My story time for saint mocainnes (hard). The dungeon was going well up until the last boss. First attempt, people kept moving the slime to the edge of the arena instead of a safe circle. We survived damage from it, but the healer couldn't deal with healing and mechanics at the same time, which ended in a wipe. I dont blame the healer because it was their first time. Before 2nd attempt, i asked if anyone wanted mechanics and the tank (a mentor) just pulled the boss before anyone could try. Everyone but me were standing on the circles when the aoes went out and i took time to tell them not to do that so we have safe spots. The healer took this information and the other dps tried when they could. When the slime came down, it was already in the corner, so i took time to type again to tell them it needs to be on a safe platform. It wasn't; we wiped. On the way to the 3rd pull, i was typing in detail about what to do with the mechanics and the tank was starting to shift blame to me while saying i was doing the platform part wrong. I dont remember exactly what was said because of the detailed typing and the tank pulling as soon as i dinished typing. 3rd pull, the tank (still a mentor) ignored what i explained with the platforms and the slime. The only reason we completed on the 3rd attempt was because i used ranged dmg reduction, reducing us to around 1k hp. I left shortly after that because i didnt want to make anyone angry. TL;DR Mentor tank ignores mechanics, leading to unnecessary wipe.

I'm wondering if the tank from the twinning is a skip sprout. Reminds me of a horrendous experience I had in tower of zot with a healer who knew nothing about healing and who refused to speak to any of us when we tried to explain mechanics (until we threatened to vote kick, THEN they got chatty)
Really weird that they refused any advice like that 😅 Also almost worse they started to listen when a vote kick was in the cards 🤔😔 It could be a skip sprout!
I had an almost identical experience where I'm pretty sure I had two skip sprouts in Tower of Zot. The healer was so busy trying to look good by spamming glare (not holy) on trash mobs that I had to invuln 3 different times, and the DPS was so inefficient that I actually got to invuln 3 times in one dungeon. There were no benisons, no tetras, no benies, and way too much cure 1 spam. Neither responded to anything said until our second wipe to the final boss and there was big "don't tell me how to play my class" energy despite me wearing the At Magic's Horizon title and being very gentle with my words. I just do not understand people like this.
Smh. Worst I had recently was leveling queue as Sch, got Castrum Albania, and the Pally didn't touch their mits except for a rare and spicy shelltron, wow, but I was sch so I had it and the two DPS were on it too. Tank left right after and Im pretty sure I got both DPS commends.

These Skills are meant for use.. i have maybe 1-2 skills ive never used even once (the aggro tranfer as example, since ive never had to do tank-switches with randoms) Also, getting fewer Damage means that my healer can maybe do 3-4 casts more of damage so that the mobs die faster..

Saw a couple of people say that the sprout paladin in Twinning bought a skip and I agree tbh. Even if you're a sprout it's lv 80, by that point you should be able to use your 1-2 aoe combo consistently and spamming provoke is often a sign of a tank that doesn't know the role very well. Again a habit that should normally subside by lv 80 if you leveled without a skip. I honestly can't really say I blame the sage for pulling for them (even if it's perhaps not the right call) since they were able to hard carry despite everything and probably just wanted to be out of there as quick as possible lol.
With that one final mob in the lava path in Matoya's Relict.. I actually didn't know that one could move at all for the *longest* time. Virtually no one ever moves it, that I had ever seen. I think most people believe it to be some kind of really weak miniboss (myself included), and when they're on the side of a path, they do tend to be entirely immobile. When I finally did learn it could be moved, it was solely because the tank range pulled it instead of gap closed to it. Which caught *them* off guard too, because it came forward a yalm or so, at which point they turned it and it got to die even faster because of positionals.
Fair point! Interestingly, these kinds of mobs are more likely to move than not for some reason! By which I mean, I discovered the hard way that the castle things in Alzadaal's Legacy (Those building things), will actually chase you down the hall once they're done summoning things! xD
Why's caetsu like the only ffxiv content creator who shows character names and chat? It feels surprisingly strange every time I watch this series to see them.
One part is that I personally feel that hiding the names dehumanizes the other players, which opposite to expectation, I feel invites people to be crueller to the anonymous characters on the screen. Another part is that the reason I show the chat in this series specifically is because the conversations can be important parts of learning, and also because if it was entirely hidden, it would be very easy for me to make up something that didn't actually happen (not That I would do that). In short, I personally feel doing it this way means we all treat these other players that may appear with respect (even if we disagree with how they play), and also keeps me honest. I know other content creators hide this kind of information for various reasons, and I often hide the chat in videos and content where it is not a significant part of it, so I can understand why they would do that 😊 I hope this helps answer the question!
If the boss doesn't have a regularly occurring frontal cleave or something, I recommend placing yourself in front of where the boss is already facing so they don't keep turning. If they are close to an edge, angle them enough that melee dps can safely access both the backside and the flank. But yeah, just try and keep the boss steady for as long as possible. Helps a lot more than turning them. If you have to, or want to turn them, a really weird tip could be to try and keep an eye on the dps. If you recognize the animation of their weaponskills, you may know if they are about to need a positional, or Alternatively how long between gcds they are, so that they can react to you turning the boss in time 🤔😊
I once played Porta Decumana (A duty with only a single target) with a sprout paladin who only used who only used Prominence (not even Total Eclipse), I tried to tell them to use their single target combo, but we didn't speak the same language. I can only assume they just thought the animation looked the coolest of all their skills, or they lost a bet.
E4N was a nightmare for me for a long time. Don't know why. The mechanics aren't that hard to understand but I just didn't get it for a long time. Maybe because there was always some time in between the runs I landed in and so for a long time I could not remember what I had to do until one day it just...clicked.
The bard in Matoya's Relict didn't trigger the cutscene because he was waiting in the wrong spot. If he waited in the correct spot he would be down by the boss before you could walk up.
unrelated question: how do i make the chat log appear like the player names ? like how do i make the player names change color according to the job and have the job icons ?

