My late father from Achill did this work in the Tunnels in London and other cities. He died aged 57 in 1989. This song is so moving for me and a beautiful version by the lads here
R. I. P Matthew Flanagan (MAD DOG FLANAGAN) he left Dublin with mam in the 50s,landed in little Ireland, Manchester. He blew through Britain, collected his coins and brought them bk home to Dublin in the 90s. He really was some man for one man. A sense of humour to the end 🙏 Interned in glassnevin 26/11/22 This is a brilliant version lads, thank you 🙏 Go raibh maith agat 🙏 🇮🇪

+Maureen McCarthy Thanks for the comment Maureen. It's a very descriptive song of tough times and the lads really do it justice here.
