- The final part of the Olympic Club video series! This course was an absolute beast with the greens being as firm and as fast as they were. I hit some terrific shots on the last couple holes to make a couple easy brides. It was much needed and I finally got the W over Mike!

What did you think of the US Open?? TV ratings for this years US Open were second worst in history... Not a good sign, what would you change?
Tough to say. Graphics are getting better (shot tracer, yardages, green slopes), but the drama revolving around the lead isn't there. Viewers want to see big names at the top. In response to this, it'd be fun to see a premiere series with the top 16 golfers and every tournament the bottom 2-4 drop to a premiere B division. This will allow the the audience to get used to rooting for the same top big names while still allowing new players to qualify and climb the ladder into pro.
Golfholics Phil Mickelson withdrawing hurt ratings. The big names in golf didn't make the cut. The course was okay but nothing spectacular for TV viewing. I'm not sure what program it was competing with, perhaps Netflix and UA-cam is swiping away viewers as well. I watched a lot of it. Especially Sunday.
Golfholics I tuned in the 1st day to watch the US Open. Instead, I got the Wal-Mart Open on some god awful looking cow pasture with a sub par announcing crew and a leaderboard of names that could have been confused for a Web.Com or Canadian Tour event. Turned it off after 1st day andnever watched another minite. US Opens should be played on a permanent rotation at places like Olympic Club, Pebble, Winged Foot.
Caddiesense Totally agree with you on the announcers. They were pretty bad.

Awesome series on Olympic Club. Started watching your vlog's in the spring while recovering from rotator cuff tear. They've been a great motivator while going through PT. Can't wait to get back to the course.
I loved this video! As an OC member, I've seen this happen a hundred times to good players on their first trip to the Lake Course. Mike, don't feel bad...nobody makes three footers regularly on that course. Too quick/too much slope. It turns even the best putters conservative. Members know better than to bang putts past the hole and it's as easy to three putt from 3' as it is to hole your putt. The first hole lulls the neophyte into the thought that "I've got this"....then it gets harder and harder, never letting up until you hole out on 18, mentally exhausted. It never lets up, rather taking every opportunity to trick the player into letting his guard down. You can freewheel here on your best day...after a few dozen rounds under your belt. Ask Jim Furyk, Hogan....or Arnie (God rest his soul). Most people don't even figure out how they've been beaten until they've played it a dozen times. I've never seen another course where single digits will nearly always shoot in the high eighties (or MUCH higher)....on a good day. It is diabolical and I'm so blessed to be able to play here until I die....or run out of cash, whichever comes first. In fact, even if I do run out of cash, I'll find a way to beg, borrow, or steal to stick around this awesome piece of real estate.
You lucky dog! OC is an amazing course and easily ranks in our top 3. I hope we get a chance to come back out there and play it again at some point.

260 yards..... love you guys, you make me feel super awesome. I hit my longest drive a few days ago 326 metres on the flat no wind. Thats 356 yards. I am not the best golfer but driving it like Bski def helps. Now I just need youjr short game.
Such an epic trip with memories I will cherish for a lifetime! Every course was so unique and special in itself which made this trip so fun. Great footage Marko and Mike, keep it up!!

I have always loved the lake course...so straight forward with one fairway bunker and no water, yet unbelievable difficult. The Bill Burger is awesome.

Another great video. Always happy to see a new video from you guys in my sub box. As far as the open went, gold needs a dominant star that's always in contention. That's what made it so big with Tiger, even if he didn't win, he was always in contention. DJ was playing great but if he can return to form after his injury will have to be seen.
Could be mistaken but i get the feeling things were feeling a little rushed out there? Never played Olympic but from what i hear i'm sure they wouldn't have any issues rushing a group that was recording while playing there.
Another great video on a beautiful, beautiful golf course. This was the first time we've seen Mike struggle. To what does he attribute a performance that wasn't up to his normal standards?

So I think the problem with the US Open was all the people that only tune in on Saturday and Sunday realized the top 3 in the world (and a handful of other top pros) weren't playing.

Mike, hope your neck is back to normal. I did the same thing a month ago and haven't been able to golf since. Argh! But it's a reminder to appreciate the good days and not take them for granted.

How do u get money to play these amazing courses
Great finish Marko! That wedge was heating up towards the end! Speaking of, what sand wedge are you playing currently? I just bought some Wilson Staff FG Tour irons, and got rid of my Cleveland CG15s, couldn't play em to save my life! In search of a nice affordable wedge that's a little more forgiving, any thoughts?
camaroboi13 I'm playing the TaylorMade milled wedges and I really like them. Picking a wedge is similar to picking a putter in my opinion - it's all about feel.
camaroboi13 I just picked up a 50 degree TM milled wedge to fill a gap. Very happy with it. Depends on what you think is affordable. Mine was about $160.
What a beautiful course. Less than perfect conditions and super fast greens and you both played it well. So cool to see these great courses that I would otherwise never get a chance to see. Thanks......

Been playing for 2 months and have already got my average drive up to about 270m and hit about 14/18 fairways. So it's pretty consistent! :) You guys give me inspiration to get better and tackle on harder courses
