First thing BEFORE anyone rips the car apart, unhook the battery with the headlights on for 15-30 minutes, then hook it back up to erase any damn codes it may be throwing in error. Hopefully then you can get the trunk open to check the pump on the passenger side rear, inside the trunk, behind the decorative carpet side cover. It may be low on hydro fluid. You also may want to check the cargo top cover switch. The pull back cover locks into place and that little switch button goes bad (Part is no longer available new, only at a junk yard and old age on this part is not a good thing)

I have they same problem done checked the hydraulic fluid done put some on it removed the battery everything still not closing the back
