- Abdullah Kabani is the owner of Telè, a phone-repair company in Oklahoma. He demonstrates how he restores an iPad that was thrown against a wall. This includes removing the cracked screen, removing all of the components inside the iPad, replacing the old battery, reassembling the inner components into a new frame, and gluing a new screen on.

How An iPad Is Professionally Restored | Refurbished - Наука та технологія
Apple stores here won't even look at damaged iPad. they would just ask you to buy a new one. Independent phone repair shops like this are godsend.
If you have Apple Care. They'll give you a brand new one. Up to three times. I've already taken advantage of this twice.
@@PhyuckYew still not good in terms of e waste
Once Apple hands me a spanking brand new iPad Pro. My old damage iPad Pro is their problem now.
@@PhyuckYew the exact point... 🤦♂️
@@PhyuckYew did they let you keep the damaged one still?
Seems like he can refurbish my life as well.
😂😂
He’s gonna need a lot of glue

@@jasonb9562 What about Flex Tape?
In addition to spending the money on this repair, the customer should invest in anger management therapy.
agree or he needs to get a punching bag instead and take anger out on that.
So you've never been angry before?
Just because the customer got in a fit of rage, doesn't necessarily mean that they're angry all the time. I've gotten so frustrated with these devices that I've wanted to smash them against a wall. Especially considering how garbage these devices are nowadays, and they make them worse and worse with each new generation. But that doesn't mean that I have anger issues, or need anger management. It's the tech companies doing this on purpose.
@@I_WANT_MY_SLAW Did I say that I've never been angry? Of course I've been angry before. But you know what? I've never chucked my iPad or iPhone or laptop or XBox controller across the room. Because I'm not a child, and I'm capable of managing the anger.
@@joeybaseball7352 I never said the customer was "...angry all the time". But, since the customer DID admit to destroying this iPad in a fit of anger, my suggestion is that maybe they seek help to manage that anger. That's all.
Wow! That IPad as was clinically dead in my mind !
I can't believe this is actually cheaper than buying a new one
It's not
@@kenmastersmaster wdym
I guess the repair was a challenge for you? How much would it cost for the customer to repair vs cost of buying a new one?
I WANNA KNOW THIS TOO🤔
Probably less. Here he's paying for parts and labor, but with Apple you're paying for parts, labor, and brand markup. Plus, this is an older ipad so parts are probably pretty cheap now.
@@Soup69God or if the parts are old, maybe they dont make it, so its more expansive. If i wanted to repleace my broken screen, and my battery on my phone, it cost 80% of a brand new bit newer gen phone.
@@henrik9030 what country are you in? Even the 13 pro max the screen is $350. And the battery is $79.00 so your only around 40% of a new iPhone on the newest models.
It’s cheaper if you buy secondhand OEM parts off eBay. I’ve been repairing iphones and ipads for years this way. Never had any complaints, so I’d say it’s a win.
Great to see some coverage for repairs it’s great for the environment and is a great way to keep devices in use. Just a quick note though, you should NEVER use super glue to hold down a display, ESPECIALLY not super glue. It is more likely to damage the display during use as it has no give to absorb pressure and it will make future repairs more challenging as it can’t be softened with heat. You should only use pre cut adhesive strips specific to the iPad model or cut adhesive to the right length if you can’t order the strips.
unless its the exact same one that apple uses, which could then be lasered off again
Those drops of super glue will be a really nasty surprise for the next technician who tries to open it. Never ever use super glue.
What would you use? The same procedure but without?
@@TomRaine Use B7000 or some other glue like it that can be removed later. Super glue is permanent, once it's set you can't remove the screen later without braking it.
the background music sounds like something out of a movie.. a particularly sad and uplifting scene
Thank you for featuring us in this episode. To address the questions, yes- it's often more affordable to repair at most 3rd party repair shops than with manufacturers.
I'm ABSOLUTELY SPEECHLESS.
agree. The guy that threw the ipad at wall because he was mad needs to get a punching bag instead and take anger out on that.
@@boohere2 He should invest in anger management therapies
Lol, I’m watching an iPad refurbishment on my iPad
Watching this on the same device he’s fixing. Battery life on the 5th gen iPad is superb. iPad will be 4yrs with me this March 2022 and I don’t see any problem with mine at all. ✨💖
I agree. If you want longevity, ipads are a great investment. I still have my ipad mini 1 though it has slowed down, the battery is still good.
It'd be a huge cheap upgrade if you wanna get less bezels, and I'm talking about the 2018 iPad, it's still so good.
@@loop5720 gonna wait for the redesign of the new “classic” line up if the iPad’s

I don't know philosophically, but I do know what would, a new SoC and better screen.
That's why we need the right-to-repair. If it's technical repairable, then it should be repairable.
All this repairing process sounds more expensive than buying a new iPad
But not as envorimentally sustainable
@@kuber5987 also samsung: *follows every single thing Apple did*

