Honestly… this anime is very grey in terms of morals. Which is how the real world actually is. There was never right or wrong in the world of Eldians vs Marleyans. It was either us or them. If Eren hadn’t done anything then Zeke, his half brother, would’ve caused Eldians, Eren’s people, to go extinct. If Eren hadn’t done anything then the Eldians would’ve continued to be turned into monsters, used as war machines, for literally no fucking reason. Until they all died out after Zeke put his euthanasia plan to work.
It makes so much sense that finally, after years of this bullshit, someone would finally be fed up enough to put an end to all of it. I don’t think Eren is evil. He isn’t good, either. I think he’s just tired.
I’m honestly so sick of people comparing him to Hitler though. His reason for genocide isn’t even remotely in the same comparison category. Not saying it’s right, Eren committing mass genocide… but it isn’t necessarily wrong either. It’s a grey area. Us or them. You or me. My people or your people. That’s how the world is. Isayama captured it perfectly.
ladies and gentlemen, i present to you, this comment 💯
Finally someone said it I'm really tired of hearing everyone demonize him so damn much
@@Yo-dz2ss people talk big about things they have no real knowledge about. In the terms of it being fictional, they can sit there and whine about how evil they think Eren is. But for the very few who actually watch the story unfold after having experience from the real world (trauma, loss, heartbreak, learning how the world ACTUALLY is) then they wouldn’t be singing the same tune. Most people are followers. They’ll chirp and repeat whatever the current status quo is. It’s just sad that they’ve missed the true meaning of this story and Eren’s character. I truly believe if this story was actually real and we lived in that same shitty world, any of us would do the exact same thing Eren did if we had the power and ability to.
@@imnoweren lol thank you 😊 like I said in my response to someone else in this thread… it seems like most fans/viewers of AOT just aren’t paying attention to the actual story and just want to compare it to the worst event in history that they possibly can. I feel like the opening to season 4, with the scene of the soldiers marching, is what caused everyone to go on their big Hitler rant. It’s gross.

Yessir, that's a solid VA right there
CHAD Grisha
One of the best performance in all of anime
Grisha is the most tragic character in aot. He got his sister killed, his dad did nothing about it, Zeke betrayed him, lost his wife and comrades, got a second chance, had to kill children, and died in mental anguish due to what he’d done and learning of Carla’s death.
Yes after ymir Grisha is the most tragic. Ymir is more tragic since all her life was equally bad compared to Grisha but then when she died, she built titans in the paths. She didn't stay in paths for just 2000 years(that was only the real world time), for her it must have felt like a million years since time is so weird in paths
They killed his sister for no reason
@@xcept7355 that started turning the cogs

I don't think the concept of freedom exists. Because we are bound to the dominion of the universe or the world. We have no choice but to face the consequences of our condition and actions as reality. So, if there is such a thing as freedom, we have always been and always will be free.

Well written
I'll never get tired praising the voice actors who gave life to these characters
Once he saw the truth, there was no going back. Even if he didn't attack Marley, they would still attack Paradis. Eren was between a rock and a hard place.
We are all villian in someone else's story..
Sometimes we are forced to do things that strip away our humanity for the ones we love without having a choice in it. Such fate.. is life.

Grisha died like this. Grisha died knowing his whole life was one mistake after the other, that he never made up for them, that his oldest son was at the mercy of his youngest son, who was going to succeed on his hate-filled crusade to destroy the world, all because of the cycle that he started. He fought because his sister was torn up by rabid dogs, and it ended in the world being torn up by the rabid dog that is his son.
over-simplification. There are consequences for attempted extermination of Eren's people. Marley lost and took the world with them.
Eren became a rabid dog because the world kept beating him with a stick. He knew that they were eventually going to kill all of them. So he killed them first.
Grisha sister didn't die in the hands of crazy dogs, she was kill for being different
@@Randomguy-nr6qr the cruelty of one country doesn't excuse the extermination of the entire world. That's like saying the whole world should be destroyed for the acts of horror that the Germans committed during WW2. Eren is rabid not because he's lost his mind, but because he has no control over his fate. The future that was set out for him was beyond his control. Saying that the rumbling was just a simple act of revenge is missing some major plot points.
@@SoupEmperor The problem is that its not one country. Its stated that the other countries hate them even more than marley. And when tyber made his speech the worlds diplomats agreed and cheered. Thats why eren waited till they cheered to attack. Also eren asked hange and begged for another solution for years and she didn’t do shit. None of them did.
For a moment Grisha forgot what he had just done to the Reiss family and said everything he never got to say to Zeke when he was a child, as if he'd wanted to do it for a long time. Zeke was incredulous at his father's love despite denouncing him. One of the best scenes of the whole series.❤
Marley fucked around and found out.
AHAHAH facts
Imagine being so evil that your father literally regrets your existence.💀
LMAOOO factss
you don't have to be evil, just be a disappointment or be asian
Some fathers do regardless of the choices you make
Who said Grisha is disappointed in Eren? He's not. He is just regretful of his actions because if he was so disappointed on Eren, then he wouldn't have passed the power of Founder and Attack Titan. It was after hearing about Carla's death (which ironically was orchestrated by Eren to ensure that the kid Eren is determined) that he thinks, everything be damned and passes on his powers. Now, it's clear Eren ensured Carla's death to ensure that Grisha does pass the powers to him at any cost.
@@subhankarbaral9236 he said Eren was going to do something terrible and he must stop him
People like to say that Grisha was controlled by Eren…that Eren spoke to him retrospectively to convince him to do what he did…but I feel like the truth is, Grisha did what he was meant to do, because he was always doing this for his family.
Would you call that being controlled? Maybe. But at the end of the day, doing it for the sake of his loved ones gave it so much more meaning to his life than if he did it for himself.
true true, forever a jaegerist
well, right after he took the founder and spoke to zeke, he was indeed trying to stop eren, but then im guessing he found out Carla was eaten, which brought him back to do what was meant to happen
I don’t think Eren could really control the past it was more like he could only speak to his past selves. I’m all the scenes we see if Future Eren and Past Grisha it is Eren reminding him what he has to do
Eren gaslighted him relentlesly, what are you talking about 😂
@@lidcall0909 Eren didn't speak to his past self. He says when he kissed Historia's hand he saw his own memories of the future in his dad's memories of the Reiss assassination. So season 4 Eren, once he unlocked the Founding Titan via Zeke, was sending his memories of the future back in time to Grisha, and season 3 Eren upon kissing Historia's hand was receiving Grisha's memories from the past (the normal Titan shifter way) which included the memories season 4 Eren was giving him, thus giving season 3 Eren the future memories to pass on to Grisha in season 4. It's a bootstrap paradox. A causal loop.
If you really analyze the scene, it seems like Eren is communicating with Grisha by basically giving Grisha a "stream" of his current live memories, which allows for two-way communication because Eren can see Grisha's responses via the Founding Titan's access to memory. If you notice, every time Grisha sees Zeke, Eren is behind Grisha looking at Zeke. So if this "stream" of memories includes Eren's vision, Grisha may be effectively seeing what Eren sees.
AOT is the perfect definition of "Don't make someone so sad that they destroy everything"
The song is so matching......it makes AOT more emotional than ever😢

