I am with you. You are so right! Roof bike racks can be quite cumbersome. Unless you’re looking to add a little extra cardio to your bike trip by lifting weights on the roof, better to keep it on the hitch!
You did it! Thank you so, so much! This was informative. I had no idea there was more than one type of hitch rack, for example - and one with wheels? Yeah, I am so over taking the wheel off of my bike and wrangling it out of, never mind into, my trunk. The nightmare rack story of the one falling off is exactly what I have been scared of, but more so killing or maiming someone in a car surrounding me, not so much the safey of my bike! I figured that never happens, that I was being too scaredy cat about that, but it has! Odds are still very low, I know, but worst fear has been realized at least once. Now, it comes down to which one. Too many choices! I may have to bit the bullet and spend some money for peace of mind. Thank you again, so glad you did this Ride & Shine.
Hey! So happy you found the vid helpful! I feel you on the bike wheel struggle-no one wants to be a bike-wrangling circus act. Just take your time picking a hitch rack that works for you! If this helps I have a hitch rack Kuat 2.0 I feel it is very sturdy. It is expensive, but I am a biker for life so it was worth the peace of mind and added expense.
Wonderful information! I didn’t know about the vertical hitch bike racks!
Awesome! I’m happy you found it interesting! I didn't know about Vertical hitch racks until I went to a mountain bike event.
never use roof bike racks, they are way too heavy
