  • Frits Thaulow was the consummate painter of Rivers and Streams, made famous by his dedication to the plein-air movement in nineteenth-century European culture. His brawny stature and hearty personality were welcomed around the social circles of Paris and elsewhere. He was friends with Monet and Carolus Duran, he was straightforward in his approach to painting always looking to the natural world for inspiration, not relying on superficial meanings of mysticism or symbolism or any ism for that matter. Just paint nature with simplicity and a dash of poetry, comparable to Corot.

Loved this. Another artist I knew nothing about. I obviously know very little at this point. LOL. I’m always struck how there are no books on most of these artist. All the books are the same dozen or so known names. Such a shame. I may have to do something about that, 😂😂😂

Those are the best reproductions you could find? His work is worth looking for better reproductions online than many, if not most, of what is shown here. I have found every one of these shots full-screen and sharp focused online...why couldn't you do that when you put this together. Do the work for this site; replace all the crummy reproductions with good ones that show how incredible a painter he was.

I love this channel, and how the information is presented. Starting with the artist and their careers to the voice of the narrators whoms cadence adds elegance & respect to every artists that's highlighted. I became an instant "fan " and subscriber, not mention just how fast I went back to binge watch all previous postings and love when I'm notified of any new ones. Lastly, creators tent to ask if viewers prefer videos as "Shorts" or long.....

Bellissimo! Grazie.
