I couldn't have come up with a better idea for a youtube channel. This is quite literally the exact content I want. Your dedication to research really comes through; I like having medieval history videos/podcasts in the background as I do things but it's rare for a channel to actually know what they are talking about and for them to have actually done the research. Your hard work is seen and appreciated.
I do the same thing!!! I make my hubby play rain storms on his phone and I listen to this kind of stuff in one air pod lol glad to know I’m not alone!!
This is amazing! Just a little suggestion; maybe you can upload a rain sound included version as well? Personally that’d make your videos 10/10 for me!
Thanks so much! It's great to get comments like these, and I often receive them when I need to bolster my discipline for working. Many more videos to come, thanks again for listening.
fun flex fact: my mom did an ancestry test and she’s fully European atp, MEANING her ancestors did in fact survive the Bubonic Plague for her to be 77% french.
How come that the Black Death originated in Asia, but there wasn't nearly as big of an outbreak in comparison to Europe? It's also frightening how those small animals can just carry something as dangerous as the black death from one end to the other, contaminating pretty much the whole world with it. And did I somehow miss it or how was the Black Death cured in the end? Another great video my friend keep it up 💯. You could maybe also do a video about the plague doctor, just an idea.
I'm not quite done with the topic, theres a video on the list about Boccacio's account, and a few more first hand sources. The black death wasnt really cured, just comes about every now and then. There are still cases of bubonic plague that pop up every now and then.
Other strains of plague causing y pestis had been around for much longer, plague of Justinian etc. it had come and gone in Asia for centuries until the strain associated with the Black Death was bought to Europe by people fleeing caffa. Not unlike how many native Americans were wiped out by diseases Europeans had been dealing with for centuries and had more resilience to. (Forgot to add this does not mean it wasn’t also devastating in Asia lol) Like most other bacteria a sufficient course of appropriate antibiotics is enough to treat the plague if caught early enough, but it still kills people in poorer areas of the world

From my understanding Asia is massive, their population by far overtakes western civilisation. Also, I think the Asian civilisation is one of the oldest civilisations? Someone correct me if I’m wrong.

I pair these narratives with a rain sound and … I’m out like a light.

Someone should have told them that rioting in the streets automatically ends pandemics.

Interesting, if slightly depressing, as it went on and on 👀

Welcome back, good to have you in the comments. Always appreciate it when people take the time to write.
Why do these pandemics seem to always start in Asia?

Ouch what mic you got bro those s and t sounds have a painful pop...love the accent though.
