@@pointreyes4272 ABS consists of master cylinder and brake pump and most of the time it's the master cylinder but I didn't want to take chance since the labor is expensive. Dealer labor is over $2000 and shops varies between $1200 to $1400 to replace both components. Each component is a little over $1000 at the dealer but internet price from dealer is around $600 each at a few online dealer. I didn't want to buy from ebay or junkyard since mine broke at 81K and I am not sure how long I am going to keep the car but it seems to make sense to me to replace both new because of the labor. I was able to find a company to rebuild the brake pump for $325 which includes full rewind, new commutator, bearings and brushes so it's like new. I couldn't wait for my mobile mechanic so I watched several youtube and after half a day I was able to replace both and ask my mobile mechanic to do a brake bleed with new ABS. The battery on my 2012 Prius C went out a couple years ago around the 250k mark. Local Fred Anderson dealership gave me a quote of around $4,300 to replace the battery so I went to a local mechanic to have it replaced for a little less. If the cost had been around $3,000 I would have had Fred Anderson replace it for the reasons cited in the video. Overall I love that car and it’s given me very little problems. I wish they still sold the Prius C in the USA, but they now sell it only in Asia and renamed it the Toyota Aqua. Once it finally conks out I’ll likely replace it with a non-hybrid RAV 4 because they get reasonably good mileage and the difference in mileage doesn’t seem worth the extra cost.

@@AnotherPilot1not really. Did some quick math.
Let's go conservative. Let's say a Camry Hybrid gives you 35MPG vs a non-Hybrid giving you 25. Divide those figures by avg yearly driving of 12k miles and the hybrid will save you roughly 140 gallons yearly. Times that by 10 and you end up saving 4200 in 10 years.
IF the battery needs replacing, you're still saving 1200. Most don't need replacing in 10 years and having owned both the Hybrid and non-Hybrid Camry's the MPG diff between both cars is closer to 15, especially in the city.
At the worst you're still saving some money. On average you're saving a lot of money.

My 2014 Toyota Camry Hybrid was new when I bought it. Hybrid battery died just 1.5 months over 10 year warranty with only 70K miles. Cost of repair per local dealership is ~$4800. This is the most expensive repair that I ever had. I had been a royal customer of Toyota for many years due to its quality but not any more. Toyota's quality went south as it is ramping up the sales. I will not buy another hybrid or EV until its battery either lasts forever or becomes cheap to replace.

Thats just the minimum as stated here.then each service departments or private shops will have different charge fees.they will always overcharge as posible because you can't complain once they are done with the job.they can say they do other stuffs or the parts are harder than usual to replace which will adds to the labor cost.they can also delay the service just for you to think they are having hard time or some parts are still on waiting to arrive their shop.all you can do is to pay them after and you can't complain period.

@@jackcollin1695 ~ I would not want a hybrid they have the complexity of an ICE engine as well as the lithium ion battery, software issues and electric motor, and they have all the problems an EV has, plus the maintenance of a ICE engine, where as a purely ICE vehicles are much simpler. Hybrids are good as long as the lithium battery is good, when it expires the car becomes most likely disposable.

Can you discuss in detail what is and is not covered by the 150,000 mile warranty? In other words the battery is only one component..How about the myriad of components that if they fail, result in the vehicle to leave you by the side of the road. To me, if this warranty is to be meaningful, any situation causing the vehicle to break down should be fully covered for 150,000 miles!

If you are worried about how the cells are doing, use the free Dr. Prius app for your cellphone (also works on Camry hybrids etc) and one of those $10 OBD2 Bluetooth modules for the car. Yes. They turn into money pits. See, it's not just the battery. Once you start racking up the miles, you need to address the engine and all the things that require maintenance. So you have to deal with 2 sets of issues. By then, the car has depreciated to the point that it's simply not worth putting all that money into.

Second bite of the apple having a 2013 Prius V before. neither hybrid lasted long. absolutely no mech problems with either in the short period i owned, but having just turned 5900 miles on my 4Runner in 3 months ownership, GAWD the ride comfort of the 4Runner, the piece of mind in owning one of the longest lasting Toyotas they have ever made, the mumbling around the true future cost of the hybrid (dealers don't want one in-trade with high miles), the miniscule savings, yes the corolla got 50mpg at 77mph, 62mpg in mixed city driving vice 19mpg in the 4runner at 77mph; but I didn't save enough in fuel costs to make it noticeable in my living expenses. And when Toyota waves you bye bye at end of warranty at 150k, omg the rabbit hole you will fall down trying to find an honest dealer to replace both your battery and your braking regenerator, all to save just pennies of fuel cost today.

Yes, hybrid has great milage but when battery went bad, you need to buy new/used battery. For gas car, you still can drive it but the MPG will drop over the time.
If you're not driving a lot, hybrid is not your choice. Because if you drive less, your battery will drop the capacity year after year.