I think it varies! By which I mean there's brutal fights in all the raid tiers, but eden being higher level, it probably is tougher than those before it. And pandæmonium is currently relevant so a lot more likely people did those fights more recently!
is LB 1 even a noticeable DPS gain? It always feels like the cast time is so long that you can just do almost as much damage just by attacking instead. and also is it even a time save to use ranged LB on trash vs melee LB on boss? ofc the ranged one is a lot more potency but so is using ranged combos, so using ranged LB on trash saves, lets say, 5 seconds on that pull. couldn't melee LB save 5 seconds on the boss pull too? making both of them about equal?
It's a good question. The ranged lb argument i think makes more sense when there are two aoe pulls, but your burst only is available for one of them. Because the lb is still greater dps than just bursting normally, it ultimately means you can have two separate pulls with what feels like burst cooldowns. I think there has been debate on whether melee lb1 is even worth using. I am pretty sure the answer is yes, but probably not by much. Interestingly the cast time of lb increases with higher stages, so it should be worth it. I think the important part to make it worth it is to place it outside of a highpoint in your own rotation at least, but it is a weird conversation understandably 😅 my best evidence is that trash packs where an aoe lb is used typically take significantly less time. But bosses where lb1 is used don't feel like it took much less, and if lb2 is used, while it reduced the length of the fight, it usually went longer than usual for lb2 to even be offered! 🤔😊
can you have two fey unions attached to one person ? i was doing the final shadowbringers trial and it looked like a subsequent fey union replaced the one I already had
I had my friend Aredhel help me test this just now. You absolutely can have two fey unions on the same target. Probably the first one ran out or was canceled just at the moment the other was applied 😊
Just because I've done it before so I point it out exposing my own error but the bard using return ran past the cutscene trigger before it was active so technically they could have triggered it right as it came up and opened the path but you still need to wait for the party anyway. Also fun fact if you all return roughly before the frog starts speaking he won't start the fire and you get to do a rerun of shame through the last area... Done that.
If me getting closer to them is because they MISSED the spot they had to pass, by being there too soon... That is hilarious 😂 Plus, exactly, if you return a moment too soon, you waste MINUTES. Risked to save seconds! 😅 That's also why I never use the return trick myself 😉
1:25 I've had healers kill me with their rescues even though I would have been safe. I Honestly think rescue should be for that 1 time out of 100 where you know for a fact the person will definitely absolutely die. For survivable damage... I think just let the person learn a lesson.
As some people have suggested, that tank may have bought a level skip. They’re on sale right now and recently i have seen multiple people who clearly bought skips.
I have been in expert roulette 2 days ago, despite topping the damage, not getting hit by a single thing in the aetherfont as a blm, i decided to take a hit on the last boss as i was in leylines so i just popped a shield cuz I know i can take a hit and it wont kill me and shuffling to my teammates and back to my leylines is just a waste of time and to my surprise I get pulled by healer... oh... so i just shuffled back to my leylines and got hit either way and matter of fact so did the healer. Lesson of the day? Dont pull blm's out of ther leylines cuz they probly know they can take that damage without getting killed and if not? Let them die its really not that big of a deal. Some healers on 90 are allergic to healing and it really shows. Mind u the knowitall healer had more damage taken than me at the end of the dungeon. Thats to my todays tedtalk
One time in Puppet's Bunker, during the fight between second and third boss, I accidentally Hell's Regressed when I meant to Ingress and was about to get obliterated by the enemy. Suddenly, I'm whizzing across the room, saved! "Thank you for the rescue, I clicked the wrong gap closer!" I said. The healer responded "Oh I was just trolling lmao glad it saved you though" HELLO??????? I revoke my thank you!!!!

Seeing E11N and his Line-Aoe remembers me of P11N. Its a similiar mechanic with the Light/Dark Staff. Light means AOE gets bigger, Dark means you have to move in afterwards. Funny how this Mechanic feels almost the same in 2 consecutive Tier 11 fights.
Oftentimes I find myself using rescue in dungeons like shisui to pull people out of the bad aoes when they get cc'd - it gives me the happy chemicals. that being said, sometimes it is very disorienting and difficult to tell even that you did get rescue'd so i think rescue pulls that are just like 'hey come here' are not as effective.

I’m still disappointed we don’t get the Titan Go-kart as a mount. Or miniature versions of the Ruby/Emerald/Diamond(/sapphire) weapons.

@@NiraSaderthe Emerald weapon minion(Tourmaline weapon) is still available until 7.0 releases from the pvp series rewards. Ruby weapon is gone though

If it helps I'm roughly at 60 and I've only had it for a few days, maybe a week, so it is do able to get to 200 from where you are currently.

It is a minor issue in most duties, so I have mostly brought it up at all in guides aimed at dps jobs when talking about the limit break 😁

The Mist Dragon does the same Prismatic Deception mechanic in The Burn; I had no idea how to resolve it until the Eden raid came out!

Oh yeah I do that too on that fight. A tip for the future for you, is maybe you can intercept them: sure cast makes you immune to rescue as well! 😅
