This is easily the best America mod job I've ever seen. All the nice to haves that the America is missing (like a tach) and really sick color scheme. Well done.
I just bought a 2003 Triumph Bonneville America with only 140 miles on it. A friend inherited it from his grandfather who just passed. It sat in his grandfathers garage for 17 years, but is absolutely a brand new bike.
I think he changed the handlebars or risers too, maybe both. Other than that i think it's exactly how I did it. Are you local to Chris? Pretty sure he came down from Cumbria when he bought it off me.
@@duncangray9339 I travelled from catterick in North Yorkshire to pick it up, yeah its got some pullback risers on it what give it a lovely riding position. He did say he converted it to a belt but changed it back to the chain
Mine had alloy wheels originally but I stripped the spoked wheels, had the hubs & rims powder coated, spokes polished then rebuilt them with new bearings, brake discs & upgraded front caliper.
I know you posted this a few years ago, but I just picked up a 2008 America and love a bunch of your mods. Did you black out the chrome yourself, on the engine, forks, headlight/instrument housing, etc? Or did you buy separate?
Yes. I just scuffed the chrome up with sandpaper to give the paint something to stick to then sprayed them with etch primer, followed by gloss black then a few coats of clear lacquer. The engine casings & sprocket cover were chemically stripped of the chrome then I sprayed them with VHT wrinkle finish black paint. Wheel rims & hubs are powder coated black.
Hi guy we have just bought a Speed master model 2008 and se would like to replace the alloy wheels with those like yours.could you give me the model and the brand?
@@duncangray9339 Duncan can I just ask did you repaint the chrome if so what paint did you use and did it require any special prep? or is it powder coated? cheers again.
@@duncangray9339 Duncan did you spray the bike yourself with an airgun or did you have it done at a paintshop? If so would you mind if I asked the cost? cheers in advance. Jase

I added cocktail shakers to my America, thats a look that would really go with this bike. Cheers. Good job!
I just bought this bike today, absolutely amazing!
I didn't know Chris was selling it.
How much you pay for it mate?
@@duncangray9339 4.5, I can safely say this will be with me for a long time.
@@christianbrown4193 that's less than he paid for it plus think he fitted a pulley drive didn't he?

What handlebar is that..?
I’ve got a 2006, and was told that was the last year with the spoke wheels.

Very tasty.

Hey there beautiful bike good job on the mods ...just wondering if you could tell me what size those shocks are it's a nice stance thanks
300mm Hagon shocks
Nice sound!! Can you tell me where you got the tank pads?
They were genuine Triumph tank rubbers purchased from ebay
What pipes do you have on it? It sounds great!
They're Trident long stainless steel exhausts. They have removable baffles but they are fitted in that video.
Awesome job. Where did you find the rack over the rear fender?
I got it off ebay, it's the rear rack from a 98 - 03 Harley Sportster. They're a perfect fit & a lot cheaper than the genuine Triumph item Rob
@@duncangray9339 Thanks D
@@duncangray9339 Are those the original fork tubes?
@@robbywilson9824 yeah standard forks. Fork bottoms & upper shrouds sprayed black, lower shrouds removed & rubber gaiters fitted for that 'retro' look.
Sweet ride...what intake setup is that?
They're Pipercross foam filters with a homemade airbox delete kit plus upgraded jets in the carbs

The wheels are from the earlier Triumph America model.
what the dog doin though
What colour is that? as it really suits the bike.
It's VW Mango Green (paint code L346) used in the 60's & 70's on the VW Split screen camper, Beetle & Karmann Ghia.
