Manu is the reason I am a Spurs fan. Growing up in the 90s in Europe I was a Jordan hater, so I was rooting for every team that had some chance against the fucking bulls. Once I saw Manu I knew that's my guy forever based on love not hate.
Once Pop retires, I would love Manu to take the reigns. He's savvy with Spurs basketball and has that engine in him that ignites the entire team. A total embodiment of the Spurs way.
No shit! I became a fan of Manu when I saw him on the front page of a newspaper when they won the championship in 2005. He is my ultimate favorite basketball player ever.
I remember watching that, too. My girlfriend and I had stopped at her parents' house for what was supposed to be a quick stop, and her step-dad had the game on, it was like halfway through the first quarter. Ended up staying for the whole game.
The inbound back to Horry And the flip back to Duncan for 3 in Shaqs face. His Game against USA was unbelievable... He had a Jordan series game winner in the first round!
When Manu said he and his family were Texans that made my heart swell. That man has deep love for his country and he's proven that his heart is big enough for Argentina and the Spurs with how much he laid it out on the court each game. As a native San Antonian, I'm genuinely happy my favorite NBA player found a second home he loves.
My favorite player of all time (as if my username didn't give it away). Absolutely fearless competitor that fought like hell on both ends every single play. If you take his overall accomplishments into consideration, he's one of the most winningest players of all time.
Manu was the epitome of an x-factor: you didn't know what you were going to get because he could be having a bad shooting night and still make the right pass or defensive play to win the game, or all of a sudden score in ways you didn't know were possible. And that was the thing with him as well: he was never flashy or attempting to be flashy for the sake of the cameras or a sport's show replay for the next day or so. Even in his wildest, craziest attempts at a pass or shot, regardless of whether he accomplish them or not, you could see there was an actual thought process behind it. It wasn't a random intention but a calculated attempt to disrupt the opposition and/or win the game.
I started watching Spurs game in 2002. Manu was a bench player. Almost instantly, I noticed his existence. His play is so different. He is so creative.
They left out the craziest part of the ruptured testicle story. The game that he came back after something like 28 days out, he immediately stepped in front of Kevin Love and took a charge. Unbelievable.
Everyone remembers the Finals in 2014, right? Manu changed the game in the Spurs' favor so many times. In game 5 especially the Spurs were struggling until he game in and changed things. If you can, go look at the replay. In one series he took a charge, hit a 3 ball, had THE DUNK (I think it was part of that series) - he completely changed the game. Miami was up, and then came Manu. That wasn't the only game he did that series either. I know Kawhi had a great series, but I really thought there should have been co-MVPs of Manu and Boris. I loved the way Manu played all out. He always always always gave 110 percent. I wanted to go to one of the games his last year, but cancer got in the way. At least I have saved some of the games from that year and others so I can still watch. He was still more than good enough to play when he retired. If I was choosing an NBA team from anyone of the former players, Manu would be on the team. He was an all-time team player.
As a Denver fan I hated this dude for so long. But grew to appreciate his will to win, effort,& just how damn good he was-but also how much he cared,& what a winner he was. We all know that should be common in pro sports-but isnt always. His last few yrs,I actually came full circle,& kinda pulled for the Spurs-since my Nugs never really had a legit shot back then, except 2009. But I was upset for the Spurs when they flat blew that Finals vs Miami. But thrilled when they made it right the next yr. That was 1 of the most underrated Championship teams Ive seen,& actually kinda had a lot in common with the Nuggets 1st title team-just a few weeks ago. If we can have even a fraction of the success of the Spurs-thatd be amazing. Though Im certainly not predicting 5 rings,6 Finals,& 9 WCF-pretty damn amazing run for a "small market."
the best manu play of all time is the last point against Serbia at the 2004 olympics. Absolutely incredible. Definitely a chosen one. One of the sportsmen that makes me proud being argenitnian. Gracias Manu!!!
Manu was a fearless player. He will rush to the basket and scores while 4 or even 5 players in front of him and he scores by zigzaging among them using his left or right hand and makes the shot.
Manu was such an inspiration for me growing up, I copied everything he did, his aggressive 'reckless' playstyle (in any sport or game), grew out crazy long hair and Eurostepped all the way to the basket because that's literally all I knew.
Great episode! My second favorite player (behind Timmy)! So many great plays, but that dunk against Bosh in the 2014 Finals will always be etched into my memory! ⚪️⚫️🏀
💯💯💯💯 quality. Really great job Spurs. One of a kind. The right person, right time, right place. True genuine person. I can't explain, but his celebration whenever he scored is just focused on himself and giving a spark to other teammates, waaaay different from nowadays celebration. Today's celebration is just taunting your rival. 😂😂😂 And most importantly, a winner mentality, with more than 0.7 winning % for a player with more than 1000 games.
I just happened to move to San Antonio in 2003 and lived a mile from the SBC Center. Had no idea they were that close and games were that cheap. My area in Florida had no pro teams and I quickly fell in love with the Spurs and especially Manu. Got to go to lots of playoff games and the finals. Amazing experience I still treasure to this day

