Selfishly this is such a great post, my sons 8 and plays football at Cramlington Town, (hope you liked the new club house) and just he's also joined a local cycling club, (not sure he's going to like cyclo-cross season though). But being able to watch this and relate this to something on his door step will be great. Thanks again
the new suit is badass i am still learning the cycling subtle flexes like the Olympian rings, or course records it's great that the lot of you all are able to back and forth as gents but still keep calm and manage all the deets. Good luck.
Alex followed you for a while, first time commenting, sorry you didn't get the result. And have a fabulous wedding! Wishing you a life time of happiness 🎉
18:06 Sorry your friend got brake-checked. Some of the drivers round Blyth are right pricks! I hope you had a great time regardless. I know the event team were really excited to meet you! ❤️
There has been a lot of Internet/UA-cam discussions regarding the use of various fairings (arms, legs) and chest-stuffing in the British TT race....it would be great to hear your thoughts on the subject? Should the British TT races institute more regulations regarding these types of external speed enhancements?
i enjoyed this video - very raw and relatable. i was meant to race you at the manc wheelers 20mi MTT back in june but i got ill. would be nice to give one a go against you - may i recommend the M24.8 course 😎. hope you do get the national title youre after - rooting for you 👌🏻👌🏻
Awesome suit ! - at least 5w extra with all the pink. 400 w average is good though - I'd say a good winter and you'll be in the mix for a national next year.. keep the faith Alex !
Great video Alex and well done 👏 Everyone has a journey and we continue the build 💪 with the dual bottle setup on the back does that help with aero ? Ride On 🙌
9:25 Something I noticed here is that you are not wearing your base layer here, but the pattern on the sleeves still seems similar to that which can be found on the base layer. Is this an updated version of the hypersonic suit which works without the base layer? And since I am being overly observant here, the pattern on the sleeves matches the sleeves on Pogacar's suit that he used to win Lombardia (and Movistar used in the vuelta, and UAE used in the tour). New suit coming? 😜 Apologies for the slightly nitpicky comment 😅
Not at all, great observation! We’re playing with multiple iterations of the suit, working out what works best at what speeds and then what happens after washes as well. It could well be the same sleeves at Pog has, they’re testing fast!
Noticed the bumps aka "turbulators" along the side of your skinsuit. Will be interesting to see if this becomes a new trend for non UCI skinsuits. Have seen them on a few tri suits as well. Alex, does the nopinz hypersonic suit have them on as standard or did you ask for them? Thanks 👍
The Scott is a great bike, and an engineering masterpiece, little things like the ability to change the rear axle fore/aft position to accomodate different tyre sizes, the integrated storage and fluid compartments etc. Unsurprisingly a touch heavy but I'm ok with that for UK tt'ing. I don't have any direct aero comparisons (testing bikes with people in is very difficult to do as positionally the positions need to be perfect) but my times around the Maldon 10 stack up really well compared with historical performances so I'd say it's definitely comparable to the Shiv and Hanzo but tough to pinpoint which is 'better.' per se.
Hi Alex this is not related to the vid but I'd be mighty interested. In your 1h WC ride you used a special saddle which you called "Simmons Racing" but I can't find a mention of it. Is this an older model or something made custom to you? I also have a slightly deeper position and would like to have a little grippier saddle and the thing you showed in your other video might be it.
You would have got second if it wasn’t for the ridiculous fairings the guy in front of you was using. Personally, I think CT need to sort the rules out on body fairings. It’s getting silly. GCN made some good points about it.
It's because the Tempor's visor is pathetically small and doesn't shield the eyes properly for some when the helmet is tilted back on the head for aerodynamics. Source: Owner of a Tempor
Have you something down your front al la John Merrick the elephant man? I get aero gains over weight. I watched Obree and Boardman and Le Mond confound Fignon. Surely at some point all this stuff effects output. Looks uncomfortable. Just saying. The obvious other question is are they other people tested ever? Easy to buy all wiggins juice online these days.
dad here, life long Liverpool fan, one of my lads came up to me a few months ago, and said "Dad, I think I'm a Tottenham fan" I like to let them make their own way, but there was a definite sucking in of the teeth moment, so I deffo empathise with your dad in this 😂
Bit harsh there with the tone of your comment. But seeing as I'm being accused of shilling nowadays on here (a term I hadnt even heard of until now) I'll give you the full explanation. If you'd watched closely in my 'failed' hour record testing videos you'd have seen the POC in it's perfect position with the tail flat to my back was fractionally faster than the HJC, but the HJC was fastest when head movement was involved. The CTT rather than UCI allows for more relaxed rules so I affix a magnet to the tail of the POC and under my skin suit to keep the tail down. Also, all of my HJC's are Israel branded as well so I'd rather use something plain and fast for now. One for you now. Maybe next time, be a bit nicer with your comments and ask what is a legitimate question in a better way instead of going in like a train with such animosity. Alex
@@AlexDowsettOfficial You're an inspiration and a great entertainer. I'm sorry to hear about it in this way, but can you share some details regarding the magnets in the tempor and skinsuit? That's a really interesting and cool thing!
I have thought about using a safety pin affixed to the tail of my hemet to force me to hold the correct position, magnets is a cleaner solution, any details would be appreciated. @@AlexDowsettOfficial
Bluetak aero and zip tied front lights is why I am here, more please.

Are the suit sleeves made up of two layers stitched together now, rather than skinsuit + separate base layer? Makes sense
how does the scott compare to other TT bikes if you said it was a masterpiece? might be an interesting video if you go indepth on the reasons

Do you have the rear water bottles on the bike because they actively improve aerodynamics? Surely no one is grabbing them over a 10 mile TT?
I thought Steven was from Colne. Cool your dad is a Claret.
The sunglasses! That’s about 20 watts right there! 😅
Which lace up shoes are those, Alex? I thought they were the new Spec Torch but not sure.
They are indeed
Would a visor help stop the wind hitting the gap between your sunglasses and your poc helmet?
We had mixed results with visors, I've got a big head though and the Poc visor doesnt fit me so it makes a decision for me
@ Alex: you wear the POC always with googles. Is it faster than the visor or does it have other purposes?
It's because the Tempor's visor is pathetically small and doesn't shield the eyes properly for some when the helmet is tilted back on the head for aerodynamics.

windprotection for the mic would be nice to have…
Strange to see you struggle, you reached the pinnacle of the sport, you know what to do to reach the top step. What’s holding you back?
Life balance this year has been tough, simply not trained as much as I’d have liked ☺️

What’s up your nose in the warm up? Tissue with olbus oil / Vicks or something?
What course was this race ridden on? I didn't catch it. O-10-2?
Not the O10/2 as that’s in North Notts, and no longer used. It was up near Newcastle somewhere.
