Javion Magee found dead near Henderson with rope around his neck, sheriff says

- An investigation is underway after a man was found dead beneath a tree in Vance County with a rope around his neck. Javion Magee, 21, who lives in Illinois, was found Sept. 11 in a parking lot on Vanco Mill Road, near Henderson, according to the Vance County Sheriff’s Office. Candice Matthews, who identified herself as a spokesperson for Magee’s family, told WRAL News that he graduated from Longview High School in east Texas.
Magee was a delivery truck driver, and his truck was parked in the lot where he was found. A search of the truck yielded the cellphone and ID that helped law enforcement know who he was.
Magee was found in a seated position near the base of a medium-sized tree with a rope wrapped around his neck, according to Vance County Sheriff Curtis R. Brame. The other end of the rope was attached to the tree.
Matthews claims that law enforcement told the family Magee died by suicide.

There needs to be a toxicology report on the young man. I know a woman that did hang herself from a bunk bed and used a belt. She had taken some sort of downer and drifted off to sleep and strangled herself.

Let’s not jump to conclusions until there is a release of the footage and an exam from the medical examiner. My condolences to the family! As a behavioral health professional I say we never know what someone is battling in silence! Trust I’ve seen so many young people who seem perfectly happy and healthy who are depressed and feel defeated by things in their life where I work. We hope it’s not racial violence! Check on your family and friends mental health especially the men cause we often don’t have the outlet cause we are told that’s a sign of weakness to express our feelings and emotions and keep things hidden out of fear of judgement.
