- What you can try to solve problems with your fuel gauge reading incorrect levels. Mine was intermittent, sometimes it worked and sometimes it didnt. About 50% both ways
1 year later and my fuel sensor is still working! Worth the time to take it out and fix it just like the video shows!
Hi, congrats I'm glad that it worked out for you. I have a question. My gas gauge is a little off and I'm getting horrible mpg! I'm norm at half a tank around 100 miles. I'm thinking it could possibly be the fuel float as well. When I was on 3/4 i was at 40 miles. So I went to fill up and it stopped at 2.5 gallons. Do you think if I do this same fix to mine my prob will be resolved? Btw I have a digital gas gauge and I drive an 07 Nissan Sentra 2.0. TIA 🙏🏾
Thanks Jared this fix will save me a trip to salvage yard and some good$$
Thanks! A very useful video, but I think you should not clean the contacts with sandpaper, since most likely they contain a special coating that you have cleaned off.. It is enough to wipe them with alcohol..From Russia with love! I have such a car, I think I have to repeat your work.. 🤔👍Андрей.
Very Good video.
Thank you very much!

LB7 finally started having fuel gauge issues
Hi Jared....can you please elaborate on the indications that got you to diagnose? I recently had the gauge stay on full after at least 15 gals had been used....then all of a sudden went to E with low fuel light on. When I recycled ignition an hour later...back to full with no low fuel light.
Please let me know if these are similar to what you had? Seems tough to diagnose from all I have been reading between sending units, stepper motors, and clusters.
Thank you...
Sounds like the same problem. Mine would typically read full when I filled it up, then it would co to use to read full for days of daily driving. Then out of the blue it would read 1/4, or empty with the light on. Sometimes I would fill it up and it would still read empty with the light on. Typically, whatever it read, it would be stuck in the same position for several days and then it would jump. Occasionally it would read correctly for a week or so at a time before going back to reading incorrectly
I just posted a vid of how to check the operation of the sender with a multimeter. It shows examples of problems that develop and the failure of one.
thank you sir.. i will try.. i can t see level of fuel on my ford and i don t want to buy the entire fuel pump that still work... and i can t find only the fuel sensor -_- sad
Try dropping the tank and look until you find it in the tank... it’s in there somewhere!
Same issue. 124,000 miles
Hope it helps!
Sir is it the main cause of flickering instrument cluster fuel gauge the, broken fuel sensor?
Sounds like electrical
I wouldn' rule it out completely but I would say this is NOT likely the issue. This has a bit of a delayed reaction to the instrument cluster, thus flickering would not be likely.
Would this be the same on a lb7
Should be similar
Did it ever work
Is this why my truck won't start still? Just cranks and no starts?
No, this will not cause fuel delivery issues.
poor design , I have this problem currently less than 100k on truck .
Ya, not the greatest design Chevy has come up with...
Literally almost all fuel gage sensors are this design..It's not unique to GM.
Nah bro not just gm got Hyundai with 65k miles having this issue smh
So wouldn't it be easier or better to replace with new and if so do you just replace level sensor or whole sending unit and / or both? If you have it apart and you think you fixed it but it doesn't work after you put it back together.... My guage works but periodically drops to empty. A few times it came back up to full and other times afrer I shut the truck off and restarted it, it popped up to full. I have no low fuel lights, no codes. Truck is 2008 LMM duramax 1 ton dually. I don't know if it is 1st design, 2nd design. I have a 42 gallon auxiliary diesel fuel tank in the bed as the stock tank in the truck is like 24 or 26 gallons.
