The absolute worst is when you’re in a crawl space and they send that flush right on down to you 🤣 I turned the water off and told the customer I’d let them know as soon as I was done but they didn’t care to wait another 5 minutes.. After that it turned into an additional charge for “unusual conditions” for me to finish the job.
I always have the new section pre-built, with taped off openings. As soon as the old section is cut, slap that new one in right away. Haven't had brown rain on my head yet, but have been within seconds of it.

There are these baloons made with thick rubber. You stuck it in the pipe and blow with pump that comes with it. It stops water in case someone flushes and then when you are ready to put last piece you put a bin under it and release air with a small valve. You avoid test for reflex.

Learned that from experience: cut the water, tell the old lady not to use the bathroom, cut the stack, then get a gallon of piss water on my head. Old lady had forgot I was even there. I tape all fixtures off now when I cut a stack.