That was an expensive temper tantrum.
They should have at least revealed how much it cost to repair vs iPads currently on sale in the market.
Otherwise, super impressive!
Texas Instruments capacitors? What, they don’t make passives. You mean TI battery charger with integrated SMPS.
Wow! If only it was that easy with humans too... :'(
Wow that iPad jacked. Idk why you wouldn’t get a new one at this point. I didn’t think that was even capable of being repairable
Hi, is the ipad Mini 1 screens the same as the mini 2 to swap over? or is there diff's . Thanks
An iPad with that much damage would probably cost just about the same to fix as buying a new one.
I have to get this done. Now I understand the quotes I was given. There is a lot of time and knowhow involved.
Sometimes the data is important than the cost of repair
I use my iPad Pro from 2016 on a daily basis. The battery is still quite good.
Why didnt you become a neurosurgeon instead of iPad repairer. You have steady hands
…………….
How did you straighten the frame?
impressive work
People like you reduce ewaste. Hats off to you sir!
This guy could moonlight as a surgeon on the weekends.
Hi, i want to try and contact u through ur videos and hope u notice me and i would like ask something because my ipad like it's usable but the entire black part where the camera is mounted almost came apart and the screen is crack and above all the damage it still works like it's nothing but still i want to know if it has a chance to be fixed. Thank you
Take a shot every time he says “adhesive” and “careful”
Once that frame is bent like that, it's best to just replace the device. Depending on the bend, there could be micro fractures on the board. Might work for a day after or 2yrs later then start having issues. Ipad screen repairs are the WORST. This guy has some serious patience!
I had my phone (Samsung galaxy S10) break fairly recently, so it is nice to see how that one will be refurbished, since My new phone is a refurbished S10
The owner of that iPad must have had major sentimental attachment to it (despite smashing it in a moment of anger) if he wanted it restored instead of simply getting a new one.
If you have anger issues you better get Apple Care+
IPad Pro 11. My screen cracked on the first day after the warranty ended. I dropped a pair of tweezers and got some good spiderwebbing. Totally cosmetic, but they wanted $600 to fix it.
Good thing Apple makes it impossible for third parties to repair anything, or you might have been able to get that fixed for a fraction of the price.
ANOTHER WIN FOR THE FREE MARKET
@@FNLNFNLN I didn’t even bother. I bought a new one.
@@georgehenry76 congratulations, you just committed to the pollution of the planet ._.

@@ArthurD please go spend your free time yelling at cars driving by on the road for "polluting the planet".. pick your battles rofl
That is amazing work. But this is also the reason why I don't buy refurbished items... I'd rather buy new 😂 lol
This is just a showcase of how you would restore, in reality you wouldn't. The cost is probably not far from a brand new ipad!
It costs MORE than a brand new iPad sometimes. With Apple, it is a perfectly sane alternative to buy an entirely new product instead of having it repaired.
Wouldn't it be cheaper to get a new one?
Not as environmentally friendly
Great work
Apple: *Watches video* “And I took that personally…”
Bro got angry and threw it HARD
This process is fascinating.
Time to just buy a new one at that point lmao
Let me guess. All data is wiped and it costs more than buying a new one?
Video idea:How zombies for movies are made
Call me old fashioned or whatever, but it says a lot about the owner as a person, if he can just casually throw his (expensive) iPad at the wall when he gets angry If you can do that to something as expensive as that, you really need to learn the value of such things
How much does a repair like that go for??
I guess the big headline here should be 'unofficial' because no doubt the OEM wouldn't touch this and would just crush it and claim it was 'recycled' whereas this process actually repairs and revives something that on the surface looks like a gonner - well done!
They do recycle it
@@two-face1041 Yes I’m sure they disassemble logic boards to component level, separate and then re-use and recycle every part like they want you to believe 🙄
@@Umski I mean my dad works for Apple and that’s what he’s told me they do
@@two-face1041 it's a big company so unless he works specifically in the recycling channel it's largely corporate greenwash - to be fair Apple rate higher than other OEMs, but unless they've figured out a way to 'unbake a cake' then "recycling" a complex device like a iPad will most likely involve crushing the internals only really to extract a tiny proportion of precious metals using lots more energy and chemicals to do so...so re-using and repairing is far better in this instance
a very relaxing atmosphere in this video. I like it.
Is getting a new iPad much more expensive than restoring like this? It seems to be a lot of work and a new housing case (original) also costs a lot?
Weird question, whats the name of the background music ?
Apple: this is illegal
Salute to this man!
Watching this on my iPad 5th gen!
The costumers answer is so funny
I wonder if it would be cheaper to just buy a new iPad?
Beautiful 👌
I don't know whether this music suits the video
Why would he want it to be repaired though? Isn't it cheaper to get a new one at this point?
That's what I was thinking. Surely there's no advantage to a repair at that point.
@@CourtneyCoulson Not always, it might be labor intensive (along with the parts cost) but Apple technically charges you the same for the parts but at a bigger markup because it belongs to the brand
Less trash in the world?
“That’ll be $700”
After performing that miracle, I wouldn’t be surprised if this restorer Abdullah Kabani could bring the dead back to life.😲
Daym! I'm watching this with the same iPad model. What a coincidence! 😅
I’ve paid 140 euros just to replace the front glass. I don’t know how sense it makes to repair this iPad
that's so comfortable
Maybe the owner needs to do something with his anger management than repairing his ipad.
It looks like a person just stepped on it instead of throwing it on the garage wall
I wanna know the total cost to fix that , is it even worth it, just buy a new one .
Watching this on my iPad 6th generation
Why wouldn't you just buy a new one??
Not as environmentally friendly
How much does this cost tho
This guy is my podiatrist. Lmaooo
This video is similar to Jerry Rig Everything, but without the burn test or scratch test
you should have just put toothpaste on the screen man. removes all them scratches like a miracle. shoutout to 5 minute crafts!
🤣🤣🤣
NEVER USE SUPER GLUE! Now whenever they need that device worked on again it will shatter the glass digitizer!
How much does it cost to repair it.?
You already know that every other phone company is gonna do this as well. Whatever apple does, everyone else copies.
The cost of repairs will be more expensive than buying a new ones. This is the reason of all environmental problems
but not for Apple products
New one's tend to be more expensive
