I remember starting to follow Manu online in 2001, the message board I was on would post highlights etc, and I remember in 2002, telling my fellow season ti jet holders in march of 02, “hey we got this guy coming next year, he’s gonna be a stud” I still get to boast to them and they always say “yeah he knew about him before and called it!”
Wish Tony wouldn't have played for Charlotte there at the end... The fact that he retired as a Hornet makes me sad :( Still, TP is (and will forever be) my favorite PG! #9
people say he was great because of Td but for me a diehard Manu fan I'll take tp over cp3, nash, dwill, lilard, westbrook in any day. Manu and Him deserve 75 greatest player over other chokers.
San Antonio Spurs has nothing to do getting gains at the expense of Boston. In 1997, 2-3 lottery balls belonged to the Celtics and higher chance (67%?) getting Tim Duncan as the top pick. One lottery ball is enough for the Spurs. Upon review, turned out Boston had three (3) 1st round picks (10th, 11th, 21st). Joe Johnson (10th) had a great career, Kedrick Brown (11th) only played four (4) seasons then went overseas. The 21st is meant for Tony Parker. At the last minute it's been said Celtics patriarch Red Auerbach told whoever handles the draft to select Joseph Forte instead. Forte had that shades of scoring prowess back in UNC, and inevitable to be compared to fellow Tar Heel Michael Jordan. Forte only played two (2) seasons with same number of teams. Indiana chose Jamaal Tinsley, one spot ahead of Parker. Unfortunately, as years went on, the Spurs has become other team's barometer in choosing late 1st round picks and it seemed these teams hired "insiders". Come 2008, the Spurs (26th) are set to get Nicolas Batum. Portland somehow got the information so they asked Houston (25th) to get Batum in a condition he'll be traded eventually.

Fun fact: Tony Parker has the most playoff points as a Point guard in NBA History...and yet somehow didn't make the top 75 all time🤔
Indeed. That’s a disgrace. They had cp3 and Westbrook but wouldn’t have a finals mvp. SMH.
@@dizza213 they lilliard in also...what's he done?
@@oeao2841 him as well 🤷♂️
NBA only cares about superstar players!
NBA will never give the spurs any credit, they are happy that the spurs are now just an average team!
Tony P was that guy. Kobe said Tony was a difficult defensive assignment.
Boston gotta be in shambles, missed Duncan and passed on Parker 😂
Right lol
Red Auerbach made em change! They were gonna take him! Auerbach for some reason s had huge sway, and he didn’t want a euro pg.
I mean, I’m not a Celtics fan, but I don’t think they’re feeling in shambles today.
Ever since the retirement of Avery Johnson the spurs were lacking in the pg position. TP was the point guard we needed. He fit perfectly.
TP9 was so cold and underrated

Thanks Boston
RIP Lance Blanks 1:55 Gone but not forgotten.
Once again, the Celtics' mistake is the Spurs' fortune.
Gotta love TP man, GSG 🖤🤍🖤🤍
Tony Parker aka French Bread. The man is underrated one of the best pg to ever do it.
Forgot how close Boston was to getting TP. Holy smokes haha