If Manu is still in the NBA now, even by this age, there will be tons of playoff teams lining for signing him. He can literally single-handed turn a good team into a serious title contender.
This should be on netflix or something for every argentinian to watch with subtiles the love you give to Manu. I remember watching the 4-3 Pistons finale from Argentina, pretty late due to time difference I was 17yo. I fell in love with Spurs bc of him and fell in love with the heavenly Trio he made with Duncan and Parker. Could watch him playing with our National Jersey in oyr city 🤯🤯🤯 Also met Oberto, I have a picture with him he's extremely tall 😂
Most players are trying to win the game. Manu was trying to win each possession. A killer.
My favorite Spur of all time. Def had a killer mentality
Not just my favorite spur but my favorite player ever. Manu is the player that made me fall in love with the game
Gino ain't done.
I'm surprised they got Chris Bosh to talk about that play. Pretty cool from him to do that for the Spurs.
Bosh is simply a very cool guy.
I was at his retirement ceremony, and to see the number of fans from Argentina that travelled to San Antonio to be there was amazing.
That dunk on the last living dinosaur, Chris Bosh, was legendary
😂😂
more like the first act of basketball violence on an extraterrestrial species, i.e. a Na'vi
Lmao
The best sixth man of all time!!! Love you Manu!! ❤ 💯
And could have started on any team in the NBA 💯
Manu is the reason I am a Spurs fan. Growing up in the 90s in Europe I was a Jordan hater, so I was rooting for every team that had some chance against the fucking bulls. Once I saw Manu I knew that's my guy forever based on love not hate.
Once Pop retires, I would love Manu to take the reigns. He's savvy with Spurs basketball and has that engine in him that ignites the entire team. A total embodiment of the Spurs way.
I remember seeing a poster around the 2005 finals of Manu roaring, wearing a jedi robe with a lighrsaber titled "Obi-Wan Ginobli" fricken awesome.
No shit! I became a fan of Manu when I saw him on the front page of a newspaper when they won the championship in 2005. He is my ultimate favorite basketball player ever.
almost cried like 3 times lmao i miss watching manu play basketball it was like art. what an inspiration and role model.
I cried
Me too. I cried like an asshole.
Will never forget watching his career high 48-point game vs PHX capped by the two-hand dunk in OT. Unreal performance.
I remember watching that, too. My girlfriend and I had stopped at her parents' house for what was supposed to be a quick stop, and her step-dad had the game on, it was like halfway through the first quarter. Ended up staying for the whole game.
This video alone is doing 5x the views the rest of this series is getting. Manu is the man
Pop: “He was somebody that I needed to back off of, just let him play. He had to be… Manu”
That’s our Manu!
Best Episode so far. Manu brought another dimension to the Spurs game. I feel he should have been Finals mvp in 2005
100% deserved to be mvp that finals. he closed pit the series too!
Best play ever was the block on Harden to win the game and the the dunk on Ray Allen in the finals 🎯
The inbound back to Horry
And the flip back to Duncan for 3 in Shaqs face. His Game against USA was unbelievable... He had a Jordan series game winner in the first round!
💯
Manu not being in the top 75 Greatest of All Time is CRIMINAL!!! He should be there before Lilard, AD, Melo!!
Agreed
Manu is a top 50
hes the reason I became a Spurs fan! Love you Manu!
Mano Was a F****** warrior
Couldn't get enough of watching him play

Still underrated, he was a-ma-zing in his prime. Winning everything on everywhere he played, and on top of that a great person. A complete package
Manu Forever

A free spirit on the court, pure joy to watch.

Loved that clip with manu and oberto together they won both a gold medal and nba finals together that's quite an accomplishment

the best manu play of all time is the last point against Serbia at the 2004 olympics. Absolutely incredible. Definitely a chosen one. One of the sportsmen that makes me proud being argenitnian.

Manu was a fearless player.
He will rush to the basket and scores while 4 or even 5 players in front of him and he scores by zigzaging among them using his left or right hand and makes the shot.
Duncan gave Manu a bald spot 😂😂😂
He was The Heart ♥️
That three players stay their whole career in this team in NBA. That is some level of contribution.

I shed a tear for this 🥲 we love you Manu ❤️
Very gracious of CB4 to be in the episode - 10:47
This was amazing! Manu gave everything on the court. Maybe should be considered as Pop’s replacement.❤20
Manu was such an inspiration for me growing up, I copied everything he did, his aggressive 'reckless' playstyle (in any sport or game), grew out crazy long hair and Eurostepped all the way to the basket because that's literally all I knew.
Manu is the player that made me fall in love with the sport. Growing up going to the AT&T center watching him play, it was magical man. GO SPURS GO!
One of the best to ever put on a spurs jersey
If Tony was the engine, and Tim the spirit of those teams, Manu was definitely the heart.
Washington Redskin running back Larry Brown, tennis great Roger Federer, and Manu: my personal top 3 most valued sports heroes.
My all time fave player.....manu20
No words. Just love
Great episode! My second favorite player (behind Timmy)! So many great plays, but that dunk against Bosh in the 2014 Finals will always be etched into my memory! ⚪️⚫️🏀

Amazing experience I still treasure to this day
Manu, class act.

te amo manu❤🇦🇷
the example of team basketball. argentinian pride
If Manu is still in the NBA now, even by this age, there will be tons of playoff teams lining for signing him. He can literally single-handed turn a good team into a serious title contender.
He never did though. Spurs were already champions before he got there and ginobili's first ring was his rookie season where he averaged 7 ppg.
This should be on netflix or something for every argentinian to watch with subtiles the love you give to Manu. I remember watching the 4-3 Pistons finale from Argentina, pretty late due to time difference I was 17yo.
