- Frits Thaulow was the consummate painter of Rivers and Streams, made famous by his dedication to the plein-air movement in nineteenth-century European culture. His brawny stature and hearty personality were welcomed around the social circles of Paris and elsewhere. He was friends with Monet and Carolus Duran, he was straightforward in his approach to painting always looking to the natural world for inspiration, not relying on superficial meanings of mysticism or symbolism or any ism for that matter. Just paint nature with simplicity and a dash of poetry, comparable to Corot.

Loved this. Another artist I knew nothing about. I obviously know very little at this point. LOL. I’m always struck how there are no books on most of these artist. All the books are the same dozen or so known names. Such a shame. I may have to do something about that, 😂😂😂
Those are the best reproductions you could find? His work is worth looking for better reproductions online than many, if not most, of what is shown here. I have found every one of these shots full-screen and sharp focused online...why couldn't you do that when you put this together. Do the work for this site; replace all the crummy reproductions with good ones that show how incredible a painter he was.
No one brings water to life more than Fritz! WOW!
I'm utterly blow away! I'm in love with his work!
That rare combination of a commanding presence, a possession of skills and gifts, and an ebullience of personality - how splendid! This is wonderful. Thank you.💐
Thanks so much for this. His painting in the PMA is one of my favorites.
Wonderful art, deilghtfully presented and commented on.
Good paintings ! impressionism movement spread across Europe. Even today so many painters became great artists, painting in this style. Is easy, no complications, simple.
Thank you for doing what you’re doing. This is the best art channel I’ve come across
6.10. This placid, snowy scene is very restful. I like is a lot.
One of my favorites- but many of these jaw dropping paintings were new to me. Great narration- thank you 🙏
oh my god ! what an amazing painter he was. Thanks so much for presenting.
I love this channel, and how the information is presented. Starting with the artist and their careers to the voice of the narrators whoms cadence adds elegance & respect to every artists that's highlighted. I became an instant "fan " and subscriber, not mention just how fast I went back to binge watch all previous postings and love when I'm notified of any new ones. Lastly, creators tent to ask if viewers prefer videos as "Shorts" or long.....
Thank you for the presentation and hard work.
Great master of nature painting. Bring a book of this beautiful works.

Thanks!
Bellissimo! Grazie.
