About Fellow Travelers:
Created by Oscar nominee Ron Nyswaner (Philadelphia, Homeland), based on the novel by Thomas Mallon, FELLOW TRAVELERS is an epic love story and political thriller, chronicling the volatile romance of two very different men who meet in McCarthy-era Washington. Matt Bomer plays handsome, charismatic Hawkins Fuller, who maintains a financially rewarding, behind-the-scenes career in politics. Hawkins avoids emotional entanglements - until he meets Tim Laughlin (Jonathan Bailey), a young man brimming with idealism and religious faith. They begin a romance just as Joseph McCarthy and Roy Cohn declare war on “subversives and sexual deviants,” initiating one of the darkest periods in 20th-century American history.
Over the course of four decades, we follow our five main characters -- Hawk, Tim, Marcus (Jelani Alladin), Lucy (Allison Williams), and Frankie (Noah J. Ricketts) - as they cross paths through the Vietnam War protests of the 1960s, the drug-fueled disco hedonism of the 1970s, and the AIDS crisis of the 1980s, while facing obstacles in the world and in themselves.
Nyswaner and Bomer executive produce with Robbie Rogers (All American, My Policeman). Daniel Minahan (Halston, American Crime Story: Versace) executive produces and directs the first two episodes. Co-produced by Fremantle with SHOWTIME, FELLOW TRAVELERS was produced in Toronto.

Queer Through the Generations | Fellow Travelers | SHOWTIME
• Queer Through the Gene...
I love it when the main cast, directors, producers, and costume designers are all out and visible queer people, telling a beautiful queer love story ❤🥹
*gay not queer.
Jonathan Bailey proves time and time again what a great actor he is. You deserve all the recognition and achievements you have had. I wish you a bright future. Matt Bomer is not far behind and both knew how to put themselves in the shoes of their respective characters.
I totally agree, I don't understand why in some comments they try to say who is better than the other. They both have great chemistry and complement each other as characters, they are both incredible.😊
👌❤️❤️❤️👌👌
Not far behind? Matt is flawless
Dude what a beautiful interview. Queer actors being able to tell a story this important. Gosh I'm emotional
Not queer. Gay.
@pjw1980 I am aware both Jonathan and Matt are gay, but I don't know about the others. If they're bi or what, hence the use of the term queer.
I’m pretty sure “bi” people wouldn’t want to be called queer either.
@@pjw1980 queer is an umbrella term
They are gay actors, not queer.
seeing senior queer individuals talking about their experiences always brings tears to my eyes 😢 the hardship and terror they have experienced till society accept them.
They are gay men, not "queer individuals."
@@sol1dj0hn I was intended to make it more general: lesbians, bi sexuals, trans people, etc.... all of them. in psychology they are called queer community and even in the movies this term is used. Is it something wrong?! ...I'm confused cuz English is not my first language. I just repeat what I heard.
@@Rey.89 This is from the 11th edition of the _GLAAD Media Reference Guide_
*Queer*
An adjective used by some people, particularly younger people, whose sexual orientation is not exclusively heterosexual (e.g. queer person, queer woman). Typically, for those who identify as queer, the terms lesbian, gay, and bisexual are perceived to be too limiting and/or fraught with cultural connotations they feel do not apply to them. Once considered a pejorative term, queer has been reclaimed by some LGBTQ people to describe themselves. However, it is not a universally accepted term even within the LGBTQ community, so use caution when using it outside of describing the way someone self-identifies or in a direct quote. When Q is seen at the end of LGBT, it typically means queer. In a setting for support, particularly for youth, it may mean questioning.
@@RaymondHng thanks for explanation ♥️ It makes more much sense to me as someone who have lived in a different culture with ESL 😊
The first episode was so impressive.... Bomer and Bailey are powerhouses of performers - it's well worth watching.
This show is so heartwrenchingly beautiful. kudos to everyone involved!
"What would you say to your younger self" : the rupaul's drag race of it all. Love it
Beautiful cast, beautiful show. So grateful to be alive in a timeline where I can witness a show like this come true.
Jonathan is so eloquent. I could listen to him speak for hours. Let me hear more of your thoughts sir please 😭
I'm so excited to see Matt Bomer in this. I will watch once everything drops 😭
I love there are so many queer people involved in this 👏 There is so much to relate and great advise there at the end. Thanks to everyone involved.
the show has been incredible so far. i found it through a random recommendation on UA-cam and never have i ever been more grateful for watching it. Jonathan Bailey sealed the deal for me but i am staying for much more than him.
there should be more interviews of this kind, its the first time i have come across one like this.
all the actors are absolute gems, can't wait for the next episode. i am so thankful all these people have dedicated themselves to such an important part of queer history.
This is so amazing. But like it would have been nice to see queer women too. Like the community extends beyond men and I feel like media can forget that
I think it is covered in the series. The book doesn't have that plot but series does
@@mehrinahmad8468 ok yay I hope so
It's a shame that queer women often don't get the spotlight, especially if it's not animated.
By queer women I assume you mean lesbians?
