Don't compare Japanese tech with indian. Yes, it may look old, and not appealing, but the engine is the key USP. And yes, Hunter 350 is better than this, but not Splendor
@@Indian-dr1xf what do you mean by alloy wheels, you are comparing beautiful spokes for some cheap looking alloy, splendor is good and affordable, w 175 is pricey but it has that japnese dna, it's same as comparing new xtec splendor to old hero honda splendor ( goat)
Built 👍 Reliability 👍 No nonsense 👍 Bullet proof 👍 Kawasaki ❣️ Take my word for it I have an 19 year old Kawasaki eliminator yes that eliminator! and it just runs !!
A retro commuter from a Japanese giant which takes you back to the basics of motorcycling! Looks simple and light. Always remember, find an equation with your motorcycle and enjoy your ride! It doesn't matter if its a TVS XL or a Triumph Tiger.
No dual channel ABS, no rear disc and overpricing make it a good proposition as a used bike. It looks quite elegant though. Nothing special. Hunter's pricing and displacement make it the logical pick.
But hunter and ronin can't match fuel economy as kawasaki has. RE all bike look old design after sometime. But the kawasaki design like if you see after 15 year this same design. It will feel fresh like today. That's the quality of kawasaki. Also the quality is awesome of kawasaki
But is the Hunter cheap? The variants which people actually buy are the Metro variant - costs 2.10 lakh and Rebel - costs 2.2 lakhs on-road in Bangalore. Only the Retro variant costs less which frankly no one buys. Hunter top model is just 20,000 cheaper the CB350 which is far superior, more powerful, full size bike than the Hunter which is a small, puny bike marketed for ladies overseas.
I am still a bit iffy with the price tag. Kawa should have offered this at a lowered price tag. Somewhere in the region of ₹1.5l on-road Mumbai/Delhi. That would have made it super competent against the P150's and TVS 160's. Best of luck to them. 👍🏽
Nice review.. But if I'm out to buy a simple no flaws commuter, il choose the bajaj ct 125 as it fairly manages upto 90 to 100kmph with a milege to 50 plus. This kawsaki is nice but is over priced.
Kawasaki should have come with atleast 250-300 cc engine. Saw it last week in the showroom and it looks quite small. On the other hand the w800 is all perfect except for the price crossing 8 Lakh OTR . Even with the current cash discount of 1.25 Lakh the OTR touches the 7 Lakh rupees marks !
Rx is a 2 stroke it's different .. u wanna enjoy 2 stroke ?? Buy a Kx 100 put supermoto wheels and ride ..30 bhp 100cc ..not even Rx 100 comes near that
@@bonjovi1354 👍🏽have a RX, the one in my display. Just looking at something that can give a similar feel. My son’s growing up to ride in a short while, so need a smaller, lighter, reliable and fun machine
I think this bike was designed and made for the developed western markets where smaller capacity smooth and refined, fill it shut it forget it kinds of bike have been obsolete. But here in India we still use such bikes, >200 cc commuter segment is still very relevant here. Sadly the price is also in the typical Kawasaki manor, very expensive for a glorified hero splendor competitor.
As a short heighted person i like this this offering, but Kawasaki should have made it better with thicker tyres, more performance, connected features, rear disk at even lesser price and that would have it compete against Hunter & Ronin.
Not for India for sure.... Indians will pay little higher for retro bikes (RE and Jawa) which offer a better power and higher displacement overall. If this was under 1.5L on road, definitely would have made sense for Indian Market... A Simple Motorcycle at a Higher Price needs to be either Powerful or Economical (Average)...
I think this bike is more suitable for Kawasaki big bike owners who need something for the city and visiting local grocery, doctors, lawyers, social gathering etc. But is not into scooters or sitting inside cars. They will get this riding a retro feeling daily, with more fuel efficiency than their big bike while staying different visibly from the fellow road users on a Bullet 350 , as they do when they are on their big bikes.
@Autocar India, Hello... Nice coverage of all aspects of the bike. I need your suggestion. Presently I'm using Yamaha FZ-S V3 Deluxe model (149CC). Its absolutely amazing bike with top class reliability, engine refinement and handling. Am getting a constant mileage from FZS in between 53-55 KMPL as per my usage pattern. One of the stable & grippy motor cycle on road. Am bit passionate about bikes. So, Can go with Kawasaki W175...? Power (12.87 Vs 12.2 BHP) and Torque (13.2 Vs 13.3 N-m) almost identical W175 vs FZS, Though W175 is 177CC motor cycle. I need family comfortable bike too. Can i expect same level of performance and mileage from W175..?? please suggest me. How is seat and pillion comfort..? Do the tyre sizes matter for handling..?? kindly answer all my queries. Thank you
nice write up(words used to describe are very appropriate as per the specifications and situation ) man and review. Well communicated the bike's character.
I remember the low model Kawasaki boxer by the way it looks like that, but it doesn't deserve the price point, too pricy!!! And always Kawasaki tries to fix their price over the other Japanese contenders like Yamaha, Suzuki, Honda and moreover all these three are taking in part in motoGP but not Kawasaki. In my opinion I don't think so that Kawasaki need a huge attention
If u want Kawasaki quality of engine go and get 20 yr old wind 125/ Bajaj boxer from scrap or anywhere and restore it will be cheap and give same levels of quality and feel.
Why nobody is giving importance to 177cc engine and gearbox of this bike. It is not a splendor or bajaj ct100 or whatever. It is a retro bike with high brand value. Easy to maintain but expensive one. But it is not a splendor or bajaj CT 100 because of it's powerful engine compared to above mentioned bike.
After listening the price tag... I just closed it... I thought it would cost around 60k to 70k ...... Why in the world anyone would buy a bike cost which cost 1.5lakh and in return you get absolutely nothing. I miss the old day's where you pay less and get more. 😅
Plot twist : kawasaki India design intern engineers were on the firing line unless they come up with a design overnight. In a haste they got decades old Kawasaki bajaj calibre and copied it all. Oh and they increased bore so that engine size is little bit extra and does not look copied !
I guess they did not look st the parameters properly while designing this bike. The gap between the engine and the front wheel is much to allow a truck pass through. Overall it looks quite skinny for a 175cc ₹2L costing bike
Thumbs up 👍 for Bajaj ct125x rather than this... Most affordable Rs.95000/- onroad price.. Rugged design with more features than this.. only difference is 125cc engine..
We need made in India W400 to compete with RE 650s, not this crap. This will go down in history as one of biggest fails in Indian market. Kawasaki also continues to sell outdated Ninja 300 which has been discontinued worldwide.
After seeing w175 in person, I've planned to get one CT125x
I'll take a splendor over this
Same here.
Yes. Atleast it comes with alloy wheels and tubless tyres

