It always blows my mind when religious beliefs are more important than human rights. Religion has played a huge part in the violence and suffering in this world but they feel the need to be protected when in most cases they are the oppressors.

In my religion (Christianity) we are taught to love everyone no matter who it is or what they have done What they do is not right the teachings we have are that everyone can choose if they wish to follow or not so these people arent the Christians i know

That's the problem with religion, at the end of the day most of the people believe whatever their are preached. There are muslims that claim, like you do, that their religion does not mandate women to cover their heads, but plenty do!
The only solution is to realize all religions are made up stories, some are good, most are not, and we don't use god or religion to evaluate what is wrong or not.

Niemöller was correct however kind of left out the LGBTQ Germans who were amongst the first sent to the camps history briefly mentions as a side note.
The SA and the Nazis ransacked the Institut für Sexualwissenschaft in Berlin in 1934, they made media reels of them publicly burning all LGBTQ literature and research from the institute, along with other literature that exposed their ideology for what it was.
Even after survivors were freed from the camps, many LGB, (T were just classed as gay men or cross dressers) found themselves in German jails for being LGBTQ as it was illegal some where still there and tortured in asylums until the mid 1960's.
Actually the first line, "First they came for the Communists, and I did not speak out---because I was not a Communist", has been left out to make it less offensive to American anti-Communist activists of the 1940s & 50s, especially Senator Joseph McCarthy and Representative Richard Nixon and their minions.
My 'activism' began a decade before Stonewall and I've not stopped 'fighting the good fight'.
In 1993 my partner and I were the first same-sex couple to file a federal discrimination suit naming the
AG of Arizona and the Clerk of the Pima County Court as defendants for denying us a marriage license.
We most ALL vote Blue up and down the ballot!

This is for me think tank the heritage foundation and they have no political control over what Donald Trump will or will not do as president . Secondly you didn't hear one thing in this segment not one specific thing that threatens the gay community are the civil Rights we have achieved . All you heard was a bunch of words that had absolutely nothing to do with nothing just fear-mongering something I don't even think any of these people have actually read .
I will never speak against another person's faith but, in my opinion, faith should not govern over our bodies, or any of the other beliefs we hold for ourselves. I want them to worship, have their faith and live long beautiful lives. LGBTQ+ people want to live long beautiful lives too. That's all.
The scary thing is, is that the Christian extremists have been infiltrating mainline Protestant and moderate Evangelical and Catholic churches, parish by parish, and using the Bible to win the liberals and moderates of each congregation over to their side, just like the Islamic extremists have been using the Qu'ran to win the liberal and moderate Muslims over to their side.
This is a very important topic. We've seen this before, with McCarthyism and also under Reagan. The policies Reagan put in place had profound negative impacts on the whole country for two generations.
Some important things to keep in mind:
1) There are over a hundred different denominations of Christianity. These so-called Christian Nationalists represent maybe like three of them. They are not a majority of the country, and not even a majority of Christians, but they will be happy to tell all of us how to live our lives.
2) The Heritage Foundation was not created by religious people. It was created by a handful of super wealthy families. It's agenda is to use religion as a political tool to manipulate voters to vote against their own interests. They aim to increase the power of the wealthy and decrease the power of everyone else.
They use minority groups like gays, trans, blacks, and immigrants as scapegoats and distractions. The strategy has a name: Divide and Conquer.
Those super wealthy families would be horrified should a Christian Nationalist federal government (gods forbid) ever turn on _them._
More than conservative. It is reactionary.
I call it Christian National Socialist!
Need to ALSO focus on LGBTQ Seniors - unless you don't intend for the young to age past 40.
I admit, this may be a bias, but I am under the impression that a significant part of 50-60+ queer people are actually comservative in that they support transphobic Hate speech organisations like LGB Alliance, do not express the need to learn about the nice and polite trans terms to use and which ones are either hurtful or Code Speech slogans for anti-Trans hate groups, or thet they despise the term Queer, or are biphobic.
I realize this is judging the entire 60+ community by Anti-LGBTQ Boomer stereotypes.
I realize a portion of them might be open-minded.
Great and well needed discussion. Educating and raising awareness is how we overcame past challenges. It’s not too late for community action. Apathy is our enemy.

The whole thing was nothing more than a hit piece and fear-mongering . The one subject they did bring up was the don't say gay legislation in Florida that doesn't even say that . I don't want my third grade grandchild being taught sexuality in school to begin with . And yes I am gay .

We educate our kids about safety in so many ways, but these folks suddenly want complete ignorance of a potentially dangerous topic? Crazy! Sexual diseases can kill you. Sexual ignorance can create great harm and it does every day. We should not be letting one person's religious views on sex dictate what happens for everyone. Opt out if they want to, but they don't control what my kids learn.

