Buy Better Food: It's time to eat good food in public canteens - for our health and the environment!

Buy Better Food is a European campaign that brings together experts, politicians, NGOs and local/regional governments who are convinced that we can create more sustainable food systems through large-scale sustainable food procurement and thus support the achievement of climate goals. Together with our supporters, we call for public procurement* rules that work for the environment, consumers, and workers, and that provide healthy food to all European inhabitants in public places such as canteens in schools, hospitals and elderly care homes.
Buy Better Food's demands are based on the Manifesto for Sustainable Public Procurement, which was drawn up together with the EU Food Policy Coalition and sets out concrete proposals for changes in seven areas of procurement. We are asking the European Union to introduce mandatory criteria for all public canteens. In the video, people from all over Europe explain why these criteria are important and what positive impact they have on people and the planet.
