  • Note: In this video a mounting jig is used for mounting the NIS plates.
    This video shows how to change from SNS binding system to NNN bindings on cross country skis with a mounting jig.
    The video shows how you drill the existing Salomon SNS bindings off your cross country skis and how you fill out the holes to avoid moisture getting into the ski core.
    And finally we show how you place and drill on the NIS base plate to install the Rottefella NNN bindings.

    Thank you! I couldn't find this information on Rottefella's website as their install PDF for the Touring Auto Combi NNN-NIS has a bad link. Great video.

    I removed my Salomon SNS bindings and easily fitted the new Salomon Prolink Pro Skate NNN binding in the original holes. The balance point was the same.

    An easier alternative is replacing the SNS binding with an NNN-compatible Prolink binding which uses the same screw holes as the SNS binding.

      Hi Magnus - Yes your are spot on with the Prolink bindings from Salomon would fit directly with the same drilled holes in the skis from the SNS bindings:) The case with some cross country or roller skiers is that they want the specific NNN Rottefella brand. But you are totally right with your point.

      Hey! Yes, and if this video is aimed at do-it-yourself skiers it would have been informative with instructions how to mount NIS plates without access to a jig.

      Hi Magnus. It is true that not every one has this jig available for mounting the NIS plates. I will like to make this point clear and besides changing the title of this video and the description I will try to look into making an drawing that would be available for people without a jig. I will not promise 100% that I can make it but I will make a try. Thanks

      You're welcome, and thank you. I believe Rottefella have what they call a paper jig in PDF. Otherwise one can use the NIS plate as a template.

    Nice ... but the easiest way is to migrate to prolink because screw holes are matching SNS one.

    would it be the same procedure if i had a new ski with no mounting plates put on it at all. In other words a bare ski.

  • @systemfan8
    @systemfan8 Рік тому

    Except Prolink bindings there is also Rottefella NIS plate which is made specifically for SNS holes, so no need to drill at all

    what kind of glue for the kick plate?

  • @martinmartin5904
    @martinmartin5904 5 років тому

    Hi. I want to know if it's the same procedure with the IFP plate ? I mean by that , do you have to use another special jig ? Across the web , there no info about how to mount the IFP plate . Even Fischer doesn't give any details . Hope to find some simple template to do that correctly . I don't allready receive my ifp plate by mail , but hope there some ''0'' center point on it .

    • @SkatePro
      @SkatePro  5 років тому +1

      The IFP plates are mounted the same way as the SNS bindings of Salomon. If you don't have a jig like that, you are able to mount the IFP without it. You have to find the balance point (BP) of the ski and place the balance point of the plates exactly there (also stated on the IFP plates). Mark the mounting holes and drill the holes in the skis after that. On the skis there is stated, which drill you should use 🙂 Feel free to contact us if you have any doubts!

    I bought new skis (SNS), but I want NNN:s from my old skis. When I took the NNN of, it didn't have the NIS plate on it. Will the NNN:s fit then to the new skis?

    • @SkatePro
      @SkatePro  6 років тому +2

      Hi Anitti. Some editions of the NNN systems do not have the NIS plate but are drilled directly into the skis. The holes from your old NNN bindings will not fit the holes from the SNS bindings. In principle, it is the same you should do as in the video, namely:
      1. Screw out the old bindings carefully.
      2. Add in wood glue and plastic plugs
      3. Let dry.
      4. Remove excess plastic.
      5 Find the balance point.
      6 Use the balance point for mounting the new NNN binding.
      NOTE: Remember that the new holes have to have distance to the old holes in order not to make problems for the new bindings :)

    The little plastic plug above the rear screw on the SNS binding...How do you get that off?

  • @imanskitrack1168
    @imanskitrack1168 3 роки тому

    Два старых от SNS отверстия можно было и оставить, использовать их для платформы NNN. Так получается через каждые 5 мм параллельные отверстия, лыжа может и пополам сломаться..

      Тут же он показывает как на NIS перейти. Чтобы не сломалось, опять же он показал - специальный заполнитель отверстий + пва клей. Остатки он срезал.

    13 holes in one ski?? how will the middle part of the ski work afterwards?

    • @SkatePro
      @SkatePro  6 років тому +1

      At first sight, it looks like a middle part of the ski might be affected by so many holes. However, it was already tested by our in-house skier and he admitted that there is no big difference after mounting NNN bindings on his cross-country skis.

    • @CarlMadsen

      Looks like the balance point is centered between the first two pair of holes in the jig. The holes are 40mm apart, so I'm centering my balance point 20mm between those two holes. If you did the same last year, how did that work?

    Can i use two of the holes from the SNS sistem to the NNN ?

    • @SkatePro
      @SkatePro  5 років тому

      Hi, you can only use the Prolink binding, since this is the Version for NNN from Salomon.

    • @Magnus--Johansson
      @Magnus--Johansson 5 років тому

      You can actually use the three front holes from the SNS binding if you are replacing it with an NNN binding that is directly screw mounted like the Rottefella R3 model (i.e. not an NIS binding). The pivot point will then however be 24 mm behind balance point (if the SNS binding was mounted at balance point). Reusing two of the SNS holes for the NIS plate is more difficult because the width between the holes is 1 mm too wide for the NIS plate; the pivot point will also change although it can be compensated by setting the NNN-NIS binding to another position than 0.
