Hier tritt wohl die deutsche " Seele" i n den Vordergrund. Viel Leid traf die Deutschen über die Jahrhunderte...auch selbstverschuldet. Man hört es in dieser Musik.
I actually like it, it gives the video of the performance a very cinematic feel. Definitely quite unusual though. Reminds me of the audience close-ups Bergman did when shooting the The Magic Flute.
I have never heard such inspired and joyful playing, A real treat for J.S.Bach fans and supporters.
yeah, what a performance!
This ensemble should record and upload more of Bach’s sacred works. Top class!
What I particularly marvel about the Cantatas is the relentless way Bach derives almost all the subsequent material from the opening motives.
Great ensemble, top level like Koopman, Gardiner, Herrewege... Bravi!
I agree, I would love to hear more cantata performances from them!
First rate. Very moving. Hoomeyow!!
ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL MUSIC...!
Brilliant! Beautifully done, bravo.

Applause to the recording engineer, too!

All that brio in the bass aria was about John the Baptist quickening in the womb.
: )
El cello, el órgano y el oboe (medio afónico) no están muy coordinados en el aria de tenor, mmm, bonita iglesia
The rapid succession of extreme closeups is distracting!

The music's great, but the videography is a total joke, not to mention the almost comical gyrations of the conductor. Why?
Scroll up to avoid the conductor. Yeesh!
lol sign of genius :P
Cruel.
Great musician, but yeah. You should see him play harpsichord solos -- sometimes his eyes literally roll back in his head. But he's a great musician.
I find him entertaining to watch
Wonderful vital!
