As chris has said in other videos, a beetle can throw great heat if the heating system is running as intended. heater channels, control cables and boxes all hooked up and working you will be plenty warm enough for most driving conditions.
Back in the 70's, the Beetles were a dime a dozen, they were everywhere, one man in my area had about 50 and someone out west came and bought all he had in stock--probably made a Fortune selling these in Ca....
Nice tips.I'm a beetle lover and intend to buy one soon or later. Here in Brazil, specially in my state that was colonized by germans about a century ago, is not difficult to find some bugs still in very good conditions. The price varies btw U$ 3,500 to U$ 5,500, but i think they worth it.
What if you want one just to have fun in but you want it reliable? All your beetles are absolutely beautiful, I’m curious what your personal bugs looks like!
@@classicvwbugs What if i want to buy a car and can't do inspection of the bottom or the front suspension or the battery area because the car is full of junk? should i pass, Or negotiate for a lower price due to not able to inspect it fully? Thank you! great channel!
@@classicvwbugs he said that he would remove the stuff which is mostly tools out when I buy the car. I wanted to see the battery tray area to see if it was rotted and I could not due to all the stuff. I wish I had taken a magnet to check for Bondo but forgot. There are no dents on the car and it is mostly complete. The isterior is missing the door panels and the padded dash is cracked as usual. Excellent thanks for the advice, that's all I needed to hear. How much would you pay, ball park, if everything else seems to be alright. Just so I can make a counter offer thats not too low. I appreciate the help man. Btw, excellent videos, very helpful.
Hey Chris first off good information and good video. My question is where is your shop located? I live in Southern California, I bought a 1960 Volkswagen Beetle when I was in high school in 2001. I ran it for about two years before I started to get into mechanical problems such as my generator went out and my brakes did not hold the fluid. At this time I had to retire my Volkswagen as I started college. Now I'm the time where I can finally get back into getting working on my car.
I just got to thinking about the nose looking thing, I wonder if that was put there to look somewhat like a stinger, and the "W" that is one the back is supposed to look like a bugs wings on its back.
Davis Kilpatrick do you know the name of the colour that’s your talking about I like it to and I want my bUg painted that’s colour so that’s why I’m asking you the name of the colour
DO NOT BUY a beetle if there is harsh weather conditions, I own one and the heater is terrible and the engine hates the cold. If you do buy one make sure you have a bigger motor to blow the heat or get a gas heater add on.
Hey, I'm looking at a 64 bug (rebuilt 1200 engine, Rust has been repaired in the trunk and a spot on the floor, It will need new floor pans eventually) My concern is that the right heater channel is rusted through in several places. the holes are big enough to stick my finger through. They are asking 5k for it. It starts right up and drives great, the interior is nice, and its looks very good on the outside. Would the heater chanels be something to deter me from buying the car?
Incorrect, 50s beetles had black beading, 60s bugs onward may of had a shade close to the color of the car, but they were not painted on the car. Part of the reason you want to look out and see paint on the beads is because you do not want paint caked between the bead and the fender. good chance it was a cheap paint job.
Hagerdy lists the average value at $12,500. You should be able to still buy one that needs restoration and engine work for 3500 bucks though I would imagine.

either they buy it, or I restore it for them.
Nice video. Thanks.
Any of the cars in the background are for sale
Don't think so, this video I did is 11 years old. What are you looking for? I can find it for you.
Gee, fender welt isn't painted body color. Seems you forgot something that was painted at the factory.

What is the name of the colour on the 55 rag on the big you are showing in this video
Does does someone buy a beetle that you are restoring?
¿Whats color Is that? 😍
Where can i get wite walls for my 63 VW?
The dude lives in Norway. Do you own a Volkswagen?
Just if your at a dub show. Ik I look for shit that is sweet. So make it your own. Just my preference.
would you called improved HP (custom) or is that a area where your willing to give a bit of slack
Yeah that is fine to me. In my opinion, as long as the motor looks stock, but it is beefed up? That's cool.
i knew i liked this guy lol
how much do they cost herbie style
How would you know what is a good price to buy a neglected 69 (not entirely sure) vw bug?
All depends on how complete the car is really. How rotted it is, etc go to collectorcarmarket.com and see
what is the price range
Andy Martinez our beetle '75 cost us 5000€

Are 69 Woodstock bugs commanding big dollars now? Bet they are to some people.
Not sure, I have been getting this question a lot this past week. Time will tell. So far I do not see a huge jump.
