thanks! I agree the stalogy is the best notebook, I just wish they made the grid a few shades darker. I mean I don't want it so dark that it jumps off the page when you look at it but enough where if there's writing on the back of the page you can still see the grid on the other side. I guess I'm just going to start doing my complete bullet journal layouts in pencil first before going back and using a fine liner. Maybe that'll help some lol. thanks for getting back to me have a wonderful night! 🤍
Hey you’re so welcome! I totally see what you mean, it’s definitely really light, which can get challenging in low lighting conditions in my experience 😅 But you know what, pencil is always a good idea!
Kaitlin, loved this video, watching the next one in this series right after this one. I'm currently in a Hobonichi Cousin, but I have an itch to move on to a bullet journal and doing that in a Stalogy.
I ordered mine 😊😁😊 I'm super excited to get it and start my journey in it....I got b6 stalogy notebook expensive journal but from reviews I'm excited try it and got stickers washi tip-ins for it got new cover I deringed myself lol for it it's my war journal on the go stay in my purse with my bible I keep in my purse...I keep two one for house and one on the go
I have been wanting one but could never make my mind on what size. I think this video sold me on the mini A6 . Thanks! Great info! The only thing that keeps me from actually buying one, is the pen bleeds. Where would you get a cover for the small one like the pocket one you have?
Thank you so much, I'm so happy to hear you found it helpful! I've found a good way to help with the bleeding is to use a felt tip pen, they tend to show less than gel pens. As for covers, the smaller notebook, many leather cover companies make a6 covers so there are tons of options! I love buying covers from Stride Ridge, Sojourner and Gillio (they all have a6 covers)
You’re welcome! I believe from smallest to largest the Stalogy sizes go a6, b6, A5, b5 and then a4. I have both a b6 and A5 Stalogy and the b6 is much smaller!
@@KaitlinGrey That's right, but from the look of it, the one you demonstrated on in the video is not an A6, it's an A5. The medium-sized one you showed is the B6 and the largest of the three is an A4. The German DIN sizes (A4, A5 etc.) go down in number as they get bigger (? thanks, DIN), so an A6 would be half the size of the smallest notebook you show on screen. Sorry to be nit-picking because I found your video really helpful, but for those of us using the DIN sizes, it's confusing ;-)
I’m from toronto as well. What is the name of the store you mentioned you got the journals from? I didn’t quite grasp it. How much was the B6 size approximately?
Ive always been kind of interested on the hobonichis, mainly because they are Japanese 😅... but the very thin paper and extreme ghosting deterred me from buying then. This looks like a much better option. I def would love to try these for 2021 as my bujo, the small one I would use as a common place notebook. These would be nice to use for that 5 year journal even.
I found that Hobonichi notebooks also are much worse when it comes to smudging compared to the stalogy! I've been using the B6 size as my bujo this year and I'm so so happy with it. The only question is....how long until it fills up 🙊 And yes, Definitely! If I had a extra stalogy around, I probably would have use a stalogy but the Moleskine was a lot easier to get a hold of, you gotta work with what you got 😝
@@KaitlinGrey I agree! I am debating whether to use the Moleskine or the Stalogy for that 5 year journal... 😅😅😅 I would like the one that would have longer durability, I guess since 5 years means the journal could get a lot of wear and tear. Which one do you think would be better suited for the long term and stand the test of time?
I'm not sure if there is a specific name for it (if anyone knows, drop a reply below!) but it is very similar to tomoe river paper, except less resistant to fountain pens.
@@tiitulind9792 I really don't know if it is, I just checked the packaging and amazon and it says nothing about the paper being acid free. I'd recommend doing a deep dive into google, there may be more information there 😄
@@KaitlinGrey I took a new one out of the wrapper today and it smelled horrendously... try sticking your nose between the pages when it's new lol... It's getting better though 😅👍🏻

Do you know how many squares are in the A5 grid by any chance?
I'll check right now! The a5 grid is 0.4mm (the a6 and b6 are 0.5, so they are a bit bigger) and 48 squares long and 34 squares wide!
@@KaitlinGrey thank you so much!!!

(This is only based on the size of your hands, so if you have petite hands and the notebooks are much smaller, then excuse the correction :-D )
Haha no worries, I have very small hands! That’s why I always go by measurements.
Thanks. I believe the B6 binding is a sewn binding.
It is!

I gotcha! It’s called Laywine’s, it’s on Cumberland in Yorkville 😄 I think I paid $36 for the b6 size (in Canadian of course!)

It depends on the size but it ranges from $26-40 Canadian! The size I use most often, b6 is around $36.00 from my local stationery store