I really doubt that
Should have been at least 20% cheaper. Wouldn’t be surprised if Kawasaki does a Honda 6 months down the line with a massive price cut.
Lol, that discounted rate Honda CB300F is the most value for money in the country.

I love your reviews. Much better than Autocar’s car revierers
Will take Bajaj CT 125X 🔥
Why to take this when you have Hunter,Ronin in the segment...
Only if the RE would've made the clutch lighter and the bike a little less heavier this would've had no chance being in the market's consideration.

Extremely underpowered wrt cc, not for Indian market ..
Decent bike and good review. 💐

Zaran with short hair = unrecognisable

The issue is pricing. Too high.
Missed the exhaust note of W175 in the Review
Air cooled engine and drum brakes gives fuel efficiency, this bike is obiviously meant for laid back people who commute less than 40 kms per week
In short.
Get this if you are rich now and your dad has a Boxer that is no longer road legal, gift it to your father.

Looking At Dis I Remember My Yamaha Crux.. Looks Same
Atleast they should have made the engine look simpler without the catcon and other wore and tubes.
Should've added some chrome finish
Looking very thin when reached in India so increase tank size like Indonesian w175.
Wow 😳 ,. Just now I googled about Kawasaki W175 😍
Autocar come up with review 🔥🔥 that's a crazy sync
Bike is old school and bland without features....but price is new school infact...futuristic.. 😀😀
Kawasaki Boxer 175 should be the apt name
How did someone in Kawasaki okay this design!!!

Disappointing that this is not the product you launch in the RE enclosure. It looks like 1980's amateur Chinese bike.
So they remade the Kawasaki Boxer. With a new tank.....
Price should be little less. Why anyone choose this bike over hunter or bullet in same price
Imagine the intelligence of people Buying this over the Pulsar N160
when an Apple customer wants a Boxer equivalent...
You guys still criticizing RE for this expensive bike, as a friend said Splendor is better than this

They're making fun of indian motorcycle market 🙂
Only Kawasaki that I can own
What happened to his hair....!!!
if it is 1.10 lakhs it is worth buying it...
I will buy bajaj or hero commuter bike over this or even worst case RE hunter spoke version, simply for brand name u cannot shell out 1.50 INR
An absolutely ridiculous proposition considering the looks, price and features. Any 100cc like the splendor or CD 100 would be a better pick

This motorcycle makes no sense in India. We already have the cheaper royal enfield bullet for the retroheads. This isn’t retro, this is basic.

From the front it looks like TVS XL 100
It should be around 1.20 Lakh. It's in Ronin and Hunter price bracket.
It looks like a 2003 model Bajaj boxer
