You’re right again Sam it’s not always about the newest/fastest most track focused vehicle it’s definitely how a car makes you happy when you’re driving
Your content has been really good lately, and I’ve definitely been a critic in the past. You’ve driven some amazing cars and the podcast with Tony has really found its voice. I really respect you take the time to shoot quality content; you’re not just churning out the same tired videos doing clickbait and car collections. I love the getting coffee in a supercar videos, they feel far more like a real world usage of how these cars are used most of the time. Thanks for putting effort into making great content, instead of “car influencers” who just use their audience to flog a load of old crap to *ahem TGE ahem* P.S. Buy the Defender 90😉
one handed, coffee in hand, driving through an unfamiliar town in a rare and expensive Alfa....awesome - with you on the buy it for how it makes you feel not its ultimate abilities....works at all levels
when I had the Alfa GT 3.2 v6 Busso with red leather interior I seated the same way every time in the car as you. Smile from ear to ear.The beauty of that car with the busso sound. Still miss it.
Great video as usual. Despite its flaws 8C will always be a timeless classic. However its a crime Sam that there was only one proper shot of that Alfa SZ. It deserved a bit more attention.
The Swiss might not be fans of supercars and noise but, the world keeps turning. We stopped at a service station late one night just a few miles north of Como. We hears the roars from a long way off. Two Italian chaps were out for a late night blast in the mountains. First car was a rather lovely Maserati Quattroporte. The second, an Enzo! A few minutes later the chaps roared off. Utter perfection in the background of Swiss silence.
Welcome to the 8C appreciation society Sam! Always in my top5 hypothetical Euromillions win garage! The sound is even more intoxicating in Sport, and gearbox is better too as less clutch slip at low speeds. Quality content. Cheers, Chris
God, i still love this thing to this day ever since i was it onc Top Gear as a child. You never see them on the road, but when you do, you sure have to look twice. What a beauty!
This is my "go to" road when I have a moment to drive. What a shame I missed the day you were on "my" road because I love that car 😭😭😭. Still, great video as usual! Welcome in Switzerland!
Are there speed limit enforcements out on mountain roads like this? Seem like incredible roads but would be rather boring if you're only able to go super slow through them. I hear Switzerland has some of the lowest speed limits and harshest enforcement in the world
The 8C is absolutely fantastic. Hope to one day afford one. And that SZ. You should get to drive that as well. Both are truly special. Both sound fantastic. Both are amongst my favorite cars ever made. I have been lucky enough to drive both. And the 8C isn't as bad as many say. It's not a trackcar, but it is good on country roads. At pushing it 70-80% it is perfect. And that is all you need on roads. Nice video. Keep up the fantastic work.

Still a looker! Thank you very much for another good fun, road report Sam. Always amazing to have a window on the world with in this case, the awesome Alpine mountains backdrop.
This made me enjoy the car with you. I'm so glad you drove in silence. Ty ty ty. Most people are sobusy talking at the viewer that they forget we want to experience the car too! Awesome.
Just the fact that you continuously create incredible content while bearing 100% of the risk as it is completely free (ABSOLUTELY FREE) to all of us is the coolest thing ever.
Everytime you get the chance to drive an Alfa Romeo it always reminds me of when you owned the 4C, good old days! By the way, watching those videos in 4K is such a great way to start my day! Keep up with this great content Sam
My number 1 favourite pastime is to get in my car, go up into the mountains and get a coffee and a croissant. It's my happy place. This video speaks to me on a personal level.
Alfa's have always been a driver's / enthusiast's car! The emotion, the rumble of the motor, the symphony of the exhaust and the feel of the road! Yes, they aren't as refined as some of their competitors, but to your point made in the video several times...WHO CARES! This 8C looks like a blast to drive and the style is second to none. I get the same feeling when I look at and get behind the wheel of my Giulia QV or my Giulia Super! Someday...hopefully...an 8C! great video and loved your passion for the AR 8C
This was the perfect video to watch on a Sunday afternoon whilst drinking hot coffee... My favouritestest car everever in the world !!!(maybe only the Disco Volante superseeds this, but that's so out of this world, so let's not even mention it..) I'm really glad you debunked some of the previous claims about the 8C being bad to drive. I've always felt that reviewers only said it, because it fit the whole "oh it's bad but it doesn't matter because it's so gorgeous" story. Makes me want to own one even more! :D
I totally agree with you that the 8C is a must own one day car!! I remember being at a breakfast meet at the Four Seasons Hotel in Florence, and after it our guest had his 8C parked opposite the hotel, well the exhaust note on start up was utterly the best ever! The narrow roads and high buildings leant themselves to increasing the volume! You are right on the power too, we do not need vast engines. My Mondial 3.2 & 270bhp seems plenty to me & I never feel it needs more. Enjoy your 360!
