    Ok I made it. Without the Chinese hot sauce. BUT..it’s the most authentic tasting saliva chicken I’ve ever cooked so far!! I’ve been following another recipe for awhile but this one definitely is a keeper. Thank you so much!

    Really love your videos. Not much south east asians share their recipes on UA-cam and it's really helpful for me as a young adult to collect some recipes and try on my family. It's really okay to have some mistakes on the measurements of the ingredients as long as you clarify it. Your enthusiasm for food is something that it's really interesting to see through yoyr videos. I hope you will have a non spicy version as well for small kids, or maybe i can just exclude the chilli oil and garlic.

      Thank you sooo much, Sharalyn for your kind words. Your family is so lucky to have you! To make this dish suitable for young kids, I think you can just use the sauce we added at the end. Although the name of the sauce is spicy sauce, it’s not really spicy actually. Another way is to use our ginger chicken recipe instead but don’t add old ginger in the ginger mix.     Hey can you do a fish ball noodle soup recipe ? I had it before in Singapore the dry version with the fish ball on the side try to recreate it at home but didn’t turn out well :/ couldn’t find a good recipe online either

    For more aroma, get all the chicken, spice seasonings, condiments, chilli paste, spring onion/coriander leaves ready, then pour the piping hot infused oil over them.

      You mean use fresh chilli to replace dried chilli? Do you stay in the US? If yes, you can get it from amazon too amzn.to/2WnlZDp
      If you really can’t get, red chilli will be fine too but dried chilli is preferred. Hope this helps.

    Is the xiang la chiang same as dou ban jiang?

      Hi Alexandra. We suspect it’s the same so if you can’t get hold of Xiang la Jiang, you can use spicy doubanjiang. Please use the Chinese version. Not the Korean ones. Happy cooking!

      Hi Jenny. Unfortunately you can’t make this from scratch without the spices. How about just getting the chilli paste only. You can look for Chinese spicy sauce or spicy broad bean paste whenever you get a chance to go back China. That’d be good enough to make this dish yummy. Hope this helps.
