The side of the filter to check was the back. Which had quite bit of debris on it. Pay attention to the air flow arrow on the filter. The dirt and debris get caught on the opposite side of the arrow direction. They need to be changed every 12,000 miles. Should have changed it while it was out.
What a terrible place to put an air filter. Hard to get to and an access entry smaller than the filter. Nissan should take a lesson from Honda. Their's is just behind the glove box and is a piece of cake to change. Very good video, though. Thanks

Totally agree ... changed mine today along with the engine air filter .. cost about $21.00 for the two filters .... who knows how much I saved by doing myself ... probably over $100 if the dealer had done it
None of these rogue videos tell you there is a hidden screw that holds the filter door shut. You have to remove the screw to open the door. After that you can throw away the screw.
