Still D.R.E. we were sitting in the studio and Dre programmed this kick and snare and his food arrived right outside the control room was this kitchen area and he was eating a sandwich and i was just noodling on the piano and i started playing bling bling bling and he poked his head in and he was like that's it me and Doc this one of the greatest writers of hiphop we in here writing this song struggling with the beat we can't come up with it's like the 4th day Dr. Dre fly a from new york into LA we all in the studio 30 minutes later that is done he wrote Dre and my and it was flawless and it was Jay-Z and he wrote the whole song

Scott Storch on the keys. Dr. Dre on the beat. Jay Z writing the song. And Snoop and Dre performing it..... No wonder it's one of the best rap songs ever.

Unprecedented comment 🎉
Fr, can’t get any better than that
how come Snoop won't release his verse from, California Love?? 😤
The fact that Snoop's speech sounds like a rap verse is crazzzzyyyyy 😂🔥
Edit: how did I get to 1k? 🤯
Man speaks in lyrics.
frr

First language fire second language English.
One of the biggest west coast banger was written by an east coast rapper… CRAZYYY
Dre never wrote one word of one track on that whole album
Yea and most people forget 2pac was from NYC. That whole beef thing was stupid.
Yeah man Hov is a monster. People don't give him enough credit (for his music at least, I think he's a pretty sh** person tho) for all the classics we have from him. NY state of mind literally takes you to NY and gives you the feeling anything is possible. Not many songs can capture that type of vibe. Just like when I PERSONALLY think of west coast, I think Cube, not Dre. He was about that and wrote his own lyrics (along with half of NWAs). Cube is the real one from the west coast ✌️
@@grajammellor660 and barely made one beat lol most of them were bought from other producers, or (like with this one) orchestrated by guys like Scott. Dre’s role was basically what Storch says here: just saying “that‘s it!”
The thing is that rivalry between West and East was never really. It was all business. Some dudes took it literal though. Many oldschool West Coast rappers openly said when asked, and have never denied, liking East Coast rap.
Snoop Dogg: breathes
Still D.R.E. starts playing
It's pretty much his theme song by now
Snoop Dogg: *takes a sh|t*
Still DRE: starts playing
Snoop doesn't breathe .. he only inhales
It’s still Dre and it’ll always Dre
Fun Fact: The music is not edited in, it just naturally plays in Snoop Doggs presence
So, scott storch's keys, Dre's drums, jay z's lyrics, and Snoop doggs/dr dre's performance made that record iconic.
Damn never knew Jay Z wrote that and despite all that's he's done he still pays homage to both those dudes. Love it!

Damn right ! !! Everything he touched turned to Gold and I bet he’ll be behind some more to come
He does get credit though, he's always highly respected.

Ummmm Scotch Storch is from Jersey ...
@@keishasimmons4756 actually he is from Long Island, New York. I thought he was from Philly because he was a pianist working with the roots
It's a hiphop track, not a west coast track. That whole Parliament influenced G-funk sound was over by this time. If anything, the drums and snares on the album had a New York sound. Mel Man was from Pittsburgh.

I don’t even think it’s Snoop’s place to reveal the writer of the song. Most ghost writers never get recognition. Snoop did it anyway and gave Jay Z props. You Tupac stans always want to find a way to discredit Snoop.

Imagining this in Jay-Z's voice in my head. This was 💯 his flow.
Scott Storch was that guy between 1999-2005. Everything he touched became an instant classic. From Still Dre to X by Xzibit to Baby Boy by Sean Paul to Popping Them Thangs by G-Unit to Lean Back by Fat Joe to Naughty Girl by Beyonce to Candy Shop & A Lil Bit by 50 Cent to Run It by Chris Brown to Lighter’s Up by Lil Kim to Make It Rain by Fat Joe & Lil Wayne.

I honestly can't say I'm impressed with much of his discography, but, he sure has his amazing moments. The way I see it, Jay is a great guy who makes cool music - so, his biggest draw isn't his music so much as who he is as a person.
On the other hand, I feel like Nas is a cool guy who makes great music. That's the way I reconcile the two.

Some how he still underrated tho?
No he’s not underrated, he gets the right credits from people who love and appreciate hip hop.
Jay-z underrated you must be a teenager, you got to be saying that alone you don’t no hip hop for real jay got over 22 Grammies more than any male artist
Nah what i mean is he ain’t main stream like he was and he still under rated around younger people
@@rvrb_ he’s older and he understands rap music is really for the younger generation even tho I’m 50 and better it harder to keep up with the new lingo
I know that he is older and i know that he isn’t really trying to be popular through the main stream. I also know he has *24* Grammies not 22. He’s been popular through the 2000s but all I’m saying is that people my age who are 15 are in love with Tupac, biggie, but not jay z who in my opinion is better than Tupac (idk bout biggie tho 🤣)
Scott deserves more spotlight all around the world..
Insane how these artist easily come up with bars, syllables, lines and rhymes in just few hours(or even a day) into production. Eminem was given a beat and took him a whole afternoon to write everything and then went on to return to the studio to record the full song. Major props to rap artist who knows their shit!
