I will say, for the people talking about how pale he is, a lot of the difference comes in the shading, which is more light grey on his person, while the portrait is a natural pale skinned shading. The base colours, from just a glance, I'm not gonna bother with a colour picker, but I would probably guess the base colours would be somewhat similar, just with the base colour of his person being far more desaturated to help compliment the grey.

So Japan is on the more open side on these kind of anti-humanity stuff. 人間失格 (lose qualification as human?? um...) which is about a sucidal guy is actually a classic must read literature in Japan.