This scene of Grisha got me almost into tears, because it's heartbreaking.
All Grisha wanted was peace and to live a normal life. He basically did it twice, but both times he gave up what he had and fought for his loved ones.
In the end he was pushed far beyond even his own limits, all for Eren, so that Eren, too, could escape the walls and try to live a normal life. We all kind of feel bad for how much pain was given to Grisha, since pain is essentially the only motivator in this show, but he was actually really strong, just not insane like Eren. He could not handle mentally snapping

No anime will ever fill the void that Aot will leave in my heart after it finishes...
They had it coming. That WAS FREEDOM!!
What this story does so well to tell us is that the world has never been good or cruel. It has never been anything other than this empty desert, this immense sea, this dark forest, devoid of meaning and of all reason. What this story teaches us is to make this empty world the terrain of our pleasures and our actions, our emotions and our convictions.
In the end, why did all this happen? Is it the fault of the world? Is it the world that is cruel, lawless? No, it's not the world. It is humanity. This evolved animal species that has this terrible curse of being beyond even conscious, it is aware of its own consciousness. Such a stage of cerebral evolution that leads him to ask existential questions about insignificant things, yet so important, since they build all the reality we know. Humans fight, humans hate each other, humans love each other. We are very different from the rest of the animal kingdom because unlike other animals, we ask ourselves questions. Above all.
Human beings are different from Animals because they don't just live in their world, they transform it, they shape it in their own way to give them a reason to exist. That's what we're told in Attack on Titan. To fight, because humans are cruel to themselves. Forgive, because the human is good with himself. If the Titans are only humans transformed by other humans, it is because the author is aware that Man is solely responsible for his own peril and his own problems. Never has the world been cruel, good or compassionate, because life has no time. It is Man who kills, it is Man who builds and it is Man who discovers. We are what the world will be, because we are the only ones with the gift and the curse of making the world what we want. And that's the beauty of SNK.

I think you have a real shot in winning and this bumps your views of the amv and I think there is a prize too. Please consider if any of that interests you. You're so very welcome! Yeah there's a ton annually. Anime Boston in Boston MA, Connecticon in Connecticut, MA ( there's so many and they're not just in the US I think) and yes they ask for creators to submit their amvs for their contests and if chosen you become a nominee and they premiere the AMV at the convention during the contest under its genre and it really gives exposure to the creator! It's one of my favorite parts of going to anime conventions!
Now that the AoT series is over, I am 100% certain you have a huge change of winning if you submit this AMC. It's genuinely so heartbreaking and beautiful. What a incredible voice acting ❤
This actually got me teary eyed.
So much suffering was caused just to achieve Eren's idealized image of 'freedom' which never lasts. At the end of the day power a game of tug-of-war, it will eventually be taken back by those wanting to oppress and conquer until the next Eren has had enough, that's just the way of the world. It makes you wonder if the freedom Eren fought for was really worth it since the freedom he fought for was taken from others who may not have hated Eldians.
For Grisha, the price was far too great, being free at the cost of massacring families is too far. But he realized after he already gave away his soul and empowered the man to cause global genocide in the future. He himself didn't know if he believed in it the cause anymore; questioning _EREN_ (not himself) if killing the Reiss family was even necessary, if that was what he really wanted, if it will actually lead to Eldia being liberated.
