  • Rjukan is a popular town in Telemark for tourists to visit. It is most famous for being the nearest town to the Hydro Plant that produced heavy water during World War 2.
While watching this peaceful walk through the town you will notice the Gunnar Sonsteby Statue. This brave man played an important part in sabotaging the heavy water production as part of the Norwegian resistance. The statue pays tribute to Gunnar.

we had a cabin up on top over Vemork, but it was sold back in 93 when I was 22 so I took a trip back there this summer and it was mostly the same as before so after 30 years to see the place was strange since now I and my sister are the elders in my family, but the town and the mountains rivers buildings were the same, it was a little sad feeling since the place did look the same it makes you miss your ancestors so much, but I needed to take that trip to old stomping grounds, and I was so happy to see that the cabins were in great conditions and people can enjoy what we had and it not was wasted away :D

Thank you for sharing your personal insights into this beautiful part of Norway. I saw many of the huts while driving across the plateau. The landscape really evoked wonderment. I’m glad to hear the cabins are still being enjoyed by future generations to come. Best regards, Rob 😊

Hi there! Would it be alright for me to use like five seconds in my UA-cam video to show what this city looks like? I am using it as an illustration to talk about Light Reflection. Thanks so much!