@@pjw1980 or bi women. Any women who like women would be great
Jonathan is just beautiful
I just watched the series and I learned a lot on history, on challenging my own uncomfortableness with parts of it, and just so taken with the level of acting and beauty in the love stories.
This is so beautiful and so important 🤍
I might be wrong but is the entire cast of queer community because if it is than it's about damned time!
It is! At least the main cast of 4 (Matt, Jonathan, Jelani and Noah) and the directors, exec producers, and the costume designers ❤
@@taromilktea4834 Hooray!
Gay not queer.
@@pjw1980 we are not here to argue semantics but to celebrate the moment.
@@tashadent150because you’re obviously not offended by the term queer. I am.
Fell in love with Matt Bomer all over again..god that beautiful angelic man..how can someone look into his eyes and not fall for him
Matt ❤ Jonathan 💙
This is by far the best gay series I have ever seen! Congratulations to every one who participated in making this story come to life! ❤️❤️
This is beautiful. I'm absolutely going to check this series out.
I will cherish this excellent show in my lifetime. This is so raw and hit close to home.
Not me crying
samee
I feel so grateful. This show is so important.
Beautiful series!! Reaching so many hearts!! Bravo to all❤️❤️❤️
Having come of age as a young, newly-out, gay man in DC during the early 90s, this series brought back so much of what were emerging from, and what we LGBTQ people STILL fight to strive forward from. I found Fellow Travelers: simply incredible; fascinating; infuriating; and beautiful. A sense of freedom from discrimination began to really blossom after Election Day 1992, with still so much work still ahead from a hateful, harmful era. Thank you to the entire team of writers, cast and crew, and to Showtime, for putting forth a brilliant piece of work that captured true life in such an artful way.
Great interview. Makes me emotional ❤
This show is so important and beautiful, the whole cast and crew deserves all the recognition and applauds 🤍🫶
Such a beautiful video and positive message.
❤ great show
Thanks for the series - just a masterpiece
that was beautiful
Jonathan Bailey is impeccably watchable. We already had Normal Heart and Philadelphia. Isn't it time to do a contemporary story around Bailey?
this literally mad m cry hearing their stories
La Serie merece una Segunda Temporada. ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Such a well crafted and produced show. I understand it took many years to bring it to life and am so thankful to all these talented gay men and everyone else involved for making it a reality. It's interesting and provocative, romantic and sensual, educational and thought-provoking, entertaining and sometimes challenging to watch. All the things that make a show great, regardless of the subject matter. I hope it receives the awards recognition it deserves.
Best show ever.Heartbreaking
I mentioned this show to my college students today and they hadn’t heard of it, or of Stonewall, or of phrases like “friend of Dorothy” ☹️
Unfortunately, we're not taught things like this in school. I'm a queer woman, and I thought I knew a lot about our history but the show had things in it I'd never heard of. I think that's what makes it such an important show to watch
this show is SO GOOD
Love Jonathan Bailey 🤩
0:50 I need to see this scene on the show asap😭
this is so precious ❤🩹
I spoke, loud and proud, about being homosexual in the 70s. Of course, I never did have a successful career. In the end, I think I contributed something more important than money or fame to society.
Okay, I'm crying 🥹
I'm a ugandan and today on my tiktok account I made a video of LGBTQIA I'm gay but before posting it I looked at it and said to myself that,I can lose this job,I can be killed, the police can come for me like right there and then and most ugandans would be happy for any punishment I get,my family has no power to protect or save me so with tears in my eyes I decided to just cancel it but I asked myself will this ever end?, and I can only imagine how hard it was for all the LGBTQIA people before us
Lovely
This is the best
Wow ❤
I got emotional 🥲
I used to date a homophobic guy and then one day he said f the queers and I walked up to his sister and kissed her in front of him lmao
So you sexually assaulted his sister?
Wouldn’t that just reaffirm his views? You both suck
I am here just for Matt ❤️
I came for Matt and fell in love with everyone else. They're all incredible!
Really said find the joy when I know for a fact watching the series will be ✨pain✨
Every gay man under 50 should watch this series in order to understand and own their legacy.
❤❤❤
Where can I find the episodes
Showtime or Paramount+ with Showtime.
♥️
I am watching this amazing show and I actually feel so close to these characters, knowing that there were, and there is, a lot of real people, men and women, living like that. It makes me feel so angry, it's such as a big injustice, people who can't live their lives as who they really are, but pretending, and lying and suffering.
💖🙏 All My Tears, All My Love and All My Incredibly Big Support goes to all My LGBTQ+ community, and especially to My Gay Men, who suffered A Lot (Horrors of Homophobia, Discrimination and Oppression) same as Me! Stay Strong and Don't Loose Faith for hopefully better days will come for us.
Oh the guy who plays Tim is British
Jonathan Bailey is in fact a Brit and portrayed Anthony Bridgerton on the second season of the Bridgerton.
🥰🥰😙😙🥰🥰🥰😙😙
👏👏👏🌈💜🙏💜
Queer is not a synonym for gay. It's an ugly epithet, as the characters in this excellent show could tell you. Stop, already.
❤❤❤