I wouldn't call it a cancer but I like to liken the 'conservative' movement to Kudzu or Covid-19 because it really acts like an invasive plant that smothers the political ecosystem and it infects the body politic like a virus.
If you can afford it I’d move to London. The Culture Scene there is amazing. Or move to Barcelona, a strong LGBTQ community there.
Also, the fact that LGBTQ people are deciding to leave the US due to anti-LGBTQ laws is depressing.
In 1969 I was 19 years old and trying to promote gay rights. I was in touch wuth the Mattachine Society and the Daughters of Bilitus. Since those days, I never use the word 'queer' and neither did any of my friends.
I know everyone thinks 'see me for who I am'. But how you present yourself does matter. I am not 'queer', you are not 'queer'. We are homosexuals. 'Gay' is a good placeholder.
Dear Neil: I agree with you. The Q***r word means "something that doesn't work the way it is suppose to." To apply that word to a human being is not polite. When I was a teenager in the 1970's and 80's that word and f*g and f****t were used to degrade and humiliate. In other words, they were cuss words used to inflict pain.
I decided to start using the word in reference to myself because I was tired of the alphabet and mouthful and I was tired of these people having power over me by using these words such as queer and f**** so you know what I started using them in reference to myself so they couldn't use them as a weapon against us. You certainly don't have to use them but please respect why I choose to. These labels that they have given us aren't there to give. Besides that in England f**** just means a cigarette and another place is queer just means different or unusual and I am all of those things plus ashamedly I also smoke cigarettes. Yes I'm gay. Yes I'm homosexual. Yes I'm all of those things and more. I've taken their weapons away from them as we all should. No shame.
A lot of hate groups like the LGB Aliance hate on the term Queer - as do all of the conservative Anti-LGBTQ political and religious groups. If you don’t like the term don’t use it. It’s been used in ACADEMIA by Academics writing about LGBTQ history for DECADES now and is not a perceived as slur.
I identify myself as a queer man. The same way same LGBT individuals have reclaimed the word "faggot" others, including myself have reclaimed "Queer". The term was once used as a pejorative but now I personally use it as an identifier
Queer people can call themselves queer if they want to. You're free to not label yourself that.
You will be treated the same way by people who want to take away trans and gay rights regardless of if you use that label.
This label discourse is unimportant when we are 5 months away from a Trump administration abolishing all the progress the community has made over decades of fighting and dying for rights and recognition.

The American Dream is full of rainbows.
The gay and lesbian communities have always been divided between the assimilationists and the activists. Back in the late '80s, when Act Up! and Queer Nation were marching in the streets, the activists seemed to be ascendent. Nowadays it seems like the assimilationists are the majority. Which leads to gay and lesbians making political partnerships with people wo want them dead.....and in some cases adopting those peoples' ideological positions on gayness. I've had multiple gay Republicans make it clear to me that the see "gay" is not something that they are, or something they were born as, but rather they see it as just their sexual kink. That's right out of the right-wing playbook of gay being a "lifestyle choice".
When the big sponsorship money started flowing, the assimilationists rushed in to soak it up.
If that money goes away, they'll hand things back to the activists. Who knows, some of them might even become activists.
What you are describing is awful, the conservatives who don’t identify as Gay but see it as purely sexual. You put well in words a saddening process that is breaking the Community.

Well I just subscribed to your channel so I hope it helps you with the UA-cam algorithm and you get more views but I sat through the entire segment on project 2025 and I did not hear one example of policies in project 2025 that are going to directly affect the constitutional are civil rights of the gay community which is what I was here for and although I have already seen and read most of project 2025 I heard no particular policy in policy in project 2025 on your segment not one particular policy was mentioned . Just a whole bunch of fear-mongering but no particular policy was discussed . Once again fear-mongering is not cute .

Trans folks are people who are attacked just like gay and lesbians. Why wouldn't there be mutual support? Besides trans people are sometimes gay or lesbian. Why would another human being be worthy of contempt just for being who they are? I don't see what is hard to understand.
Trans people and gay people are different but our rights are mutually inclusive. Your gender identity and which genders you are attracted to are related phenomena. Furthermore, we're both seen as queer by larger heteronormative society.

@@robr3633 I didn't need sex ed to explain gay sex to me, I naturally gravitated towards sex with men and they gravitated towards me naturally. Why do you need to explain to 5th graders they way I have sex? Those kids will go that way naturally on their own, just the way I did, and many others.
@@INFJEmpath Nobody in 5th grade is taking sex ed. And no, mentioning queer history and the fact that queer people exist is not sex ed. Older kids should be taught how to have sex safely and responsibly so they don't get taken advantage of or catch an STD. They're going to have sex eventually either way. It's a question of whether or not they know what they're doing and how to avoid danger when it happens.
Similarly, no parents want any religions to be taught to their kids in school. Practice what you preach.