Watch these on your HD tv! Great show. Wish your Sunday episodes were half hour 😉. Beautiful car. Some are pretty. Some are handsome - the 8C is just damn beautiful. And learn to love the sequential manual!
Sam .... Your content and reviews just get better and better. I thoroughly enjoyed the Alfa Romeo 8C review, a great insight into a great car. Keep them coming please.
I'm on my third alfa 159, had one diesel which i thought was just not right for the badge so i now have two petrol versions. Every time i park the car and walk into wherever I'm going i look back at it and just admire the looks, makes me feel good to drive them and thats most important.
One may swear that German cars with their immaculate engineering, or British cars with their obsession with luxurious details are the best, but I cannot give Alfa Romeo a bigger compliment other than saying : This is the way a car should look like.
Love waking up in the morning to your latest adventure in a wonderful car. I have traveled more places by visiting coffee shops along the way with my twin brother who like you is an avid coffee man! 😁
For me, an 8C is top of my dream garage list. I like cars which are a challenge Sam....my old Cobra Mk2 was a similar car - just from another era. Equally beautiful to behold, sounding like Thor himself, and would bite you in a moment of inattention. My sort of car. Don't listen to Tony....he has no soul and doesn't like anything out of warranty. Many Motor Traders are like that, because they hate aggravation with a passion. The proportions of the 8C are just perfect, every angle is a photographic opportunity. I am not surprised that they have appreciated so quickly. Even as a Ferrari fan, there isn't a modern Ferrari i wouldn't step over to get my hands on an 8C!
Yep, you got it right Sam, ignore the numbers, that kind of car should be mostly about how it makes you feel. Pictures don’t do the 8C justice. You need to see it in reality to appreciate its curves. It is stunning….And that exhaust note. Perfection!
Love the video. I enjoy the getting coffee videos. You are right a lot of owning a car is how it makes you feel. My 911SC is not fast at all by today's standards but I love all the mechanical sounds and the steering in it! PS. How did you not talk about the red matching luggage right behind the seats!! The 8C is a terrific car. Switzerland is the finest nation in the world. Too bad Alfa Romeo is so satisfied with producing very limited numbers of cars. They have a museum full of beautiful, cool cars. But they have a hell of a time selling their normal lineup. I know, because I've owned 5 Alfa Romeos, including two new Giulia models. What were the Alfa-isms of the 8C? My Giulietta QV has ridiculously loud tire roar from 50-70, then quiet at 75. Also the aircon keeps turning on, but I don’t care because I love it & that’s why we buy them 🙂
Hi Sam, another great video. And I get that personal opinion is just that - personal. Also that the rarity of these is largely what drives the value, but 300k? For that you could have your pick of all your favourite Ferraris - Challenge Stradale (plus a massive chunk of change), a mega spec 458 (plus change), a decent Speciale or even a Pista. Would you seriously have an 8C over any of these? I'd love to know what Tony would say!
You have to see one of these in the flesh to appreciate just how beautiful (And low down and wide) they are. A few years ago, I was in Arnage during the le Mans race and there was one of these parked in the street there. It got more attention than all of the Lambo's/Ferrari's Aston's put together. "Stunningly beautiful."
I once visited a local Alfa Dealer and was totally gob smacked to see two of these parked at the back of the lot in a dingy area and under some large coniferous trees, they were both covered in sap and had rusted brake discs, this was when the cars were new and I literally went into the dealership and to,l them to sort it out, couldn’t believe such beautiful machines were being treated so badly!
